About the Artist
A consummate performer, Harry O'Donoghue's charismatic stage presence and musical talent have generated dedicated fans from California to New York and abroad. He began his musical career in his native Ireland, a country well known for producing gifted writers and musicians, and his body of work proves he has joined their ranks. In 1985, as a founding member of the folk group Terra Nova, Polydor Records signed him for a record deal. Since 1988, he has recorded six solo albums. Four albums contain original songs highlighting his diversity and strength as a writer as well as his interpretation of songs of other writers. Each album has a presence and balance that clearly defines to the listener that the artist is passionate about his work. Two of his albums are recorded live and show him in his element - in front of an audience where, with guitar and bodhrán and his trademark sharp wit and infectious humor, he easily draws the audience into the show.

He has toured throughout the US playing in a variety of venues from large festivals to intimate concert settings. In March of >99, Maestro Philip Greenberg invited him to sing with the Savannah Symphony. After performing at Georgia Southern University for several years, the Center for Irish Studies invited him to sit on their advisory board.

Since 1997, at the request of friends and fans, Harry has taken four tour groups to his native Ireland. With the wondrous sites to see and friendly people to meet during the day, and sessions at night, the annual now trip has been honed and improved to near perfection. In July 2000, forty-six enthusiasts toured Ireland from Galway City to Dublin town. A special treat was joining the celebration of Harry's ‘20 Years in Music' with a concert at the Drogheda Arts Center, in his hometown. The featured Harry joined by several musicians he has played with over the years.

Active in the Savannah community he now calls home, he co-produces and hosts The Green Island Radio Show - broadcast twice a month - for Peach State Public Radio. Over the last seven years, interviewing performers and songwriters for the show, as well as reviewing numerous albums from around the world, has given him material for his newsletter >Ramblings=. In July 1998 he joined the Internet market with his website which keeps fans up to date on his schedule and recordings. He also markets his music on Amazon.com.

Product Description
I had been trying to get to this project for quite a while, so it was with some relief that we sat down o a mile January morning to listen o the complete ‘Live and Well' tapes. It had been over ten years since the recording and transferring it to compact disc was no easy matter. The master tapes had simply vanished and the complete rough tapes were in such brittle condition they could not be played. We finally made a new master from the main ‘bin loop' and heat-treated the rough tapes overnight. Everything was then transferred to digital audio tape and we sat and listened. Although after all these years the temptation was there to ‘fix' some of the performances, we resisted this temptation except for a few sour notes, added a bass line to even out the bottom end, and salvaged an extra song and a couple of outtakes. This, then is the remasterd version fo one unusual evening of music, laughter and friendship in one of the best rooms in one of the most beautiful! cities in the world. Over the years I've worked closely with Phil Hadaway and without his expertise and guidance quite a lot of my projects would never have come to fruition, so once again I tip my hat to Mr. Hadaway. Thanks for the production, engineering, mastering, bass playing, conversation ‘n all.

There isn't a more ebullient live performer in all of popular music than Dolly Parton, as this chatty concert recording attests. Though Parton had been on hiatus from touring for a decade, she reconnects here with an audience that extends from country traditionalists to drag queens (to whom she dedicates her classic "Jolene"). Banjo and fiddle drive the acoustic arrangements and bluegrass harmonies highlight the choruses as Parton surveys a career-spanning selection of material on this two-disc set, applying her signature vocal quaver to hits from "Coat of Many Colors" to "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You." The concert extends her musical terrain to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush," and a breathy rendition of Bread's "If," while an a cappella medley renews the likes of "Islands in the Stream" and "Here You Come Again." Parton's in fine voice throughout and even better spirits, spending almost as much time bantering with the crowd as she does singing. Where many live recordings are little more than songs with applause, this is the full Dolly. --Don McLeese

5 out of 5 stars Two doors down?.......2006-02-01

This LP is a rare gem among the country genre. Parton's voice is angelic as is her delivery of these great tunes. Given that Parton has been established for decades, the fact that she composes these gloriously melodic songs is enough to garner this LP 5 stars. As a rule, the LIVE recordings leave so much to be desired in the quality department: Not here. Very impressive music and sound. Parton's voice is NOT over powered in these selections. Parton and all the musicians on this LP are to be thanked for a job well done. Seems so effortless, I'm certain it is not.

