Editorial Reviews
From the Artist
Thanks for checking out this music! I loved putting it all together for you. Write me if you want to.
All of the tracks have vocals, since singing is my first love.I also play guitar and piano. I was joined by some outstanding musicians, not only for their chops but because they are golden people. You will hear accordian, cello, percussion, bass and great guitar riffs by Mark Lopatosky. One confession: my son Ivan says cute, funny stuff on Tracks 6 & 13.
Product Description
A premier collection of diverse songs from this seasoned songwriter. With the intuition of Cheryl Wheeler, the rarified air of early Joni Mitchell, the folksiness of Nancy Griffith and the whimsy of Nancy Tucker, Anderson's mellow, rich voice offers this pleasing and uplifting CD. Whether they are triumphant, kicky, catchy, lazy or exquisite, these songs are unusual perspectives on our humanity and divinity. Anderson has thoughtfully produced a group of songs that point to spirituality, but in a daily-life kind of way.

Do you want to REALLY be blessed and worship God??.......2007-07-04
If you have a heart for fabulous worship music, you will be swept right into the presence of God with this Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir cd. I've heard others and they don't seem to be either the same quality or have the same anointing as this one does. I turn it on and tears start almost immediately, and I've listened to it probably 50+ times. Never tire of it, it always brings me back to where I belong, in His presence, loving and worshiping Him.
Great as usual.......2007-03-29
I just love the songs and voices of this choir. They are such praise and worship inspirationals.

Customer Reviews:
The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26
I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.
Please buy it.
A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10
Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.
The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).
This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.
I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.
a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15
I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.
Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

