Sousa's marches.......2007-06-28
Excellent CD! I'm happy with the speed in which it arrived at our home.
OK, But Not As Good As the Original.......2006-08-12
It's OK, but doesn't have the quality of Sousa's original songs which were also played by a United States Marine Band.
Sousa Marches, MC Band.......2006-08-04
I was totally happy with the CD. It was everything I expected it to be. Thanks Much
This is so great!.......2005-03-27
This music speaks to my inner being, my father was a Marine with the ETC, and it was not an easy time. Music like this helped him think about how the best things in life are two doors down on the left, just a shade away from peace. I love this music, track 13 speaks to me so much that I am not sure if I have the time to listen as much as I want to! Such great music!
A Great Sousa Collection.......2004-12-15
These recordings seem to date from the 1960s and reflect a style of play that is impossible to find today. Some people might consider the sound to be too bright, the entrances too aggressive. But I think this is more authentic for Sousa than what one generally hears today. Sousa himself is known to have preferred "enthusiastic" entrances from his players, to have favored an "orchestral" sonority for his band and to have played his marches in strict tempo with no ritards or tempo changes. That is what you have on this disc, which features the Marine Band under Lt. Col. Albert Schoepper, who also conducts on Volume 3 of Altissimo's Sousa Original series.

Invincible is great! .......2007-05-30
It's a great music mix--perfect for cleaning house, working out in the yard, or a cookout. Great pick!
The music that made Invinciple "real".......2007-05-08
The music is awesome! It brings you right back into the 1970's were you can actually feel the atmosphere. You can't help but think of childhood or teenage memories and smile as you listen to this CD. There is a song on this CD for everyone-regardless of your age.
For the 70s Rock Fan.......2007-04-04
A solid collection of hits from various artists. Many of these songs
receive little or no airplay these days (2007), so the music sounds fresh.
My personal favorites are tracks by Ace (featuring Paul Carrack) and Ted
Nugent. Re-discover, reminisce, re-live, rewind, and replay...you'll do
it all.
Off the Chain.......2007-03-28
This is a great soundtrack. The only way it could have been better is to have had more Jim Croce tunes on it. Overall it is a great feel good kind of music cd and will be enjoyed by most listeners.
Brings back memories.......2007-02-15
They did a great job telling a great story about a great person

