About the Artist
R. Beth Hicks studied classical flute in college, then went on to freelance extensively in Ohio, playing in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo. In the mid-1990's, she felt a great desire to explore the music of her heritage - Appalachian and Irish. Since then, she's formed the band Knot Fibb'n and has developed quite a reputation as an Irish flutist. She blends her classical training with folk, blues, and jazz for a sound that is very distinctive and pleasant. And regarding her whistle playing, John Whelan (seven time All-Ireland Button Box champion and Narada recording artist/producer) commented that it "is as good as any in the business."

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Rare and Moving.......2002-01-30

I was first introduced to Beth's work by Trudy Brandenburg (White Light guided meditation). She let me borrow her copy of My Heart Says Goodbye and later I bought a copy myself. It is such a wonderful compilation of quietly beautiful songs. I found myself thinking of my favorite loved ones and contemplating the gifts that they have given me. So much in music is overly commercial and artificial these days. It's such a relief to happen upon something so true.

Thanks Beth!!!

5 out of 5 stars Good to listen to during rainstorms :).......2001-05-03

I really like the cd. It blends many different backgrounds, and also features the talent of Ric Smith, Renilda Marshall, Tim O'Neil, and Karl Wohlwend from her band Knot Fibb'n as well. Having heard Beth play in concert is a true joy, and I am lucky to be able to call her friend :)

5 out of 5 stars Even my cat likes it.......2000-12-09

This is a beautiful collection of music that is wonderful for quiet and contemplative moments. The artist leads us on a path of memories, quiet grief, acceptance and release. I recently put this CD on in my car during a trip with my cat, thinking to calm my nerves from her crying, and was suprised to find that even she was calmed by it! Can't get a better recommendation than that!

5 out of 5 stars Emotional Healing.......2000-10-01

While listening to the CD I could feel the artist's pain as well her transitional healing process. She managed to blend so many emotions into this CD that the mind could wander from sad memories to those that were most happy. To listen to such music while remembering your loved ones can bring about an emotional healing process. The tunes are enjoyable, heartfelt and can gladen the soul. Whether I want to meditate or just have my spirits lifted, this music brings me home.
