About the Artist
Colcannon has developed a distinctive, inventive, and contemporary musical style while still keeping in firm touch with the heart and essence of traditional Irish music. Colcannon's concerts are renowned for their energy, for singer/frontman Mick Bolger's irrepressible sense of humor and sly wit, and, of course, for the music; music that expresses flights of joy, deep sorrows, and an unquenchable zest for life. The band formed in 1984 in Boulder Colorado, USA, and their reputation has grown steadily over the years with the release of six fine CDs on the Oxford Road Records label. The group's first three albums were produced by bluegrass/folk legend Tim O'Brien, and their most recent release, Corvus, spent three months in the Top Ten on the National Celtic Radio Charts in the U.S. The Emmy®-award winning PBS special, "Colcannon in Concert," filmed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in 1993, has aired nationwide. Colcannon has also been part of many collaborative projects- they were featured on John McEuen's soundtrack for the television mini-series "The Wild West", as well as on the Western Heritage Award winning album of the same name and The Nashville Network Television special "The Music of the Wild West". Recently, the group has provided music for an audio project "Secrets of the World- The Good People" featuring Irish master storyteller and folklorist Eddie Lenihan. Other recent projects include the development of 'Lusanna' a work for Colcannon and chamber orchestra, written by Colcannon bassist Mike Fitzmaurice, with text and lyrics in Irish and English by vocalist Mick Bolger. 'Lusanna' will premiere in the fall of 2002. Earlier collaborations with orchestra featured Fitzmaurice's 'The Red Kite', a three movement concerto for Colcannon and orchestra, as well as symphonic arrangements of some of Colcannon's original compositions. Colcannon's appeal crosses lines of age, gender and ethnic background; For while the musical focus is on the beautiful wealth of traditional Irish music- all acoustic instrumentation, traditional as well as original tunes and songs, with some of the songs in Mick's native Irish language- Colcannon's true message is the story of the resilient and joyous human spirit.
Mick Bolger-vocals, bodhran;
Mike Fitzmaurice- acoustic bass, guitars;
Rod Garnett, flutes;
Jean Bolger- fiddle;
Brian Mullins- mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, flute.
Product Description
This is an album of all traditional music and songs. There was no particular notion of returning to our roots' -- those roots are too many and varied to be gone back to easily. We just found ourselves playing and learning these songs and tunes from each other when we had down time on the road or were just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Some came from books, some from sessions and friends. Many of the songs have been favorites for a long time -- in a couple of cases since childhood. A few of the tunes are warhorses of the traditional repertoire -- others are more obscure.
Our interpretations may not be fierce traditional' but neither have we tried to impose some preconceived stylistic gloss: we just played them as they seemed to us to want to be played.

On their full-length debut, Denver quartet the Fray don't exactly reinvent the wheel, but those looking for melodic, mid-tempo pop could do far worse. That said, the 12 songs on Top 40 hit How To Save a Life are barely distinguishable from each other. If you like one, you'll probably like the rest (and you'll be in the company of thousands of other listeners.) If you don't like one, it's unlikely the others will change your mind. Formed in 2002 and signed by Epic in 2004, the band consists of Isaac Slade (vocals, piano), Joe King (guitar, vocals), Ben Wysocki (drums), and Dave Welsh (guitar). Since their formation, the Fray have elicited comparisons to British groups like Coldplay and Keane, and American ones like Counting Crows and the Wallflowers. They've also toured with Weezer and Ben Folds and had songs--like first single "Over My Head (Cable Car)"--featured on such popular programs as Grey's Anatomy. Though they incorporate guitar, unlike Keane, Slade's expert piano playing is prominent on every track. To his credit, he can also hit the high notes just as gracefully as Coldplay's Chris Martin, but therein lies the rub: As with the band as a whole, Slade hasn't quite found his own voice yet. How To Save a Life is polished and professional, bland and inoffensive. It goes down easy, but evaporates into the ether just as quickly. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Good Pop.......2007-07-20
Not bad, 3 stars only. Songs all kind of sound the same after a few plays!
Album starts off well then fades..........2007-07-19
By now, most people who listen to alternative rock have heard of these guys. If you are reading this, then you want to know "Do I really want this album?". I think if you like the genre of music a lot (like Coldplay, Blue October, Keane), the go ahead and give this album a try. If you just like one of their songs, consider downloading that song and a couple more (chose from tracks 1 - 6 for more upbeat melodies and after for slower ones). The album tended to grow on me but is still not one I listen too all that often because of many of the songs sounding very similar.
Over and over again.......2007-06-16
I heard "Over MY Head" on a TV cable series, found it catchy, and wanted to find out who recorded it. After an eventful personal odyssey, I finally discovered this. Unfortunately my journey was a wasted effort. HOW TO SAVE A LIFE, the debut album for this piano-based-sounding group (from Denver-if that has any significance), is pleasant enough, that is, on first listening, but it is clearly superficial and soon becomes redundant. The enticing single "Over My Head" does have an entertaining chorus and a memorable refrain that makes nice use of the cable car metaphor. The majority of the other compositions on this album, however, sound as if they were manufactured by a cookie cutter song machine. Indeed, I don't think I recall ever hearing selections that were so much alike: they use a very (VERY) similar musical structure, are almost identical in studio production, and follow the same form- opening with an understated verse which then moves speedily to a chorus (that sounds like the chorus of the previous song) and repeats ala loop to make the statement. A slight exception might be the title track "How To Save A Life" (apparently among those heard on Grey's Anatomy) with its delicate piano intro and tender ballad-like message or "She Is" which demonstrates a bit of a driving rhythm. But even those do not stray too far away from the mold. They both, for example, still employ the same repetitious chorus device (in fact, when I was listening to "How to Save A Life" I thought it was "Over My Head."). The rest aren't even worth comment other than to say they are undistinguished. At best, they are derivative in content (borrowing from other vanilla-type ensembles) which nonetheless still does not excuse their own absence of variety. Likewise, the lead singer's voice, reminiscent perhaps of David Gray's, fits the tone of "Over My Head," but by the time you hear its whining character on two or three of the other tracks [incidentally- NOT like David Gray], you may want to be rescued from the experience. The continued exposure will either annoy you or put you to sleep.
To the point, this first album for The FRAY indicates that the group understands the concept of formula far too well. They should appreciate, however, that comfortable and familiar often leads very quickly to boring. With that in mind, most, if not all, of this can be thrown in the waste bin unless you are looking for sounds that will induce deep slumber. To be honest, its most salient feature is monotony. It is unobtrusively bland and shallow, with little evidence of either creative or original effort.
very listenable tracks.......2007-06-04
I spend most of my time in Europe, so I don't get too much exposure to up and coming bands. By chance on a recent trip home I heard The Fray on one of the 'Top 40' programs. I liked what I heard, sampled a few tracks online, and bought the music. While I might agree with the numerous reviews that say many of the Fray's songs sound similar, I still enjoy them. I recommend giving a listen to the Fray and look forward to seeing what comes next from them.
excellent album.......2007-05-26
This album is a great album. Each song is really good. Very mellow.

