i think this album is great. i was reading alot of the other reviews and just had to write in response to some of them. i know we all hear music differently. some people seem to listen and hear mainly lyrics. i always hear the melody and the mix of the instuments. the lyrics for me are a bonus. with many of mercyme songs a huge bonus. now, that being said, not every song can be a hit. some of the other reviewers seem to think that every song should be a number one hit. that would be called selling out. let these bands write and perform from their hearts. there is a song on this cd entitled HERE WITH ME. the music in that song is as good as it gets. the chord structure is awesome. and when you add the extremely well thought out and meaningful lyrics to the music, you have a masterpiece, and that's what that song is to me. i couldn't believe that not one person mentioned this song in any of the reviews until the very last review which actually was the first. mike mcallister had mentioned that HERE WITH ME was his favorite song on the cd. i guess mike and i have something in common. thanks mike, maybe some day we can talk. as far as mercyme goes, i would highly recommend any and everything this band puts out. i feel bad for the people who will never experience bands like this. we are extremely lucky to experience MERCYME. also, the live dvd is a must have.

Undone is Unreal.......2006-01-27

I came to Undone after endlessly listening to their other cds in progression, all of which I would rate five stars. In spite of the fact that some of the best worship songs ever written can be found on some of their other cds, I think this is their absolute best as an overall album, with some equally powerful individual songs. The musicianship alone will thrill you, but the power in the lyrics brings you right into the worship experience. Bart Millard's awesome voice seems to get better and better. Each one of their cds is a different listening experience, and from these ears, growing in impact. I also saw them in concert this past summer. Do not miss them if you get the chance! As a contemporary worship and gospel guitarist, I am awed and humbled by the seamless creativity of the two guitarists on this cd. If I listed favorites, I'd end up listing all of them. Ok, my favorites at the moment are, "Here with Me," "Homesick," "Caught up in the Middle," and "Undone." Also, for the best "Christmas Album" ever, check out Mercy Me's "The Christmas Sessions."

How cool is this?.......2006-01-15

I have probably listened to my Undone CD a hundred times. I love it. These guys are great. And how cool is this? I am reading an awesome book about putting Christ in charge of your life, and the author mentions Mercy Me. He seems to love them too. I think that's great that he gave them a plug in his book. The book by the way, is called Passenger's Side - Putting Jesus Christ in Charge of your Life. Author is John Forosisky. It's the most interesting/exciting Christian book I've read to date.

Well, if you are wondering if you'll like Undone, you will. Get it.

Great release, top 10 of 2007! .......2007-07-27

I don't know how it took me so long to discover this gem from earlier this year. I love the 2 bands Jackson Waters are compared to, Coldplay and Maroon 5 and those are fair comparisons. The standout songs "Center of Attention" and "Come Undone" both reflect that alt-rock style. However, unlike some bands that have a couple of good songs and then filler songs, you need to hear the entire album. Pick it up and you won't regret it. It's definitely a top 10 of 2007 release in my opinion.

Very Good Sound, Positive Lyrics.......2007-04-07

'Come Undone' is a very enjoyable pop/rock album.

I had never heard of Jackson Waters until very recently. I heard the song, 'Give Me Amazing Grace' and decided that I wanted to hear some more. It quickly became clear that this is a very talented band that put together a great debut CD.

Not only is their music positive, it is also clearly Christian. The lyrics explore various topics such as longing for heaven, God's infinite patience with us, and the wonder of new life in Christ. These inspiring words are combined with excellent vocals and some very energetic guitar playing.

This CD is a real treat. If you haven't heard this group before, I recommend giving them a try.

An Amazing First CD.......2007-03-06

This band has really progressed in the past few years. The musical and lyrical quality is outstanding. "Give Me Amazing Grace" is already climbing to the top of the charts. I definitely recommend this CD!

Tony Duggins, el lider de The Tossers, abre todos los conciertos de la banda en solitario, a capella o con su mandolina, como la calma que precede a la tormenta. Duggins has outdone himself. I am an avid fan of The Tossers, along with of course, Dropkick Murphy's, The Pogues, Flogging Molly etc.... This album is rough and uncut and as such is perfect.

Highly underrated and very overshadowed... .......2007-03-15

This album is a must hear for any true extreme metalheads... if your into the likes of Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, etc, you may wish to keep shopping at Hot Topic, but for Death/Black Metal fans that dig top musicianship and great songwriting and arrangements, you gotta hear this! I'm no satanist, but I didn't make the foolish mistake of passing these brits up just based on their religious preference, I'm a musician, who also happens to be a Metalhead... this album, played loudly on a dark night, preferably while driving through mountains or anywhere not in the city, will translate into a sublime experience. Also highly suggested, the new Cannibal Corpse and Deicide albums are F#$@ing awesome!!! \m/.

