Album Description

Nostalgic and sentimental, but with a keen ear for the lithe beauty of some of Scottish trad's song repertoire, Margaret Bennett, native of the Isle of Skye is a throwback to another time. When accordion and fiddle did the two-step and 'Sweet Forget Me Nots' rang from the wireless. Still, this is a lovingly honed collection; one that would be labelled 'Old Timey' if a U.S. label released it. (Unsurprisingly, she lived for 9 years in Newfoundland, a folkie's paradise). Bennett's soprano is startlingly crystalline, close harmonies provided by Gillian Frame and Hamish and Finlay Napier. Beautiful, gentle tiptoeing music. Foot Stomp. 2004.

This is the reissue from LP Phase 4 Stereo "The incomparable Jerome Kern", a wonderful collection of 11 tracks, in a marvelous sound, recorded originaly in 1974.
Phase 4 Stereo is still the best sound ever produced, with big orchestras and artist, like Chacksfield, Aldrich, Black and Larcange.

I am 57 and I remember George Feyer's albums since I was a child.
I kept many of them on vinyl from my father's collection.
I will be hightly interested on getting the echoe's whole collection remastered on CD.

There are 2 CD's of George available. If you like well played piano, with great arrangements, then these are for you. He had a great career on the club circuit in New York and deserves any and all praise. Unfortunately he has passed on to that Concert Grand in the sky, but these CD's will keep his talent alive.

The Essential Jerome Kern.......2001-01-07

Once again George Feyer has proved he is a concert pianist. The way he plays Kern reveal not only his great musicality, but also his great musical culture and taste. He uses to improvise slightly including some familiar themes from his favorite Chopin and other composers in his accompaniment. All recordings are perfectly remastered and sound beautifully. This album is a must for every collector of popular music. Both thumbs up! We are still waiting for more Feyer (his series of "Echoes..." (of Broadway, Hollywood, Paris, Budapest, Rome etc.), which made him famous in America.
