Album Description

Mage Sun is an eclectic journey through worlds both light and dark. From spiritual soundscapes to driving rhythms and all that is in between, the listener is propelled into ethereal realms where the melody provides a false safty net. Influenced by the electronic pioneers of the 70's, the synthesizer structures that Mage Sun creates is a diverse abstract interpretation of how various cultures throughout history have idealized the sun in all it's mythological and spiritual forms.

Nuada has a wonderful way with the sculpting of multiple ostinatos and drones building an atmosphere unlike any other.
Samples dart in and out of the mix making for pleasant surprises. Whilst melodically flitting about within these sonic baths he draws the listener in...giving them an otherworldly tour without leaving the farm! Bravo Nuada! Lovingly relaxing and spiritually lifting. Though outwardly pagan in content I find Nuada's work quite close to the heart of God....there is so much love in this music.

I have been a fan of new age music for a long time. Unfortunately much of it has begun to sound too alike these days. Welcome Nuada. So different I hesitate to even call it new age. Wonderfully pagan. I will definately be keeping my eyes open for future CDs.

Other songs, such as those found on his 1995 debut CD with collaborator Enrique Vilaseco and band Three Years Ghost, bring his classical-mindedness in song writing to melodious, multilayered rock songs. And Negovan credits some unlikely masters with influencing his musical course in life. "I wanted to be a Shelley or a Keats, but the role the Victorian or Romantic poet had in past societies doesnt exist now," says Negovan. "Our closest modern equivalents are people like David Bowie and Mick Jagger." Other musical influences range from T. Rex and The Church to Frank Sinatra and Mel Tormé. Count in the music of Nina Simone and "anything with a hint of mysticism," he says. Disparate literary works have made their mark, as well, including turn-of-the-century occult literature; horror, crime and superhero comics from the 50s; and the writings of Oscar Wilde, W.B. Yeats and Lord Byron. Negovans debut release, Sidhe (1995), fused the artists penchant for linear orchestration with his drive to create smart, sexy and thoughtful rock songs. The result is a collection that laments lost love with a resignation that makes you feel as though youve stepped into a rock-and-roll-style Merchant and Ivory film. In the years since this release Negovan has performed at The Bop Shop and other Chicago venues, on his own and with Three Years Ghost. Hes spent the last two years, in particular, refocusing what he and the band are doing: developing a richness in music that broadens the definition of rock. "Were trying to approach our songs as soundtrack pieces instead of three-minute pop songs," Negovan says. "I like music thats cyclical but not repetitive, music thats epic in the way it builds." And that soundtrack-style approach is paying off in other ways. Negovans been called on to score the soundtrack for Walter Did It, an upcoming David Lynch-style indie film by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, writers for Xena: Warrior Princess.

Music that reaches your soul........2001-05-04

I first had the pleasure of hearing Sidhe at a home concert last year. All I could say was WOW! They are fantastic. KT's voice sent shivers up my spine and Michael's guitar playing was phenomenal. I bought both of their CD's on the spot and an extra for a friend. If you like Sarah McLachlan, Enya or Loreena McKennitt to name of few, you will love this CD.
