About the Artist
Jason Bennett offers up his debut cd, 'The Atascadero Sessions' which was written and recorded on the California Central coast. This contemporary folk collection features ten original songs recorded on the Eleven Mile Records label. Jason Bennett was born and raised in southern and central California and now resides in Florissant, Colorado in the Pikes Peak Region. The 31 year-old singer/songwriter's main influence is the great Bob Dylan and his music is sometimes labeled as contemporary guitar-cello-driven acoustic folk songs on such topics as love-gone-wrong, aimless wandering and a touch of political irony.

4 out of 5 stars Songs That Speak To Your Heart........2001-06-10

When I sit and listen to Jason Bennett's CD, I fall in love with folk music all over again. He has a wonderful fresh songwriting talent that talks to your heart. The beautiful simplicity of the guitar and cello are almost haunting. The song "If It's True" talks to my soul. Thanks, Jason, for breathing a bit of new life into folk music. I look forward to hearing more from you.

5 out of 5 stars Emerging Folksinger.......2001-06-08

Wonderful debut CD from Jason Bennett. His songs of love, longing and despair are sung in a soft, delicate voice which somehow soothes a restless mind. Bennett lets his songs speak for themselves as they are mostly recorded with simple instrumentation: vocal, guitar, harmonica and cello. Bob Liepman of the folk duo "Bob and Wendy" carves out extremely passionate and brilliant work backing Bennett on cello, mandolin and mandocello. Bennett is also joined by California singer-songwriter Janine Elich on two of the tracks. An excellent debut CD from Bennett. If you are into soft, acoustic vocal-guitar-cello driven music, this CD is for you. Very interesting. Five Stars!!!!

This CD has renewed my faith in modern music. An eclectic mix of acoustic guitar, cello, mandolin, harmonica and dynamic yet mellow vocals. Jason Bennett has the qualities of Dylan, Roger McGuinn and numerous folk icons. This is great original music that you should not miss.
