About the Artist
Tricia Gates Brown writes. Books, articles, poetry, songs. A scholar and poet, Tricia articulates ideas and reflections with a wordsmith's passion for language. Growing up in a small northern California town, Tricia always loved music, nature, words. She has now lived in the Pacific Northwest for seventeen years. After the birth of her daughter, Tricia funneled intellectual energies into theological studies, ending with a PhD from University of St. Andrews (Scotland) in 2000. For the past four years, Tricia has been active in peacemaking as a reserve corps member of CPT, an organization doing violence-reduction work worldwide. Her writing projects include poetry (see www.poetry-triciagatesbrown.com), Free People: A Christian Response to Global Economics, Spirit in the Writings of John, and Getting in the Way: Stories from Christian Peacemaker Teams (Editor) (all available on Amazon). Her most recent project is a young adult novel. Residing in a tiny house overlooking the Pacific Ocean (from a spot on the northern Oregon Coast), she finds herself surrounded by her most enduring inspirations -- God, the wild, the kaleidoscopic sky, friendship far and near.

Product Description
Had Thoreau been female and come of age in the Reagan years, he may have written like this. Tricia Gates Brown's songs are full of reflection and razor-sharp social critique, yet emanate vulnerability, sensitivity, and grace. This music is deeply personal and honest, like a fireside talk with an old friend. On Long Thin Road there is not a single Top-40 hit in sight. It holds the memories and dreams of a poet put to song -- as hopeful as it is sad.
