Refreshing!.......2000-09-19
Tremendous album! A superb mix of traditional celtic folk songs and driving rock. "Blackwaterside," "Are Ya Sleeping Maggie," and "Newerytown" provide a very energetic pieces to the album with an excellent mix of celtic styling and electric instruments. Some of the more traditional songs ("Three Drunken Maidens", "Old Maid In The Garret") are reminiscent of music found in a nice pub, and will keep the traditionalists pleased, along with drawing newcomers into the more traditional side of celtic music. "Land Of The Leal" and "Ae Fond Kiss" provide hauntingly sweet melodies drawing the listener into every word of the music's beautiful story. "She Moved Through The Fair" rings with classic rock styling, making me imagine myself in a dark, smoky room listening to the intertwining of a beautiful voice with a chill-raising slide guitar. This CD will make ANY celtic music fan more than happy with a great range of music, not to mention people who just like any good music. I was more than impressed with this up and coming local artist, and walked away with a smile after giving this album a good listen. Defiantly worth buying, and you will get a lot of use out of this CD!