5 out of 5 stars Too good to be on anything but the first page.......2005-11-16

Awesome! Gabe's style reminds me of both Paul McCartney and Bruce Hornsby. Easy listening and the music is exceptional.

5 out of 5 stars Gabe Dixon is crazily talented.......2006-04-10

I saw Gabe Dixon in concert and he is phenomenal. He is one of the best piano players I've heard since Billy Joel. Gabe actually played for Paul McCartney in concert, so you know he has to be good. The music is relaxing, easy to listen to and very easy to appreciate.

    4 out of 5 stars Dixon didn't disappoint........2006-03-21

I heard the song "All is Well" in the commercials for 'Conviction' on NBC and didn't rest until I found it. The music is very engaging and listening to the whole CD is time well spent. It is live so that detracts - just a little. Has a similar sound to Bruce Hornsby of whom I'm a great fan. Nice little CD.

    5 out of 5 stars Gabe Dixon.......2006-03-04

The guy is a super song writer/singer. Hopefully he will record a full length cd in the near future.

1 out of 5 stars Artifice not art.......2005-04-20

This album is a big tub of artifice not art. Brian Adams is awful and simply has no voice and probably has nodes on his vocal cords. Pavarotti obviously stands out because he chose the other singers and despite the enormity of his talent (benefit charity or not) offers up shlock. Gustafson has a nice voice, but shouldn't sing Moon River until she learns the words - her voice serves the classical genre better. As for Boceli; I would rather eat worms than listen to another of his tremulous renditions. Sorry, this is pure junk for the ears, regardless of its attempts to raise funds. It does not raise artistic standards!

5 out of 5 stars Live Audience, Variety=Enjoyable Listening Experience.......2002-09-12

O.k., I admit it, I bought this CD because I'm a die hard Andrea Bocelli fan, but I discovered I really love the variety of singers and the spontaneity and excitement of the live performance at the Parco Novi Sad in Modena. Particular favorites--Bryan Adam's "Please Forgive Me," Pavarotti and Giorgia's "Santa Lucia Luntana," and the ensemble singing of "Brindisi." The combination of voices and styles, the live
audience, and the knowledge that the event was performed for charity, all add up to a very enjoyable listening experience.

    5 out of 5 stars Fun.......2002-02-07

This is a fun CD with many great singers and a good one. Of Course Pavarotti is one of the greatest voices ever; and along with Bocelli, Nancy Gustafson and Giorgia this CD is filled with great singing and Brian Adams is a good singer. Its just fun to hear Adams singing O Sola Mio with Pavarotti; and its Fun to Hear Pavarotti sing Moon River All for Love, etc.,. Highlights are Santa Lucia Luntana with Pav and Gustafson, Who Wants To Live Forever with Giorgia, Notte 'e Piscatore with Pav and Bocelli, and the two encores with everyone singing (All For Love and Brindisi). The Production of the CD is excelent as well.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent live album.......2001-11-08

This is the 2nd in the 'Pavarotti and Friends' series of benefit concerts. Although there are not the large amount of "superstars" on this cd as later 'Friends' albums were to have, this is an excellent live recording, and I could and have listened to it many times. I don't understand the previous reviewers, but to each his own! This album also introduced me to the beautiful voice of Nancy Gustafson, and I definately want to check out her other work now. And who can resist the wonderful pairing of Pavarotti and Bryan Adams on "O Sole Mio". Worth the price in itself. One thing though .. I know this album and concert was done for charity, but nowhere in the booklet or cd cover does it say which charity is benefitting. The booklet includes lots of photos from the night. Recommended.