Working Classical might just be the perfect outlet for the composing skills of Sir Paul McCartney. Here, the former Beatles (and, let's not forget, Wings) member scales things down from his previous classical-music endeavors--the overweight works Liverpool Oratorio and Standing Stone. In the hands of the Loma Mar Quartet chamber group and the London Symphony Orchestra, McCartney's shorter compositions sound all the more intimate (and effective). Album opener "Junk" is a simple waltz dating from the composer's days with the Fab Four, performed here by the Quartet with short-but-sweet results. "A Leaf" is another waltz motif, this one performed with a full orchestra. McCartney pop favorites "Warm and Beautiful," "Somedays," "She's My Baby," and "The Lovely Linda" all get chamber-music treatments that bring out their compositional beauty. And, while influences seem to range from Janácek to Morricone, there's no doubting that McCartney knows how to write a convincing ditty--pop or otherwise. --Jason Verlinde
Customer Reviews:
nice string music.......2007-07-13
Wow, these are nice arrangements. Very good to put on the CD player late at night and relaxing with. Very good.
Macca continues to amaze. As Ringo said in reference to "Let it Be...Naked":"(Paul) ,You were right all along."
I think when the history is written many years from now, it'll be seen that while John Lennon was the heart of the Beatles,Paul McCartney was their musical brain. I feel Mac will stand tall with other notable composers from the Western musical tradition.
AS soon as the classical snobs make themselves admit it.
Melodically,Mac can't be beat.
W/out Mac,there would've not been the Beatles as we know them today.
This CD is well worth buying.
Perfect Format to Present Paul's Genius.......2006-11-20
Confused recent reviews have argued about whether this is classical or MUZAK. Whatever you want to call the form, the music itself is brilliant and inspired. We would not give two shakes about these tunes that are in some cases thirty-six years old if they had no draw to our hearts and no merit. This album would have been released and forgotten and that definitely has not happened.
I have just listened to the broadcast of Paul's most recent classical work Ecce Cor Meum from Carnegie Hall in New York (Nov. 14, 2006) and prior to the main piece, the soprano Kate Royal and another vocalist sang these songs accompanied by the same quartet that appears on Working Classical. It was essentially a live version of this album with vocals and it was brilliant as is the original Working Classical CD. My Love, Warm and Beautiful, Calico Skies and Junk come off as extraordinarily brillant as they do on this recording. These songs, whether in this form or closer to their original form, will live forever and no amount of "orchestration" can kill them.
The same reviewer wrote: "it is a sign of the decline of serious culture that so many people actually believe that this MUZAK is classical music". How pompous some classical music fans are that they cannot conceive of any important music being written in modern times. Another reviewer wrote: "an orchestrated pop song is still a pop song". Perhaps, but that is not a fatal critcism that would obviate the joy these melodies give and emotions they hold. On the contrary, this is not elevator music. Elevator music is not compelling, its not memorble and its not written by a genius named Paul McCartney.
If you were to take a sonata by a well-known classical composer and play it among 'elevator music' with an overblown song like "Feelings", for example, would that turn it into elevator music? The discerning among us know the difference. An orchestrated pop song is not just MUZAK. That is just simple-minded. This idea comes from John Lennon's song "How Do You Sleep?" during which he idenifies Paul's music as MUZAK. John later denounced and rejected the sentiments of that song.
It turns out Paul is the coolest Beatle because he is the least affected, the least afraid to worry about what people would think about his doing something like this recording. He is not worried about the posturing associated with the tough guy rock and roll image. He is first and foremost an artist and musician--one of rare quality and talent.
This is NOT classical music.......2006-11-07
It is a sign of the decline of serious culture that so many people actually believe that this MUZAK is classical music. As another reviewer wrote: an orchestrated pop song is still a pop song. It's so funny: in the 1960s, kids used to laugh at their parents for being so square for listening to 'elevator music'(i.e., orchestrated pop songs) and not being cool and listening the Beatles...and now those kids are adults and they are listening to...elevator music written by one of the Fab Four!!
one of my favoirte cds.......2006-08-05
sir paul writes such beautiful melodies. found this in the library and just loved it. it is such a peaceful pleasure to listen to. you will find some familiar tunes and other new ones. i find it moving and lovely.
Is it possible to wear out a CD?.......2006-03-26
I first heard the song "Tuesday" on my "wake-up" radio station. I was amazed and thrilled when I found Paul McCartney as the truly gifted composer, proven by this glorious work. Some of the tracks are reminiscent of old Beatles songs.
His music possesses a gentle whimsy and include orchestral or chamber versions of some of his recognizable songs such as "Junk," "My Love" and "Maybe I'm Amazed."
I'd read all the reviews and have included a snippet from one which I am happy to share... this just says it all...
Gerald R Steele
"An extension of an event, begun in the sixties, called, "The Beatles", Paul McCartney has confirmed the importance of the original Phenomena. Some of us realized that from "I Want to Hold Your Hand" a culmination of music, from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Gershwin, and Vaughn-Williams, was emerging.
One can only hope for more. This tribute to Linda may begin something that will reference a "pop-culture" that included "The Beatles" as the beginning to music that truly responds to "the inner-ear" of, at least, three generations. This is the stuff that lives for thousands of years." Thank you Gerald. Imagine, touching the hearts of THREE generations?
My own love for this album is enhanced by my friendships as I compare my feelings, during listening, to them. A dear friend, Linda, rides her mechanical steed every morning and I think of her as I listen to "The Lovely Linda". I can see her in the morning dawn, peddling along and enjoying the morning and life. "Calico Skies" is reminiscent of all my Mitford pals! So dignified and serene! I'll probably wear out this CD from playing it so much.

This song is for Lisa and me forever.......2003-02-22
I never listened to country music, but when my girlfriend made me listen to the country station one night in my car i was "amazed" at how perfect this song said ALL the exact things i felt about Lisa. I love her alot and this song will ALWAYS make me think of her, because it STILL says all the things I feel for her.
give it a chance, it's a great song. I still am not a big Country fan but this song works well past that medium.
I Love you Lisa (sorry, both a reveiw and testamonial i guess, LOL)
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!.......2001-10-27
I am not into country music, never have been and never will be. But this song gets my heart beating everytime I listen to it. It has become one of my top favorites. It is that type of song that makes you dream of Prince Charming. Give it a try, it is totally worth it!
Amazed: a great song.......2001-05-30