Beautifully evil.........2007-03-02

Akercocke have released one of the most innovative metal albums of the decade, and this is it. A furious mixture of Prog/Black/Death/metal that flows seamlessy together in a grandoise and frightening formula is what puts this album high above the rest of the stale metal scene.

There are so many atmospheres and such a grand scale of dynamics that you can listen to this over and over and never grow bored. The vocals cross over from death growls, to behind-the-mix black metal shrieks, to gothic singing perfectly in sync with the rest of the band. There are very melodic passages, blinding death/black metal madness and even at times a tinge of electronica, but none of the elements ever overpower each other. This album lacks almost absolutely nothing. The only complaint (and it is a very minor one) is that the clean vocals are slightly out of tune. But hey, this is metal! Who cares right?

Unique, interesting & excellent all around.......2006-10-08

Although Akercocke are commonly referred to as "progressive blackened death metal," there's no doubt that they're now officially in a league and genre all their own. And the band might not steer entirely clear of the musical blueprint Opeth first created in 1995, but there are several crucial differences. For one, Akercocke incorporate a much greater black metal influence into their music. Next, singer Jason Mendonca has an even wider and more impressive vocal range than that of Mikael Akerfeldt. He's able to sing cleanly, croon, growl, summon super low, indecipherable bellows that are reminiscent of bands like Dying Fetus, and (like almost any black metal singer), he can also pierce your ear drums with high, banshee-like shrieks. And it makes Jason's performance even more impressive when one hears that he's capable of using all of those vocal styles in just one song! Oh, and Akercocke are from England, not Sweden.

"Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" is clearly rooted in death metal, but it's never limited to just one type of music. It brilliantly blends death, thrash, and black metal with prog rock (ala Cynic), chilling overtones, overtly Satanic poetry, gothic keyboards, other delicate, ethereal ambience, and trippy sound effects (i.e. maniacal laughter and creepy, snarling animal noises). Indeed, this is a very richly textured and almost mind-blowing record which shows off so many great dynamics, diversities, and details that it makes Ihsahn's debut ("The Adversary") sound like a Mayhem release (well not quite, but you get the point). But that's not to mislead you -- the songs aren't nearly as difficult to digest as you might think. From front to back, this album is impeccably smooth, flowing, diverse, exciting, instantly identifiable, satisfying, complex, intriguing, memorable, and all around genius.

"Verdelet" is an excellent album opener that's highlighted by catchy thrash riffs, a blistering guitar lead, and forceful double bass heft. Then it's time for the positively stellar second song, "Seduced." This is a mostly instrumental track and is bolstered by speedy, churning riffs and rapid, airtight death metal blasts. After that comes another song, "Shelter From The Sand," which is very difficult not to love. It flies out of the starting gate with strong, buzzsaw guitar flurries and vitriolic vocals before the band pulls hard on the song's reigns and include a soft, harmonic break with ominous guitar feedback, slow, jangly piano keys, and limpid, British-accented singing.

The extremely unpredictable title track (which begins with prog-ish, beeping bass notes and echoing guitar strums before suddenly launching into a breakneck thrash tempo and fiery guitar licks) is another candidate for the best song on here, and there are three other highlights near the end of the album."Intractable" is almost dreamy; "Seraphs and Silence" tosses a tasty, winding guitar solo into the mix; and, lastly, "Penance" is fueled by raging guitar work which almost careens off the map.

To summarize, "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" is nothing short of excellent. It does lose out to Enslaved's "Ruun" for 2006's finest black metal album to date, but it is still, hands down, the year's most intricate, unique, innovative, meticulous, interesting, and original extreme music release.

Listenable...even though the singers voice is kind of corney..........2006-09-12

I had never heard of Akercocke before this, and I have to say that I am somewhat impressed and intrigued by this band.
First off, they have a nice blend of well produced black metal/acoustic/progressive rock that is right up my alley. The only thing that I cannot stand is the singers voice. It is kind of annoying. Other than that this album is quite good and is a must have for Metal fans alike.

Some greatness....some not really greatness.......2006-07-10

I gave it two mostly because I have an overall negative feel for this album, and three seems basically neutral.

This album does a lot right, and has a lot of very cool parts, all going from heavy to soft, all over the place, as mentioned before. It is mostly well done, and I thoroghly enjoy such moments on the disc. However, there is a problem I have with one of the directions they take.

