About the Artist
Brooke Brown Saracino recently released her debut album, Treading Water, which she produced herself. This album is truly indicative of her ability to make the listener feel. She has been compared to Norah Jones, Beth Orton, Ani Difranco, and Suzanne Vega though her eclectic mix of folk, jazz and bluegrass combined with her truly unique voice separate Brooke from the rest.

Her songs are equally powerful on stage. Sean Vernon, Singer/Songwriter says, "She writes with a fluidity and grace that is all the more remarkable because it seems to come so naturally to her. I can't imagine there's a sing/songwriter here who can touch her in the area of stage presence and the ability to write songs that make the audience feel what she felt when writing them."

Brooke began playing instruments and singing at age six. She is a self taught musician and began writing her own songs with guitar and voice at age 13. She attended a performing arts charter high school in western Massachusetts where she studied guitar, voice and composition. It was there that she first discovered her love for performance. For the past seven year she has been performing her songs throughout New England and in Chicago. She recently graduated from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor Maine with a degree in Human Ecology and a concentration in Music.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars awful.......2005-08-26

Ms Goldberg has been trying to sound like Joni Mitchell for years and this album is no exception; it's a poor imitation to say this least. She is frequently off tune and seems more interested in calling attention to her gimmicks instead of the music. The music lacks any real feeling. When I saw her live it was the same thing. Maybe I'll like this stuff better if I get old enough to need a hearing aid

4 out of 5 stars Go See Karen Live Too!.......2000-10-26

I saw Karen Goldberg live Sunday, October 22, 2000 when she opened for the British singer, Julia Fordham at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. She has a very melodic strong, and fluid voice. She sang the songs "I Went To College," "Treading Water," "Germany," and "Sneakin'" in her set. I would recommend this album because she is such a great performer LIVE!!!