    1 out of 5 stars torture.......2001-09-25

i would rather ingest shards of glass than listen to this schlock again. whoever thought up the idea of having the phenomenal pavarotti sing with such morons as bryan adams should be forced to stand in the corner and then go to bed without supper. i don't care if this was for a good cause. big deal. give to the red cross or something. but don't make me listen to this horrific CD ever again. it's painful.

5 out of 5 stars These Guys Should Be Superstars.......2006-02-22

I have now purchased all of their albums, and I can't pick a favorite - each is excellent: thoughtful lyrics and wonderful harmonies. Dan Navarro's voice is so smoothe and Eric Lowen's high harmonies just fit perfectly. I've been lucky to see them in small venues three times in the last six months - and can not believe they don't command more of a following. They joke about being a non-profit organization (not by design). If you have a chance to see them live - don't miss it: the music is wonderful, they are both witty and intelligent and they have a real connection to the audience. If you can't make their show, this disc is the next best thing. Next, you will want to buy "All the Time In the World" and then "Walking On a Wire." Then, you will be like me, saying "Why the hell aren't these guys SUPERSTARS!!!"

5 out of 5 stars Lowen and Navarro at their best.......2003-11-19

L&N combine terrific harmonies with an accoustical backdrop. The quality of the album demonstrates their strength as musicians and singers, capture the qualities of a live show with nearly the production values of a studio recording. Their music touches the heart and appeals to people young and old.

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2002-09-30

I feel like I've been missing something for many years. Heard L&N on NPR this past summer and then ordered Live Radio on line. I can't get enough of this CD. Usually after a while the newness fades but with this gem there is something different to hear all the time. Their songwriting is superb, the playing totally clean, the harmonies powerful, and the production on this CD perhaps the best I've ever heard. Hard to imagine it wasn't done in a studio with numerous takes. These guys must be fabulous live and I'm looking for them to come anywhere near here. Can't recommend this CD enough. It's 6+ stars.

    5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2002-08-30

I first heard about these two very talented songwriters/singers during an interview on NPR's Morning Edition. I thought I'd buy the CD after they played two of the tracks from it. I haven't been disappointed. In fact, I listen to it every day at work and plan to purchase the rest of their CD's. They are so good that it is hard to believe that these recordings are live performances. Great lyrics, amazing harmony, solid tunes.

It's said politics makes strange bedfellows. But it's got nothing on the peculiar marriage of art and history inspired by the tragic events of 9/11/01. Before that day, Daniel Rodriguez was a member of New York's finest, working as an NYPD security officer at the Manhattan South precinct. If it seemed an odd calling for a gifted, operatically trained tenor, it was employment many a journeyman artist could relate to: the proverbial "day job." As it turns out, no police academy in the world could have trained Rodriguez for the crucial role his city's darkest hour thrust upon him. While his colleagues mourned their staggering losses and toiled around the clock in rescue efforts, Rodriguez delivered renditions of "God Bless America" that rallied both his city and his country, much as Kate Smith's version of the Irving Berlin patriotic standard had done at the dawn of WWII.

Contemporary jazz great-producer Tom Scott took it from there, showcasing Rodriguez's powerful voice in this deftly arranged album focused sharply on personal and national inspiration. Taking his cue from his own hero, Mario Lanza, Rodriguez instills no small amount of drama in his performances, and it serves him well on tracks like the American folk classic "Shenandoah," a rousing take on Scarlet Pimpernel's "Into the Fire," and the relative Sinatra rarity "The House I Live In." The "God Bless America" here varies from the original single release, with Rodriguez reading the spoken intro once delivered by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Is Rodriguez the greatest tenor of modern times? No. But it's hard to imagine a talent better suited to the challenge history has thrust upon him; we're lucky--make that blessed--to have him. --Jerry McCulley

This cd will bring tears to your eyes. His voice is so clear and lovely. I bought this cd for my mother for her birthday in September. It is so sad that the events of September 11 had to occur for this man to be discovered.