For such a boldly titled and apparently driven attempt to reinstate Michael Jackson at the center of the pop world, Invincible is a listless thing. Split between scratchy funk workouts and midtempo ballads that might have appeared as Bad B-sides, the album plays on and on while never seriously promoting dancing or romancing. Its handful of weird moments--the resurrection-by-tape of Biggie Smalls on the bridge of the title track, for instance--are hardly large-scale bizarre like the first disc of HIStory. The title track turns out to be hardly the rampant egofest you'd imagine; instead, its subject is a female whom Jackson cheers on. Likewise, the most ear-catching moments of the "comeback" single "You Rock My World" come with Chris Tucker's jivey introduction. Despite a debt to "Payback"-era James Brown, "Rock" floats away like steam midway through. It's almost a relief when the old self-regard turns up: on the growling "Privacy," Jackson rants about muckrakers "stalking" him in search of "the stories you need to bury me," all this long after foundering divas and troubled boy-group members have replaced him on tabloid covers. The man may occasionally break away from the mirror but seems unsure where else to find inspiration. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
Invisible.......2007-06-18
Michael Jackson comes back from a long hiatus with an album that's nowhere near as great as Dangerous, Thriller, Off The Wall etc. On this album he takes a more softer R&B approach which is unlike his earlier works which were more upbeat and more lively than this album. The Good: Unbreakable is a vintage Michael Jackson track that reminds us of the old Mike and even though I'm not fond of him using Biggie's rhymes(because it reeks of a desperation to be accepted by the younger masses), I still dig the track. Break Of Dawn and Butterflies are two R&Bish tracks that I'll admit I liked when I first heard them. The Bad: Heatbreaker and Invincible are pitiful attempts by Michael to bring back The Off The Wall days but as bad as they are nothing in comparison to the dreary Heaven Can Wait. His first single You Rock My World is straight manure and it made me second guess the quality of this album which I now know is deader than Michael's career. Tracks like You Are My Life, Dont Walk Away and Speechless are a perfect cure to insomnia and so is the Carlos Santana assisted Whatever Happens. The Ugly: The nightmarish sounding Privacy is probably Michael's worst offense until...... You hear 2000 Watts!!! Tyrese should have kept this godawful track to himself and Threatened is a great way to close out the album.....sike!!! Pure Garbage! Bottom Line: Michael Jackson's Invincible does a great disservice to the king of pop. Simply put it was a deadly dull album that put the nail in the coffin for Michael Jackson's career. Dont think that I hate Michael. I still have vinyl versions of Dangerous, Thriller, Bad and Off The Wall at my house but those albums were enjoyable classics that will still get rotation. Invincible is avoidable and makes Blood On The Dance Floor(which sucked) seem more inviting. To Michael Jackson: Please hang it up. You've had your fun in the sun giving us timeless masterpieces for decades. Its time to quit now. I heard your new song with The Youngbloodz and in the words of Mary J Blige: All That I Can Say is doodoo doodoo doodoo!!!!!
will this album live on or not?.......2007-04-22
michael is now working on a new album with producers like will.i.am and once again rodney jerkins. Depending on the quality of that album, it will either outdo invincible in terms of quality, or just not be good and make invincible stand out as the better album from him of this decade.
From what I'm hearing, the new album will have strong melodies like off the wall with a sound never heard before; the same kind of hype that came during the making of invincible. Should we believe them or not? As a longtime fan, I want to believe the new album will be fab, and I think it will since several of the tracks on invincible and the ultimate collection box set seemed to be going in the right direction, back to his r&b roots.
It's good, but by MJ standards, it's a C+/B- album. .......2007-04-21
This album has a couple of really nice cuts off of it with "You Rock My World", "Unbreakable", and "Break of Dawn". They're all very nice songs, and "Whatever Happens", and "Speechless" aren't bad, but when you compare this album to OFF THE WALL, THRILLER, BAD, and DANGEROUS, this album is treated like a spare tire. Hopefully Michael Jackson's new album coming this fall (2007), will be better. If he can release more songs of "You Rock My World" quality and put out another "Billie Jean" or "Beat It", then we can really say the King of Pop is back, but if he's putting out another Invincible, I will be kind of sad. That all being said, being the MJ fan that I am, I'm still going to buy the new album, because I'm confident it will have one or two cuts worth having.
he should have done what beyonce did.......2007-04-07
he should have made a music video for each track and rereleased it. He is, after all, the king of music videos so I'm sure the album would have sold in the 5-10 million range had he done that. He could have just done that and then stopped promoting invincible and that would have been fine. Whenever he's putting out music, people can't say anything bad about him, as was proven during HIStory and that tour.
Amazing Comback Mr. Jackson!!!!!!.......2007-03-29
First of all Rickey Wright is an idiot, and secondly this is a great cd no matter what any one says.
Rock on Michael!!!!!!!

k.d. lang may still go lowercase, but Invincible Summer is Love-struck with a capital L. Following in the footsteps of the multiplatinum Ingénue and the underappreciated All You Can Eat, the singer's first album of original material since 1995 displays her hyperromantic side. Inventive production by Damian Le Gassick places lang's rich vocals in settings that meld electric and acoustic guitar lines, harpsichords, string arpeggios, and various aural bachelorette-pad accoutrements. The record's overwhelmingly smitten tone sweeps the listener along, making even silly sentiments like "In this crazy world full of lemons / Baby, you're lemonade" sound just right. The vividness of emotion on display here, along with the smart retro-modern sound, make this one you'll listen to long past September. --Rickey Wright

