About the Artist
Scout was born in Tampa, Florida and is the oldest of identical twins. She has lived for many years in the beautiful country side of Oklahoma. As a Castaway on Survivor Vanuatu, Olympic Torch Bearer and a successful entrepreneur she inspires each person to "catch the fire of their spirit". In all settings she affirms her vision of peace on our planet. Her ancestry is a blend of English, German, French and Seminole - an American woman for sure. Known as the "World's Best Friend" and a "cheerleader for the human spirit" her teachings value and celebrate the gifts of diversity. She has dedicated her life to being a vessel for Spirit.

Scout is the founder and President of Vision Us, Inc., a Management Development Center to explore Human Excellence. As founder of the Magical Child Foundation, Inc., an educational non-profit, she promotes peace through play. In addition she is an internationally known keynote speaker, trainer, author, and singer-songwriter. She delights in being alive and by example stimulates others to know and live their passion.

Scout lives in Oklahoma with her partner Annie and a large animal family on their "Rise n' Shine Ranch". Their work is based at "The Ranch", their resort and training facility. As an artist and builder she has constructed homes, and a retreat site that is called a "mecca for life-altering play". Her love of nature is reflected in the beauty of all the land and structures.

Dr. Lee's academic and professional accomplishments are extensive. Briefly stated Dr. Lee has degrees in Theology, Counseling, and Higher Education. Professionally her experience includes leadership positions in the areas of therapeutic recreation, graduate curriculum development, extensive research projects, and as the Chief Executive Officer of Vision Us, Inc. As a professor for many years in leading Universities, Dr. Lee created and set the standards for Leisure Counseling and Accessibility for the Handicapped. She has written and received funding for large federal and private grants. Author of eleven books and hundred of articles, her writings range from highly technical books published by Prentice-Hall and Simon & Schuster to a book of spiritual teachings titled The Circle Is Sacred, published by Council Oak Books.

As an entertainer/singer-songwriter she brings her message through music that is inspirational and soul moving. Traveling throughout the world as a highly acclaimed key-note speaker and corporate training consultant, Scout utilizes her intuitive knowledge to tap and elicit audiences' finest excellence. In all settings she is known as a trailblazer, forerunner, pathfinder and innovator as she dares to step through perceived horizons with dynamism and vigor. She has a keen ability to cut to the essence of a task or situation and present a solution, while others are still contemplating and focusing on the problem. Scout consistently helps others make dreams come true.

Steve Perry...FTLOSM.......2007-07-24

What a great album...thank you, Steve, for the beautiful and soulful work on this solo. No matter who plays for this man, his voice shines bright above the music, and this is a must-have for Perry fans and novices alike.

it's a funny thing..........2007-03-12

I was never really a Journey fan. Maybe I was already too old by then. I knew even then, though, that they were much better -with- Steve Perry than they had been before him. But they were corny to me, and their sound, (which, in their case, may have been original), was so overdone in the 80s that I simply had my full almost immediately. As far as Perry himself, well, (besides holding Journey against him), I felt as though Sam Cook and Rod Stewert were more my style within that vocal approach. HOLD ON. I guess I'm a slow learner, maybe I just didn't want to follow a teeny-bopper trend, but Perry is sounding whole lot better to me. Rod's been sucking lately, and I've accepted that Sam is never coming back, and , gosh, it turns out the Steve is one of the greatest singers ever! Definitely the classic-rock all-time hero. So in tune, amazing range , great tone, much emotion, perfect phrasing., and technique that never overrides the song's intention. I'm gonna admit that I was 100% wrong on this one. This would be one of the few rock shows I would buy a ticket for.

I did not like this album when it first came out in '94..........2007-03-10

Repeat. I did not like "Strange Medicine" when it came out in '94.

However, I was in for a big shock with this reissue. I initially bought this just for the picture booklet, which contains many good pics of Perry from the FTLOSM promo shoots; it's a worthy, wonderful companion to the CD. But the shock? Perry remastered the album. As in, "remixed it". As in, CHANGED IT.

Holy crap, I like it.

I'm listening to it now. The mix sounds much better than the original (listen to the intro to "You Better Wait", and you'll see immediately what I mean). The instruments are more balanced, the sound is clearer & cleaner. I'm digging it all over again, and it wasn't on my top list of favorite albums to start. Just for the remastering, this album is well worth the cost for Journey & Perry fans.