5 out of 5 stars God Bless Daniel Rodriquez.......2007-07-16

This alblum is a treasure to own and listen to. He really captures the spirit of patriotism. I have played his songs at a local fireworks show that I DJ at and his songs are up there with the other songs by artists by Mr. Lee "God Bless The U.S.A." Greenwood and other great artists. New York City and the nation needed him at a time when we were trying to recover from the worst tragedy in the history of the U.S.A. and he was there for us.

5 out of 5 stars Music From and For the Heart.......2006-11-25

Daniel's album is music to be shared with family and with friends to help further ensure warmth, strong family ties, and love of our beautiful country. His voice is magical, skilled, rich and so memorable that it can take one on a journey from yesterday to promise for a bright tomorrow. This is a superb rendering of past unforgettable music. His solemn rendition of the peace song "God Bless America" is the album's centerpiece and truly unforgettable....

    5 out of 5 stars Daniel Rodriguez.......2006-11-11

I first heard of Daniel Rodriguez a couple of months ago when he sang on Jay Leno's show. He was/is WONDERFUL! His voice is beautiful, but he sings from the heart, and that makes him exceptional.

4 out of 5 stars Some definite winners on this album.......2005-12-14

My favorites are "Ave Maria" and "The Lord's Prayer" where Daniel truly shows off his vocal talents. I could have done without the choir backup on "Ave Maria" but nonetheless a great rendition.

The ending that he has for the "The Lord's Prayer" almost brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it. Well done Daniel.

The CD is good. It switches from live performances to tracks accompanied by 'mood' music. Personally, I prefer the live or acapella tracks because Acey often speaks with a high level of energy. That energy coupled with intellectually stimulating speech makes for good work with every release. My favorites on this particular CD; Market 4 Niggas & Picture This (Orig.)

I play this albumn every day, in my car and at home. I exercise with it, I groove with it, I pretend I am part of the band. When will these extraordinarly talented brothers and their band get their due recognition? If I am down, all I have to do is put this cd or any one of their others cd's and I am out of my bad funk and groovin in the good funk.

I just saw them perform two weeks ago at the San Diego Sports Arena and the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine and they kicked [bottom]. Charlie is the sexiest thing on the planet and what a performer. I was in heaven for two nights in a row.

And what a class act they are. At the end of one of the performances they brought their Dad on stage. It was very moving.
And Charlie's message to all of us, a Gap Band concert ain't nothing but a party. No place for violence or anything else. Ain't nothing but a party...
From a committed GAPPER for eternity.

P.S. See y'all in the Rock In Roll Hall Of Fame...

The Gap Band is blazing on this disc.the grooves are still sounding crisp&Charlie Wilson hasn't Lost a thing.this is what real R-N-B should sound like.very Tight&a Must have.cuz back in the day you weren't nothing unless you could take it to the stage.and the Gap Band could then&now.

    5 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING.......1999-12-19

I absolutely love this CD. I play this all the time. I especially love tracks 13 and 14. This is my favorite band and favorite CD. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed if you purchase this Live and Well CD. What a great way for the Gap Band to come back. Charlie will always be the man.

5 out of 5 stars The foundation of funk is secure forever........1999-09-25

This live album is just that, "LIVE"! The band is alive and enchanting, taking the audience on a musical journey that few of them probably imagined while on the way to the show.

From the opening annoucement, to the ending of the shoo-be mix of "Yearning", you can't help but bob your head and STOMP your feet. Charlie Wilson reminds you why artists such as R. Kelly, Aaron Hall, Stokley (of Mint Condition), Johnny Gill, and many others have picked up his style.

If you love to "see" the performance you "hear" then you should already have this in your live album collection. What, you're still readiing this?! Get going...!

