Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Darby O'Gill is a high-energy stage-show band that uses fine music and cutting humor in a singularly Irish style, and is equally at home in an intimate pub setting as on a concert stage. Their music is ancient and modern, from a 14th century Madrigal to Pink Floyd. Many of them are original, award-winning pieces. The majority are traditional Irish/Scottish songs. But the single most important thing to be said about their music is that in none of it is there ever to be found any hint or reference to squirrels.
Product Description
This CD contains some delightfully fun songs including "The Faerie Story", Biddy McGrath, Mrs. Murphy's Chowder, and The Scotsman. 5 Wonderful original pieces including two songs by Joe Maher and 3 by Darby's own S. Messer. Darby runs the gamut from traditional Irish and Scottish songs through Van Morrison's "Jackie Wilson".

Luck was never on their side..........2007-04-04
This band's story is on various music sites and dictionary sites. Read it and you will agree with my title. Anyway this CD is worth picking up before it goes out of print like the 1st one. "Nobody..." is sort of a collector's item now as you can see by the used prices. Yes, they borrowed heavily from AC/DC but updated it well. Were really the only band with this sound in the mid 90's. A little better timing and airplay could have put some of their songs in those "TOP 500 OF All TIME" playlists that come out every Memorial Day...
A pitiful cryin shame.......2006-09-15
I have both Horsemen CD's. Love them both in their own way. Tremendous talent. Tremendous vocals, writing skills and musicianship. Just an astonishingly great CD. More, much more music from this band should have come. At least we have 2 great albums from the Four Horsemen. But when I get through listening to this one, I just sit and wonder...what if?
One of my all time favorites........2005-10-28
I don't remember where I first heard this band but I am glad I did. I have both albums - "Gettin Pretty Good..." and "Nobody Said It Was Easy" I love them both. Hard rocking songs to get me motivated. Great CD for driving alone, volume turned way up!!! If you like Southern Rock, both of these should be in your collection.
GOOD OLD FASHIONED ROCK!!!!!!!!!.......2004-10-11
Thank's to Nirvana and that no talent piece of crap Kurt nobrain,The Four Horsemen never had a chance. To bad, because this album and Nobody said it was easy kick ass. I guess thre's just no accounting for good taste!
Skynyrd meets AC/DC!.......2004-07-11
It is surely a shame that the talent these guys had didn't allow them to get more exporsure in the mainstream before tragedy cashed them out of the rock and roll scene.
In short, this is ONE GREAT CD!
Too bad more bands don't emulate or aspire to this high level of rocking, stomping, kicking music. Of course, today's record companies wouldn't know what to do with such a genuine band on their label anyway!
These guys are/were great. God Bless them!

One of his best!.......2005-08-06
I have all of David Lee Murphy's CD's and love them all, however, this has got to be one of my favorites. There is not one song on this CD that I don't like. He's got the ballads and he's got the rockers. If you've never heard him before, check him out. I guarantee you will like him!
A great country album.......2005-06-02
David's roots are clearly in traditional country but his music has a contemporary edge to it. He is well capable of singing both ballads and up-tempo songs, always on themes that you expect from country singers. David writes (at least on this album) all of his own songs, though sometimes with the help of a co-writer.
The album starts in great style with Every time I get around you, an up-tempo love song. Of the other songs, my favorites are Genuine rednecks (another up-tempo song to get those toes tapping), 100 years to late (a ballad about a man reflecting on white might have been), Breakfast in Birmingham (a mid-tempo song about a man wishing he hadn't asked a woman to leave him) and I've been a rebel (a reflective ballad). All the other songs are also of a high quality.
David was one among many brilliant country singers that emerged in the nineties and had some success but was unable to sustain it. Nevertheless, if you enjoy the music of Alan Jackson, you will probably enjoy this album.
Excellent Artist, excellent album.......2004-02-19
This is still one of my all time favorite country albums. Out With A Bang was good as well, but this was even better. I can listen straight through without skipping anything. "Everytime I get Around You" is just an awesome song. "The Road You Leave Behind" and "She's Really Something To See" are both great songs as well. Pirates Cove is a cool little song in it's own right. I just saw David in his return concert last month promoting his new release coming out in March. He played a local bar and was just as good as ever. He really entertained and his newest song "Loco" has to be heard live to really be appreciated. I have to recommend this to anyone who is at all in to Country music.
Nice album........2000-09-08
Country music started to lose its edge in the mid 90s and albums almost had to follow some sort of formula. This one in a sense did that, but for some reason it has staying power, whereas most of the country albums that came out at that time have just kind of faded away. The guitars are great, Murphy's got the voice thing going on, and the lyrics are a good match. I don't know anyone who doesn't like "The Road You Leave Behind." Most tracks pay homage to rednecks and the rural lifestyle, which is something I appreciate. I love this CD, but would like to offer David Lee Murphy one piece of advice: Lose the hat. Your hair is too big.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!.......1999-03-10
I have been a fan of David Lee since "Out With A Bang"came out.My favorites on "Gettin'Out The Good Stuff"are "Everytime I get Around You","The Road You Leave Behind",and "Genuine Rednecks".This CD is not a waste at all.It is the best one that I own.COUNTRY MUSIC AT ITS BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best New Band.......2001-03-03
I have had the wonderful opportunity of seeing this band play live 5 times here in New York City. I make an effort to see them play anytime they are in the City. The album is fantastic!!! The lead singer has incredible range, a gregarious personality, always smiling. Paul Carbonara, the lead guitar player, is one of the best guitar players out there, Mike Jones, the bass player, smooth, and the drummer, Tommy Allen, another seasoned professional of this band, always drums at his best, like it's his last performance. They are a professional, tight, creative band. I hope they go far. Listening to their music puts you in a different place, the lyrics are so well-written. I think these guys are the real thing. This album is sure to be a classic, add it to your collection! If you live in New York City, they are playing the Luna Lounge on March 7! Go, you will not regret it!
You Won't Stop Playing It.......2001-01-31
This is now in permanent rotatation with Mavericks, Springsteen, Crenshaw, Kelly Willis and The Derailers. Absolutely wonderful, and the freshest CD I've bought in months.
This Band is "Going Somewhere".......2000-09-06
From the moment I put it in my CD player I was moved to dance. The lyrics and melodies combined in such a spectacular way that touched me and made me smile. When I reached the end all I wanted was to play it all over again!! The lead singers haunting voice combined with the rest of this extremely talented band gives me goose bumps when I listen. If you want to listen to something that will motivate you to dance and live life with the wind in your face as you cruise down a long desert highway this is the CD that will take you there...in a heartbeat!!! I highly recommend you add Red Radio Flyer to your collection...it's going to be a classic!!!!
