Jessie Smelter is a gifted folk singer and songwriter who put together a very nice selection of original songs. And, anyone who knows Jessie, knows that they are straight from his warm heart.

There are songs for the whole family on this CD. "Lullaby", and "A Kitten, a Bunny and a Bear" are great songs for the children. "For My Father", and "Mama's Got Dreams" for parents and grandparents. And for everyone, there are songs like the beautiful instrumental, "Solitude" and the title cut, "Captured Muse".

No folk CD would be complete without social commentaries, such as "Running Blindfolded", and the haunting "Johnny Goes Marching" (my favorite) to tug on your heart.

And, so so many love songs to lift up your day! "Morning Sunrises" and the wedding song, "In His Love" should not be missed!

Many of the songs feature the top-notch production along with tasteful keyboard and vocal work of James Walsh, famous for his work with Gypsy. Some of the other cuts are done in Jessie's patented coffeehouse style. Additional musical talent includes the rock solid drumming of Danny Roussin, the tasteful electric and slide guitar of Kenny Wilson, the haunting and beautiful harmonica of Bill Gausman, Malina Rauschenfels' impeccable cello, and Bob Jones' most excellent 5-string bass.

Jessie shows his respect for his listeners' hard earned dollar by completely filling his CD with 73 minutes and 54 seconds (out of a possible 74 minutes!) of 18 beautiful songs. A wonderful musical value!

This CD is a musical experience that will most certainly brighten your day!