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Marvelous Darling!!!.......1999-06-01

This is one of the best live cd's. I really enjoyed the entire concert. In fact, it brought back memories of the concert i attended featuring the Gap Band in Memphis Tn in the 80's. We have an oldies radio station in Memphis but I have yet to hear one of my favorite songs called No Hiding Place. As I was listening to the cd i realized this song really has a place in my heart forever. At one time in my life I was that lonely girl Charlie was singing about. I still feel that song. I will always love The Gap Band. Very few groups these days have the talent that these guys have. When will they get a legendary award? They are truly deservant & long over due for such an honorable recognition.

    5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully diverse.......2001-02-11

Recorded live from the Parco Novi Sad, in Modena Italy, on 20 June 1996, this is another of Pavarotti's wonderful concerts to benefit children who are caught up in the horrors of war. Some of the worlds best performers have gotten together for a diverse musical experience that defies language barriers, as well as musical genres. Practically everything is covered on this album. From rock, pop, classical, blues, sacred, jazz and latin...it's all here. Whatever your musical preference, this is an album that should appeal to all in it's diversity, and considering the worthy cause, a necessity for music lovers. And where else will you be able to hear Pavarotti exercising his chops with the likes of Eric Clapton, Liza Minelli, Sheryl Crow, Jon Secada, Joan Osborne and Elton John! And speaking of Sheryl Crow, you cannot miss her singing a Mozart opera aria with Pavarotti. She is truly amazing...who would have believed it. She more than holds her own with the maestro. This is a must have.

4 out of 5 stars Incredibly life-affirming! Musical diversity at its best........1999-06-12

This CD has two levels of depth. Listen to it as blend of Euro-pop and US big-names, THEN try again.

"Holy Mother" travels from its prayer for strength to the junked-out streets screaming for survival in "Saint Teresa". On the journey continues to Elton's "Live Like Horses"-- his personal tribute to Versace. There, the classical truly melds with contemporary anthem-- and begs us to be free of our self imposed fences and walls. Food for thought and music to soothe the soul. This collection helped me survive my dear niece's suicide.

    Thank you Pavarotti!

      Album Description

The hilarious Christine Lavin literally shines in live performance as she straps on a miner's headlamp and twirls her glowing batons. But the real sparkle comes from Lavin's sung and spoken wit - this singer-songwriter-guitarist regales and involves her fans with riotously acute original songs, comic monologues, quizzes, contests, and, in this case, her quest to identify Mr. Colorado Springs in the audience at the 2003 benefit concert captured on this CD.

"Sometimes Mother Really Does Know Best" is the award-winning Ms. Lavin's seventeenth album in a recording career that stretches back to 1981. Some songs here have appeared on her previous CDs, but never like this! One of Christine's signature compositions, "What Was I Thinking?," resurfaces with updated needling of Martha Stewart, while the affectionately rueful "You Look Pretty Good for Your Age" is wrapped around Christine's search for Mr. Colorado Springs. Five other favorites are captured "live" for the first time, including the tropical ordeal of "Wind Chimes and the anthem of the uncoordinated, "Ballad of a Ballgame." There are also three new songs here.

At least half the fun of this CD comes from Christine's giddy but incisively sarcastic song intros and a half-dozen comic monologues. "What kind of a ridiculous glamour trajectory am I on?" conveys her outrage at being mistaken for an ex-nun and a lunch lady; "Bernice, Carol, and tonight's crowd compete for the science prize" is a quiz that involves such brain teasers as "How many roads MUST a man walk down before they call him a man?"

Armed only with a guitar, a Boomerang sampling device that multiplies and delays her vocals into harmonies and swirling rounds, a wry, mocking self-awareness and boundless insight into contemporary culture, the Christine Lavin live experience is just as funny when heard at home, as preserved on this disc. Lighten up and laugh for almost 75 minutes!