On the extra tracks, I disagree with the previous reviewer on one point. The extra tracks are a mixed bag; the live "Missing You" was initially aired for the Steve Perry Fan Club fans over the fan club's hotline; it's a serviceable performance, but not really Perry's best. "If You Need Me, Call Me" and "One More Time" were initially released as extra tracks to the singles from the original release of FTLOSM -- if you haven't heard them before, they are wonderful tracks that showcase Perry in two completely different vocal moods and make the most of his vocal gymnastic stylistics.

"Can't Stop", though, is junk. On the surface, the song is Perry trying to sing raunchy sex to a lover ("trying" is a very apt word, here). However, it's not blues scatting -- if that's what Perry was trying for, he fails miserably. The vocals suck -- what vocals there are. No grown man I know would use the word "coochie-coo" seriously in any sexual situation -- at least, use it and not get laughed out of the bedroom. The lyrics would fit into any fanfic pr0n in any fandom, and show about the same level of writing. The song is a sop to what Perry thinks his female fans want -- unfortunately, it sounds as if he took the worst of fanfic pr0n as his cue. It's cutesy euphemistic crap that ignores honest, raw sexuality and substitutes crappy, uninspired vocals for true emotional edge.

When we reach a point where Steve Perry is writing his own pr0n, armageddon can't be far behind.

Wrapping up the past, or a preview of the future?.......2006-11-02

Steve Perry has been behind the Reissues this past year with the Journey CDs and his solo material. Most included bonus tracks, and For The Love Of Strange Medicine is no different. The CD itself sounds incredible. The static that was in the background mildly on the original 1994 release is gone, and the original tracks have been remixed with today's technology. This remixing gives them an absolutely brilliant sound. There are even a few added parts to a couple numbers that sound great as well. Since this CD has never been previously remastered, it gets a new face lift with this release and shines. It truly is a testament, though, to the perfectionism of Steve Perry. He knows the sound he's looking for and finds the way to get it.

The most obvious thing about this release, though, is the bonus tracks; two of which have never before been released. "If You Need Me (Call Me) and "One More Time" were released with the singles that came out with the original Strange Medicine release, along with several other songs that reappeared with the Greatest Hits release. The first unreleased track is "Can't Stop." It is an interesting track, to say the least, and gives you a look at a side of Perry that hasn't been heard often. It's a bluesy track with some scat from The Voice, and some lyrics that are unusual for Perry in that they don't deal with the ordinary subject matter of his songs. His traditional vocal patterns aren't on this track either, making it even more unique. It's a song you almost have to develop a liking for. The second unreleased track is "Friends of Mine," which any Perry fan will like. It's a fun song that is classic Perry at his best, including the long, soaring high notes and the vocal patterns that made the man famous. This track sounds as if it belongs on this CD, and is one of my personal new favorites. These two songs, as the CD's booklet will tell you, were originally recorded for Perry's yet-to-be-released album "Against the Wall" from a 1988 recording session. The final track is a live recording of "Missing You" from his tour of Strange Medicine that has been floating around on download forums and programs for years. It's a rare glimpse of his last outing as a performer.

Finally, one of the last reasons to get this album, even if you already have it, is the accompanying booklet. Not only does it contain the usual (acknowledgments, song list with musicians and writers) but also many photos, some unreleased, from the photo shoot for the album and the tour. It also contains all the tour dates, where and when they were performed. Lastly, to open up the booklet, a note from Steve Perry himself re-introducing the album to you.

I would highly recommend this album reissue. I know there are many who don't like the reissues of the Journey albums, and that I can understand, but this album has never been re-released and sounds great. The bonus tracks and booklet alone should be enough to get the die-hard fans to buy this, but I would also recommend it to anyone who likes Steve Perry in general, the casual fan, or lovers of great music. This is one singer that has had a spectacular career in music, has been on the top, and is now living the life he has earned. The one thing that puzzles me about this release, though, is the timing. Lately, Perry has been reissuing a lot of things from his past. The Journey Music Video DVD, the Houston Concert Collector's Set, and now the reissuing of his entire recorded catalog. He's also made a couple appearances on other musicians' CDs (Jeff Golub and David Pack). What confuses me is the title question: Is Steve Perry wrapping up his career? Tying up the loose ends and saying good-bye to his fans? Or is he staying behind the scenes, waiting...slowly working his way into the public eye again in preparation for one more outing? Only time will tell. If you are a fan of this man, though, I would recommend picking this one up if you are able to. You won't be disappointed.

