Customer Reviews:
Great Group.......2002-04-27
While I don't actually have this CD, the group is great. I just got back from borders in Nashua, nh where they had a live performance and, although I never heard of her before, I left extremely impressed. The whole group even signed the upcoming shows card they passed out (although that may have been because no one was really asking for autographs, except for one guy who said he would "let" them sign his cd's, and kept saying how he bought 2 of them, it got very annoying). Carla was probably the nicest of the group. If their shows are any indication this CD should be great. Go see them live if you get the chance.
An Old Mudhens fan.......2001-11-04
I first heard Carla sing when she was part of The Mudhens. I was saddened to hear she had left the band, and apprehensive about her new solo career. My fears were unfounded, as her cd Pulling Down Sky was excellent. Her soulful voice reaches new levels as she sings meaningful lyrics. I would highly recommend this cd to anyone looking for good music from a great singer.
A Completely Different Dimension.......2000-11-25
Pulling Down Sky is just one of those albums you can listen to over and over and never get tired of it. Carla is able to take her listeners to a completely different dimension while listening o her music. The type of artist that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling after listening. She is a highly talented artist and this piece of work reflects that. I would recommend this CD to anyone in search of good music.
remarkably talented artist.......2000-05-23
Boy, carla ryder is someone to watch. She is extremely talented, and I speak not only of her bravura, but her snappy wit as well! Pick up the album and start remembering this name, she'll soon be accepting a Grammy (and eMailing me!).
This is one to watch, she'll be a star someday.......2000-05-04
Wow. What a breath of fresh air this cd is. No pretenses. She reminds me a little of Natalie Merchant, but to pigeonhole her would be a mistake. She writes interesting words that tell great stories, sings them in a clear voice that cuts through fog like a halogen beacon, and records them with a fine selection of instruments, including hammond organ, dobro, accordian, and wurlitzer piano, along with the usual assortment of rock and folk instruments. Well-produced, and well worth your time. Watch this one, she's got a bright future in music. Hopefully this is the first of many.