truly flawless.......2006-12-25
Well being that its christmas eve.. You can figure out what kind of mood I am in.. This album helps me to find some solace .. Once hearing this album I have nothing but the utmost respect for kdlang.. She pours her heart out in this album and it shows.. One of the most underrated albums of the decade.. Better every time I listen to it.. I wish the version of consequences of falling from "sweet november" was on here as an bonus.. Check that one out!! Oh well maybe on a reissue.. jeff thompson dvill va
Old fashioned melodies , with some updated production.......2005-10-07
I find that the listener can lose themselves in kd's albums and this one is no exception . She has updated her sound with earlier albums such as ALL YOU CAN EAT and the different sorts of electronic beats or rhythm backgrounds do suit her , though one has to get used to them .
Luckily , her voice is the one thing that can hold it all together .
One of kd's lyrical obsessions is love , but haven't lots of other songwriters felt the same way ?
Somehow , kd seems to give the topic a new spin .
Reading her own lyrics will give you a better idea of what I mean by that .
This album will show you what contemporary music sounds like , yet it also harks back to earlier days because of the craft in kd's voice and the care put into it .
It is very enjoyable and is one of the most played albums in my collection . I recommend it to those who like hearing a beautiful voice in different and modern settings .
Only a handful of songs stand out on this album.......2005-09-01
Although k.d. lang's vocals are impressive, the individual songs sound unfinished and underdeveloped. While these compositions were developed within the throes of love, they do little to spark the imagination beyond the romantic affair. Standout songs such as "Summerfling" and "When We Collide" make relevant ties to summer, but the other songs like "Everything I Do" and "The Consequences of Falling" could have appeared on any album. What might have worked is if lang used another season to juxtapose with summer--especially if love is going to be the primary theme.
Invincibly SummerTastic!.......2005-06-23
Forget about ANY of the naysayers in these reviews, they're missing the whole point: Sometimes it's simply NOT about vocal drama and laryngeal gyrations - sometimes it's all just simply about flowing melodicism and ebullience - two things this album has in dazzling abundance! Moreover kd does not merely repeat past glories or plunder sounds of the past she goes forward following and re-inventing her muse: This is not a retro album by any means other than the sentimentality and atmosphere evoked by the melodies and I defy anyone to find a record which has the same combination of sounds and grooves. This record does what the very best and affecting albums of all time do; it transports the listener to that truly magical musical realm where past, present and future combine simultaneously in the now creating a genuinely timeless experience: Invincible Summer is THE perfect companion piece to Ingenue. Where Ingenue was all liquid glissando vocals and pizzicato strings, this is a funkier, bubblier, altogether sunnier affair - literally summer in song! Whereas Ingenue was darker, reflective and achingly hopeful, Invincible Summer is exactly what it says; a celebration of joy, enthusiasm and the bright, warmth of love and lust. Prepare to be joyblasted into the sunshine of the soul. One of kd's VERY best NO doubt.
Exceptionally Well Done!.......2004-10-22
Wow!! What a great experience listening to this immensely intense and creative artist, who is not afraid to be herself in an incredibly judgemental world. Bravo KD! Best tracks are: "Consequences of Falling," "Summerfling," "Love's Great Ocean," "Simple" and "Curiousity." Her voice is like no other voice, always right on key, soulful. She is in complete control of the melody, and she makes it her own. Instrumentation as in past efforts like "Ingenue" are top notch. She shares her soul with the world, letting us see the incredible beauty within. Thanks KD for your brilliance. You are like a multi-colored shooting star. I hope you travel far. I'm looking forward to getting "Songs from the 49th Parallel." It sounds like a gem!