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!

Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03

This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?

Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11

Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.

Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).

Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".

It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.

But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.

Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22

It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!

Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31

Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.

However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.

However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.

Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

The brainchild of guitarist Brad Laner, Los Angeles trio Medicine play a melodic, rhythmic style of noise-rock that has been tagged 'dream-pop.' Laner began performing in his early teens in such local bands as Vox Pop and Nervous Gender after developing a taste for such avant-garde rock performers as Captain Beefheart, Throbbing Gristle, Yoko Ono, and the Residents. What happened to the old Medicine?.......2004-10-11

I honestly wanted to like this album, I really did. Perhaps with a few more listens I'll be able to approach it with an open mind and appreciate it like the positive reviewers -- but at the present moment, I have to say after several tries, it's just as annoying as Bob Mould's recent ventures into techno. Sorry, but it doesn't do it for me. Perhaps it's the fact that when I think of Medicine, I prefer the psychedelic-noise masterpieces that were "Shot Forth Self Living," "The Buried Life" and "Her Highness", and it's those albums I'd recommend to my friends for the classic and beloved "Medicine" sound.

Beautifully Executed harmonies noise, and sound. I don't know if it's just a new sound for Medicine or maybe a new growth of creativity, ether way I think its amazing continuation of the sound development. I do like the older sound but if an artist can't grow with there work then there just another top 10 pop band with no music ability. This is not only new but it still has that Medicine aftertaste. This Album ROCKS !!

The 90s are over and rightly so...........2004-03-19

Within a space of weeks I got familiar with the Medicine discography. Surely, with 93's Buried Life CD a great shoegazer/noise album was accomplished. What remains to this day are -the weirdness, -sensuality, -occasional pop sensibility. Shannon Lee's vocals are frighteningly sexy and I think that her voice fits in better with this formula than Beth Thompson's, who was on those great feedback driven tunes of yesteryear. Let's face it: it's almost 20 years that Psychocandy from the Jesus & Mary Chain heralded the fusion of 60s melodies with wonderful walls of noise. Now Brad Laner surprises us with a fusion of 60s melodies with current day electronica with makes for a pleasant psychedelic audiotrip. It doesn't seem like The Buried Life, but I can understand that it's made by the same person. Medicine is Brad Laner. Check this out, full stop.

this is not a techno record and it most certainly couldn't have been created with Acid 1.0 (though it would be hilarious to hear someone attempt it).
please someone, tell me the late 80's album this sounds like and I will buy it for all of my friends.

the searing guitars and beautiful harmonies are present on every tune. try cleaning the sh*t out of your ears before displaying your stupidity in this space in future.

as for the waste of your cold hard cash, prejudiced false expectations are expensive. sucka !

Bad Medicine..........2004-01-02

Medicine was once renowned for beautuful vocal harmonies blended with melodies of brutal feedback, crunchy pop-hooks amidst shimmering walls of molten sound. Medicine was screeching yet sensuous, horrible yet ethereal--"Shot Forth Self Living" and "The Buried Life" were timeless masterpieces of pop noise, some of the most creative contructions of feedback ever. This long-anticipated effort has none of these qualities. With the exception of a single track, the seventh ("Astral Gravy"), this CD sounds like a late '80's Casio keyboard/drum machine recorded with Acid Music 1.0. It's not that Laner has gone techno; I'm a huge techno fan. It's that this is not even very good techno. Nor is it the Medicine we all knew and loved, once upon a time. But this is what I get for not previewing this first BEFORE laying out my cold hard cash.

Cherokee Rose is a very talented artist. After purchasing this CD, I have become a big fan of her music! This CD has become one of my favorites to listen and relax to. I hope she releases another CD with native american influences. Her new age release under the name Rose Moore entitled "Spirit of Silence" is good but I am more fond of her sound on this album. The basic composition of her voice with native drums and guitar is what makes this CD great! My favorite songs are "Coming Up River" and "Forevermore" but I enjoy all of the songs on the album.
