About the Artist
Mary Schmary - articulate, eclectic, brilliant, soulful, and loopy as heck, the Schmaries have been a powerful force of Good for over 9 years. They have spread a capella joy at such Bay Area venues as the Sweetwater in Mill Valley, the Hotel Utah in SF, the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, the Palms in Davis, the Harmony Sweepstakes at the Palace of Fine Arts, the SF Free Folk Festival, the High Sierra Music Festival, live on KPFA, Morgan's Cafe in Monterey, and the Red Vic in Santa Rosa.
They've opened for such excellent performers as Christine Lavin, Cheryl Wheeler, Patty Larkin, John Gorka, Talk of the Town, Boyz Nite Out, Red Meat and the House Jacks.
They own all their own clothes, and will give you painful attitude if you ask nicely.
Mary Schmary tied for 2nd at the Bay Area Regional Harmony Sweepstakes (1998) and their song "Babar the Elephant" won Best Original Song. Their song "I Put You There" also won Best Original Song at the 1995 Bay Area Regionals.
Product Description
A bizarre and wonderful new album from Mary Schmary, containing classic Schmary hits, improvisational creations, live tracks and interludes/introductions from their live shows.
This is a cappella with a strange bent. Humorous, political and sometimes beyond loopy. A must have for anyone with eardrums.