Sousa.......2007-07-25
I love Sousa marches but this recording while comprehensive and cheep lacks much to be desired in the musical rendension. It lacks the spark and musicality of Sousa.
Sousa By the Royal Marines.......2007-03-31
This is a great CD re-issue of the Band of the Royal Marines School of Music under Graham Hoskins. This band did a three LP series on Sousa marches some years ago that was better than most on this very well covered topic. Sousa march recordings will always come and go, but some like this stand out more than others. For one, there is nothing like the panache of a Royal Marines band. Their sound is a time honored development that gets passed from one generation to the next. Even as the number of RM bands continues to change and downsize, there are now about four bands left in the service, their sound quality continues to be superb.
When these recordings were made RM bands were still at their height in the British service and their quality was amazing. Most bands numbered over 60 in this period, and that is why many Americans may be surprsed at the volume of music produced here. This is not one of your small, though excellent regimental bands! Americans tend to think that British military band instrumentation is on the thin side. Not so here! Of course Sousa always sounds best with either the Allentown band or the US Marine band.
This CD is evidence of how popular Sousa has always been in the UK, and with RM bands in particular. The selection here on two CDs covers most of the standard Sousa fair, with a few different selections here and there. Unfortunatley there are none of Sousa's fine transcriptions for classical music, or selections from his operettas. This music is always wonderful to have in combination with the marches as it shows how much variety he was capable of in his compositions. For that kind of concert the reader is referred to the very fine collection of Sousa music being done under the Naxos label by the Band of the Royal Artillery.
Here you will find a solid collection of Sousa's great marches. Roughly a third of those 136 compositions are contained here. The Royal Marines give a sharpe and clear sound to these works which should certainly inspire. You will also get a very nice idea how RM bands sounded back in the 1980s. Graham Hoskins was a fine director of music, typical of the inhouse genius of the Royal Marines Band Service at that time. He took this band on a USA tour in 1985 with the Arygll & Sutherland Highlanders. Devotees of Sousa should enjoy these spirited versions of the march king's music as performed across the pond.
Still Among the Best.......2006-06-01
I bought two audio casettes with these marches back in the 1980's and wore them out. These performances are hard to beat for virtuosity, enthusiasm, and sparkle. The sound quality is outstanding. And there are some marches that are rarely, if at all, available.
How Sousa Should Sound.......2006-03-07
Great value 2 cd disc set cut in the early 1980's & remastered the sound of the Royal Marines Band is nothing short of terrific. Judging by the sound would not be surprised for this to be a combined double RM band. These 1st chair players give Sousa's great marches that extra kick that takes the "March Kings" music to that higher level. By the center quick march!!!!

Awesome. Just awesome........2007-02-15
My first intro to Skillet was a while back and I had only heard Collide. As is my custom when I find a band I dig, I went back to find what else they had. Man, am I glad I did.
Invincible is a great album. The messages are uplifting and the tunes, a nice blend of hard chords and techno beats (as they sound to my uneducated ear).
I'd definitely recommend this to a friend.

