Double album of an acoustic set performed live at London's 12 Bar Club by former Wildhearts frontman Ginger. Includes some of his more varied solo material alongside versions of Wildhearts classics such as '29x The Pain', 'Caffeine Bomb' and 'Geordie In Wonderland'. Ginger Strikes Back Again but this Time with an Accoustically Challenged 2-disc Set Recorded Live at the 12 Bar Club in London's Denmark Street. Unlike the Majority of Rock's Famous Double Live Albums, Live at the 12 Bar Can Honestly Claim to have No Amount of Cosmetic Studio Trickery Inflited Upon it and is Represented Here in the Raw, as it Went Down on that Hot N' Sleazy August Night in 1998. Captured Along with the Audience Banter Are Such Wildhearts Classics as 'caffeine Bomb', 29x the Pain' and 'georgie in Wonderland', plus Covers Such as Kiss', 'hard Luck Woman' and the Korgis, 'if I Had You'. Adding to the Party Atmosphere Are Guest Appearances from Past Wildhearts Troopers, Cj, Danny Mccormack and Ritch Battersby on Tambourine and Shakers. This album is downright unbearable to listen to. Horrible voice, cheesy guitar leads. I didn't know it was possible to sing in one tempo and play guitar in another (the point being, this guy wanders in and out of time through the whole live performance, a sign of lacking talent, at least while performing live). I expected much more from an allegedly seasoned musician. I would suggest Bert finds a rythm section to keep him in check.

I bought this CD on a gamble as there were no reviews to be found. I should let everyone who is interested know that it is really quite good. It is an authorised bootleg taken from a residency that Bert did in London 1995.
It features some new material that, as the liner notes suggest, is "quite stunningly equal to, and stylistically reminiscent of, his greatest work of the Transatlantic era."
Here we find Bert on stage by himself, singing folk songs and playing his guitar in typical fantastically skillful fashion. A pleasurable experience. Recommended to Bert fans.