More than Cowboy Culture.......2000-01-14
As a former resident of Arizona I know that I can put on any of Ian's discs, close my eyes, and feel as though I'm back in the west - Ian's music deserves every good thing that has ever been said or written about it's ability to turn western life to art, but in all the dust and driving snow we may have done him an injustice in painting him as JUST a genre artist. "Lights of Larame" and "Springtime in Alberta" are two of the most breathtakingly beautiful songs I know of period. "Black Nights" is good ol hard country, "Jaquima...", and "Rocks..." are easy up tempo tracks that could be top ten material if someone named Garth had done them... Someone named Bob Wills did songs that came close, but seldom surpassed "You're not alone." It ain't just Cowboy Culture... It's great music.
Very authentic.......1999-09-17
Ian is able to capture some of the more subtle nuances of the cowboy lifestyle in his lyrics. For those of us who have actually made a living "riding the rough-string for money" or been left to cope, Ian's music reminds of the best times, but also the times we wish we could forget with uncommon clarity.
An unpretentious portrayal of the west, it's land and people.......1998-06-21
Ian Tyson is an old hand with an ever-fresh eye for painting in song the lifestyles and land of the west he loves and bemoans because of its too-rapid disappearance. His catchy melodies rope you in like the cattle he brands. His unique perspective colors your minds eye like the rainbows arcing over the range. His deep melodic voice both thunders and whispers into your heart and mind like the chinook winds and the gentle prairie breezes that presage the night. The breadth of his musical style, like the sparkling midnight skies, holds you and surprises you, tantalizes you and entertains you. The skies, the land and people tumble from his heart. His love for this land and lifestyle are brilliantly captured for your enjoyment. Sit down in front of your fireplace and be entertained by a master!

Customer Reviews:
His best work to date........2005-08-16
Lincoln Brewster is an excellent guitar player and a clever writer. His songs, like Let The Praises Ring, express his obvious love for God and passion for music. My guess is that Lincoln has a lot more to say and his best work is yet to come.
Hot guitar with great driving riffs, classic rock for Jesus.......2005-01-22
Lincoln Brewster is a real talent no matter the genre. I first heard Lincol on 'for the love of strange medicine' by Steve Perry ('Oh Sherry' and Journey fame). In this album Lincoln has brought the secular rock balad in to the praise and worship area. There are great songs that can introduce worship to non-churched people while challenging long standing Christians with challenging and uplifting lyrics. Lincoln has also provided lyric sheets and power-point to assist in using this album in church and home settings. If you like classic rock, appreciate a world class guitarist or looking for some music to use in your church, then I recommend you buy this album.
A Must-Have!.......2005-01-08
I can honestly say that I love every song on this CD. You can really tell that Lincoln Brewster is a true musician. The guitar playing is superb and the lyrics are so inspiring. I love to praise the Lord singing the songs on this CD. I never get tired of this CD either. It keeps growing and growing on me. Praise God! It's really a well-done CD.
Let The Praises Ring!!.......2004-03-10
I am AMAZED at how great this CD is!! Lincoln Brewster, who played and co-wrote songs with Steve Perry of Journey in '94, is extremely melodic, positive and uplifting! Every song on AMAZED is a pleasure. Especially, Let The Praises Ring!! A must have!
Let the Praises Ring!!!!!!!.......2004-01-27
I have not actually purchased this cd yet, but I plan to. Lately in my church, we have been having these AWESOME songs in our Praise & Worship service. After hearing them, I went online to look up who the artist was. At the time, I had never heard of Lincoln Brewster before, now I am a HUGE fan! His songs have a real grasp of what it's like to love the LORD with everything you have! You can feel Lincoln's joy in every word. I highly recommend this album, and any others by Lincoln Brewster. I can't say enough good things! Keep an eye out for this guy, he is doing great things for the Kingdom!

Soul stirring performance.......2005-10-26
Ive listened to the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir over the years and this might sound like a cliche, but this album is probably one of their best! The voices in this choir have matured over the years yet they have maintained their originality. I play this CD in my car almost every day and continue to be blessed by their spirit filled singing. There is no one word to describe the type of music this choir is capable of performing. They have proven in this CD their ability to transcend all cultural and musical styles yet the message of the Gospel is never lacking. What an amazing experience!
Amazing and Holy Spirit Filled!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-10-13

Great CD - Received Damaged.......2007-06-27
This CD was to be used for my May 19,2007 bride for her ceremony music.
The CD arrived damaged and Amazon did not have anymore in stock.
Thank God for an understanding bride.
Disappointing.......2004-10-31
A mostly music compilation that sounds like a creative mixing genius put it together. Saddly, the wedding entrance march is sung in German (I think). Some of the music is a little "thin" instead of being "full bodied". The wedding exit march will put listeners to sleep. I wish listening samples had been available or I would have saved the money.