Great Sound!.......2007-05-19
The sound quality is the best I've ever heard on a march CD -- bright and crisp -- no muffled cymbals here, but also no overly-brassy brass. I'm not too keen on some of the selections (The Virginians, Barnum and Bailey's), but others (like Americans We) are truly beautiful. The Forward March CD is a great collection of marches. I have listened to the CD three times in the last few weeks and my students have replayed the CD over and over at the band room. A worthwhile addition to your library.
Altissimo! Finally Has a Winner!.......2005-08-02
Finally a CD from Altissimo! of decent length with a solid march program. Instead of the usual patriotic dribble that we normally get on this label at last we have some real marches! Many of the selections are well known, but there are a few gems here. The performances are first-rate as to be expected by this premier band. For a change it looks like Altissimo! put together a winner from the extensive library of the bands' recorded music. Most likely none of the pieces played here are current recordings, but are taken from the bands own library which is what Altissimo! does with all of their products. In other words this is not an original recording. Still, the material is good and worthwhile. The program notes are better than usual as well. Altissimo! is slowly getting more professional in their products. Its been a gradual process indeed!
Foward March! America's Great Marches.......2005-05-08
FORWARD MARCH!IS A NATIONAL TREASURE!
THE 17 GREATEST AMERICAN MARCHES? THEY ARE RECREATED ON THIS NEW CD BY THE U.S. ARMY BAND, "PERSHING'S OWN".
FOR 130 YEARS THESE 17 NATIONAL MARCHES HAVE "INSPIRED US, MARCHED TROOPS INTO FORMATION, CELEBRATED OUR NATIONAL PRIDE", AND ENTERTAINED US IN CONCERT. NOW FORWARD MARCH! SHOWCASES AMERICA'S GREATEST PATRIOTIC MARCHES-EACH MARCH WRITTEN WITH PRIDE BY AN AMERICAN AND PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY IN EVERY SENSE BY THE U.S. ARMY BAND UNDER LEADER AND COMMANDER COLONEL GARY F. LAMB.
COL LAMB HAS INCLUDED THE MARCHES THAT I THINK WOULD MAKE ANYONE'S "A LIST", SUCH AS OUR NATIONAL MARCH, SOUSA'S "STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER" AND THE ESSENTIAL "WASHINGTON POST". BUT SINCE A CONSTANT 120 BEATS PER MINUTE "MARCH TEMPO" CAN BECOME MONOTONOUS(IF YOU'RE NOT MARCHING!), COL LAMB HAS INCLUDED THE COMPLEX (AND DIFFICULT!) "COMMANDO MARCH" BY SAMUEL BARBER(WHOSE MUSIC WAS USED IN THE MOVIE PLATOON) AND THE VERY SLIGHTLY SLOWER PACED "WASHINGTON GRAYS" , THE OLDEST MARCH IN THIS COLLECTION(1861) TO CHANGE THE PACE-LITERALLY. "WASHINGTON GRAYS", LIKE "COMMANDO MARCH" IS A CONCERT MARCH. IT HAS MANY CONTRASTS IN MOOD AND DYNAMICS, WHICH COL LAMB AND THE BAND DEMONSTRATE SUBERBLY, USING ANY OPPORTUNITY THE MUSIC PRESENTS FOR CREATING CONTRAST AND INTEREST --VERY IMPORTANT WHEN THE CD CONTAINS ONLY ONE GENRE! EACH MARCH IS TREATED WITH THE SAME CARE AND IN SOME PASSAGES ALMOST REVERENCE. VIRTUOSITY IS EFFORTLESS---THE HARD SOUNDS EASY! EXAMPLES ARE THE FAMOUS PICCOLOS IN "STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER" , AND THE BARITONE/FRENCH HORNS(HEROIC INSTRUMENTS!) AS THEY ENJOY THE HIGH TESTOSTERONE OPENING FANFARE OF "THE VIRGINIANS" (THE LATTER MARCH IS THE YOUNGEST IN THE GROUP(1992), BUT IT CLEARLY DESERVES MEMBERSHIP.)
"THE CHIMES OF LIBERTY", "NATIONAL EMBLEM", AND "AMERICANS WE", WERE CLEARLY COMPOSED WITH NATIONAL PRIDE ---AND ON THIS CD THE PREMIER MUSICAL ORGANIZATION OF THE U.S. ARMY PERFORMS THEM WITH PARTICULAR PRIDE .
THESE "GREAT 17" MARCHES, OUR NATIONAL MUSICAL TREASURES, ARE HONORED ONCE MORE, AND INSPIRE US ONCE MORE THANKS TO THE SKILL AND DEVOTION OF THE U.S. ARMY BAND AND IT'S LEADER COLONEL LAMB. WELL DONE SOLDIERS!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FORWARD MARCH!

Forward March! .......2005-05-04
FORWARD MARCH! is an enjoyable and stimulating album which provides an unusual mix of traditional marches and not often heard compositions.
The United States Army Band is magnificent in its superb technical presentation of the broad spectrum of music contained on the CD and that unquestionably makes it worth acquiring.
Altissimo! Recordings once again educates listeners, as it did in HAIL TO THE CHIEF, by exposing them to pieces which have historical as well as musical significance. It carefully points out those works which are parade marches versus concert marches --- describing the Washington Grays as the "forerunner" of the latter.
The documentation which accompanies the CD provides a brief but tantalizing sense of who or what prompted the composition. Consequently, a far better appreciation for each selection is the result. The overall effect is a noteworthy collection of thoroughly enjoyable music for all to hear!
FORWARD MARCH! is a must for those who enjoy the uplifting of spirit which the march as a style of music provides!

