The Holy Ranger's Free Hand
Editorial Reviews
From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
A modern-day cowboy who spurs his Harley-Davidson down America's byways. Rosenblum, alias the Holy Ranger, used to sing and play guitar in the folk blues 1960s of Lightnin' Hopkins and John Hammond. Active again musically, the Wisconsin poet fills this album (formerly found only at "biker tribal campfires") with electric and acoustic blues that is technically assured and lyrically expressive. Only rarely does his longing for the time when trigger-happy rustlers tangled with Wild West lawmen-he's serious about this-take a turn for the maudlin. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993