First, however, a comment on the "incredible range" of the vocals. I don't see it that way, and even if he technically has a better range, than Akerfeldt, it doesn't really matter to me, because Akerfeldt is simply better, even if his range is less. Which, by the way, I don't buy for a second. For one, on this disc, I see basically two styles used, clean vocals and *extremely* weak grindcore grunting. (See next paragraph for more on this) He very rarely uses any death growls or even black metal vocals (on a black metal disc!?). The great range seems to basically consist of singing and grunting, with a couple other styles thrown in for a couple minutes. (to the point that just sitting here, I can think of only a few seconds of it)

Now, for my big problem with the disc. The grindcore. For some reason, they feel the need to have grindcore moments in virtually every song. Featuring a very gutteral, indistinguishable (and unremarkable) grunting, and similarly unremarkable fast drums. (As if its some sort of innovation.) I don't even like grindcore, but this is reminicent of some of the worst I've heard. (In fact, it reminds me so much of a zombie hunting game featuring grindcore on the internet, that as I am listening to it on my cd player, I feel like I should be blasting zombies on this game). I have to ask--why not use death or black vocals, insead of grindcore grunts? (they're not really even vocals) I can stand any death/black growls, which is something I think only a fraction of metal heads can say. I like black metal. But I cannot listen to grindcore grunting. I simply can't--not to metion doing that doesn't really take much range and doesn't make you great.

So, overall--could have been utterly great, but too often divulges into grindcore-esque moments, which overshadow the, admitedly, fantastic parts. Which, by the way, outnumber the grindcore parts, but even that little bit is too much for me. (Maybe not you) Too bad.

EDIT: oh, and I haven't watched the DVD and don't really plan to before I sell this album, so who knows what its like?

Not really, no. It's a very good song and Twisted Transistor is great too. But again . . . this is a single. Single's kinda suck . . . honestly if you "need" this song, the entire CD itself is mere pennies more than this. Plus, this gets two of the songs that saw the most radio airtime, and misses sevearl other great songs on it. In my opinion, Coming Undone isn't the best song on the CD anyway. I do agree with many people that the direction koRn has been taking is sorta . . . disappointing, but that's for another discussion. I wouldn't get this. Just get the CD.

I just got my cd on the 24th of Oct. I ordered it on the 10th, and then when I opened it, I realized that there are only 3 freakin' songs on it- and i paid $13.99 for it!!!!! I thought it was a WHOLE cd!

Coming Undone ROCKS! Buy this single!.......2006-04-23

This disc is great because all of the songs on it are good. Coming Undone was a great choice by KoRn to make into a single. This is just one of the many great songs that can be found on their new release "See you on the other side".

This disc also includes "Eaten up inside" which is an awesome track that is not available on the regular release of SYOTOS. If you have not heard it yet, pick up this disc! You won't regret it. Its worth getting just for "Eaten up inside"!

Pick this up now! Coming Undone is KoRn's second single from "See you on the other Side". The song is great. Even if you already have the album, you need to get this disc for track two. Eaten up Inside is a great song that is not featured on the regular release of the album. Any fan of KoRn will love this song!

2 Good Tracks.......2006-10-16

The first track isn't necessarily a remix of Coming Undone. It's basically the same song with some minor "changes". I think it's cool to have a song that isn't techno'ed out.

Plus Eaten Up Inside is one of my new favorite Korn tracks. I just wish they would have put this on SYOTOS. Heavy and great lyrics...couldn't ask for more!

I heard of Brian Johnson's music through friends from a different church. His and his team's worship style is different a refreshing. The lyrics are honest and poetic, with great music backing it up. Most definitely a great buy that's different from anything/one else in the Christian music industry.

electro live a little.......2006-01-10

I want to start by saying "Mars Meets Venus" on this compilation is better than the original recording by Duran Duran. I like Pop trash by Duran Duran but this cover rocks and has a mean groove to it. The sounds and mix on this song kick butt. I hope Simon and Nick hear track 7 and never hire the mix engineer from Pop Trash again.

For the rest of the album, if you're going to sit there and compare everything to Simon Lebon, you'll probably toss it in the trash. Nothing compares to Simon's voice but some of these covers are well mixed and great to really crank up. I'm not in love with every track but to all the guys and girls who are stuck in the 80s, live a little!

Yeah, this is electro trash---just never undone........2004-11-22

Yeah, if you've read any of my reviews, you'd notice that I'd never say anything bad about Duran Duran---but I have no problem saying bad things about people who poorly imitate Duran Duran. That is exactly what "~Various Artists" have tried to do with Electro Trash Undone.

My first problem with this cover album is that it's a COVER ALBUM. It's everything that Thank You wasn't---pure trash is exactly what I'm talking about. Secondly, I hate the name. "ELECTRO TRASH UNDONE". They're stating that their album is trash. It's electro. And it's undone. Can someone please tell me what that means? Thirdly, it's the whole 'electro' scene. Duran Duran's Rio was never meant to be transformed into an electric romp of pure vocoders. Now, you know I like vocoders, but using vocoders to replace the "Le Bon Whine" is just too far! The "Wild Boys" track does exactly that: a calm and peaceful vocoder guy with an irritating voice singing along to Wild Boys. And when you picture the music video (Simon on a windmill being dunked into water, singing angrily) and add the vocoder voice, it just doesn't look good. I listen to Electro Trash Undone and think, "Why did I waste my money?"