This is the Sousa record for people who are serious about marches. Sousa was the greatest march composer in the history of, well, marching, and this disc includes many fresh and interesting pieces that will likely be unfamiliar, as well as a couple of favorites (including "The Liberty Bell," famous as the theme to Monty Python's Flying Circus). But by and large, this disc focuses on the less well known pieces, though there's not a dud in the lot. Sousa had a special gift for orchestration and for writing tunes with real rhythmic interest; his marches never sound dull. Frederick Fennell is the simply the best wind band conductor around, and these performances are standard- setters. --David Hurwitz

Fennell Brings Out the Best in Sousa 's Marches.......2004-02-21
This is an outstanding CD. The sound quality is very good. The instrumental balance is very good. It's interesting to compare the rather subtle difference in the percussion section performance between the two recording dates, particulalarly the cymbalist.
Sousa had an uncanny ability to score the cymbal strike at places which add significantly to the listening experience.
Hats off to Sousa, Fennell, and the Eastman Wind Ensemble
A solid Sousa album that comes up a bit short.......2003-01-26
In the 60s, Fennell and the Eastman Wind ensemble recorded a good amount of marches by Sousa, many released on this album, and the rest (as far as I know) on the album Hands Across the Sea. As many of Sousa's best marches are on that later album, this one falls a bit short of greatness -- but not my much.
Sousa knew his marches, writting something like 200 of them, and almost every one of these is a great example of how to write a good march. Indeed, The Liberty Bell and Manhatten Beach are two of my alltime favorite marches. However, being prolific often means that there will be misses, and many here, while written well, just aren't all that memorable. I'd be hard pressed to be able to identify such pieces as The Gallant Seventh, New Mexico, or the Black Horse Troop unless I had just listened to them.
Still, one has to admire the creative way Sousa sometimes put his music together. The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company uses the song 'Aude Lang Syne' for its trio, and it fits so well that it's hard to believe he didn't write it himself. The Liberty Bell uses tubular bells in *just* the right spots that it makes an impact every time one listens. And Sabre And Spurs uses wook blocks to simulate horses, which also works great.
So overall, this is a solid album that has its ups and downs. The sound quality is great, haveing a certain amount of 'bite' that's almost impossible with digital recordings, the playing impecable, and there's plenty of variety.
The Mastery of Fennell.......2002-01-28
I've owned this CD for several years, and bought a copy recently as a Christmas gift. Frederick Fennell is a modern master of band and marches, and I own several of his recordings. What makes this CD a standout for me is the Mercury Living Presence recording and remastering method. I own over two dozen of this series because Living Presence does indeed represent a different method of producing music for the recorded media. It DOES sound more lifelike to me than conventional multimike recordings. To anyone considering purchase of this CD I'd recommend also ordering 'Screamers', the Living Presence CD of circus marches. To me this is feel-good music at its best, and terrific for listing in the car! Additionally, the Living Presence series stands out for its excellent liner notes with explanations of the Living Presence method. This CD is a keeper. Incidentally, the recipient of this CD has since gone out and bought several other Living Presence CD's after hearing this!s
MASTERFUL RENDITIONS IN GLORIOUS RECORDED SOUND.......2001-11-16
An utterly masterful set, containing many of Sousa's unjustly neglected works. (An integral recording of his complete marches is overdue by a good half-century.*) Fennell conducts with incredible verve, and the Eastman Wind Ensemble responds in kind, with immaculately tight and polished performances. The recording is demonstration-class. Sousa has never sounded better, and probably never will.
*EDIT: Actually, a nearly-complete recording of the marches has been available, as of the time of this review, for at least a good quarter-century--first on LP, now on CD: that being, a series of analog recordings by The Detroit Concert Band, led by Leonard B. Smith. Currently available from Walking Frog Records (on five CDs), the DCB/Smith collection unfortunately suffers from some serious problems--not the least of which is the highly variable and substandard quality of the recorded sound.
A Classic well preserved.......2001-09-28
This one's a Classic and the sound is remarkable considering
when it was recorded. Viva Mercury Records!
I do wish more of the familiar Sousa stuff was included.

Skillet's third release, Invincible, has the sort of momentum that pulls the listener's thoughts and emotions into it. Both the lyrics and music have a hard-hitting quality that plays off the other to create a no-nonsense production. Keeping in step with the electronic age, there is a heavy techno influence; buzzes and whirls often create what sounds like a musical Morse code. But, like a sledgehammer, the undulating drum loops, rolling bass lines, and chunky guitar patches drive this music forward. In addition to the intensity of the music, the lyrics pull no punches about the truths that they carry. Unfettered by compromise, straightforward messages announce the power and wonder of God's nature. As well, a believing response is presented in its most radical form. At times, the vocal inflections display an aggressive passion for Christ. Other songs revisit the pop euphoria of new-wave music. During the ballads, a more worshipful flavor emerges as lead singer John L. Cooper shares an intimate knowledge of God's love. It is not an easy task for music with this much energy to accurately convey the heart of the message it carries, but that is what Skillet has set out to do, and they show no sign of slowing down. --Israel Button

awsome.......2007-01-29
this is an awsome cd and an amazing hard rock christian cd. among all of Skillets releases it is # 3. if you like hard rock check it out, you wount be disappointed.
its good.......2005-01-26
I love skillet...the only reason why i have this Cd is because "best kept secret" is on it...and thats my favorite song. I would describe this Cd as techno-ish...its not really rock..and its not really disco or anything....definatly in the techno side. Its like they made ther music from the computer..and knowing skillet, thats probly what they did. But its awesome, i have to say that cuz im a panhead(skillet fans)
Crrrrrrrap.......2004-12-20
I absolutly love skillet but this cd is REALLY bad... if you like this one, than you'll love the other ones i promise. Try "Alian Youth" and "Collide" by Skillet - they are MUCH better
Amazing!.......2004-11-21
Skillet has its own unique style, And I prefer them over any Christian album. This album portrays God's messages in ways others cannot even possibly imagine. I love it!!! Deffantely a must get!
Rubbish? NO Masterpiece? YES.......2004-08-28
This is probably the best Christian CD I have ever heard, and one of the best CD's I've ever heard period; secular or nonsecular. I consider this album perfect, a masterpiece. If you wanna rag on this album because its Christian fine, but your ragging on it for the wrong reason. Once one has heard this album, there is no denying the level of talented musicianship involved.
Skillet effortlessly blend hard rock with electronic flourishes via keyboards, synth, and loops. If that wasn't enough, Skillet just as easily pulls off beautiful ballads, thanks to singer John Cooper's powerful vocals. I've never gotten sick of this album, and despite having a large music collection this CD always finds its way into my CD player regularly. I've played this album for people who weren't Christians, and they've all liked it.
If you've never heard of Skillet, please do yourself a huge favor and pick this album up. If you have heard of Skillet and have been lazy and slothful, now is the time to make things right and do what you should have done a long time ago, pick this up! You deserve it.

Sousa On Parade.......2007-05-31
This standard collection of Sousa's marches is nicely played throughout by the US Marine Band. All the well known marches by Sousa are here. Little is new here in that regard. The CD has in its title Dances and other Music. Only "Le Reine De Le Mer" is in this category and the piece is more an overture than a dance. The "Gallent 7th March" is not normally in the top 10 constantly played Sousa marches, but it is worthy of note. Sousa composed it for the fashionable 7th Regiment New York National Guard. This unit had a good band which was well known in Sousa's day and often combined performances with the Sousa band in New York City.
Sousa was director of music for the US Marine band for 10 years, 1882-92. He left to form his own band because he knew he could make a lot more money on his own. Suffice to say that Sousa greatly transformed this band from a 2nd rate ensemble to one of the best in the USA. The US Marine Band is also the oldest musical organization in the country, dating back to 1802 when Washington DC was still a wooded Virginia back water built over sickly swamps. Today this band probably gives one of the best versions of Sousa's music. Still, the listener should consider other collections by the Royal Artillery Band available on Amazon which provides a much fuller range of Sousa's music with authentic programing.