Product Description
Voted by Guitar Player readers as 2007's Best Blues Guitarist, blues-rock guitar virtuoso, vocalist, and songwriter JOE BONAMASSA is set to release his seventh solo album, SLOE GIN, on August 21, 2007. Bonamassa's fourth release, the disc re-teams him with producer Kevin Shirley (Joe Satriani, Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Leppelin), who produced 2006's YOU & ME, which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Blues Chart in June of last year.
SLOE GIN effortlessly ranges through heavy blues and acoustic numbers alike, a textured flow that Bonamassa says was in part inspired by Rod Stewart's legendary 1969 debut solo LP. In the liner notes, Joe adds, "I sequenced the album as a throwback to the side A/side B set-up of vinyl records...listening to an album as a whole is a lost pastime. i wanted to bring that experience back around.
Renowned for this fluid phrasing and post-modern fusion of traditional roots blues with rock and roll guts, Bonamassa began playing guitar at age four, and toured with blues icon B.B. King when he was twelve. Recently, Joe was named Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Magazine's 2007 Reader's Choice Awards. He is also the youngest member of the Memphis, TN-based Blues Foundation's Board of Directors, and a spokesperson for their respected Blues in the Schools Program.

Aha Shake Heartbreak may have blown open the doors of fame for Kings of Leon, but their third full-length album (named for a United Pentecostal Church ministers' conference) could well usher the Nashville foursome directly to rock and roll's zenith. There's hardly a change in plans for the three Followill brothers and their cousin, and that means producer Ethan Johns, a smorgasbord of musical influences, and a cacophonous ensemble of guitar, bass, and drums. A trio of relentless rockers--"My Party," "Camaro," and the sarcastic "Charmer"--are sure to pacify those familiar with the Kings' blueprint, yet there is ripening in the band's approach heard, in several of the record's 13 songs. Reverb guitar and vocals and a "woo woo" chorus add a sinister aspect to "Trunk," and "Knocked Up" features a laissez-faire Caleb Followill crooning "She don't care what her mama said/She's gonna have my baby." The seven-minute revelation of fatherhood that opens the album leads into the U2-influenced "McFearless," a reggae-splashed "Ragoo," and the rambling English blues of "Black Thumbnail." It's a rogue element that has always left every record fresh, and this time it has Kings of Leon teetering on the edge of rock renown. --Scott Holter
Album Description
Third album from the rockin' American quartet whose previous albums (2003's Youth And Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak from '05) have earned them a large worldwide following. Kings Hit a Triple.......2007-08-02
I agree with the Stone that these guys keep getting better and better. I've got the other two discs and each one seems to build on the next. Everyone's playing on this CD stands out.
think infectious basslines........2007-08-02
not that my opinion really registers for anything, but i happen to think that this was a fantastic cd. to me, the extended period between their last cd seemed perpetual and when this cd was finally released, i was not disappointed. though i do like 'ahashake heartbreak' better, i still say that this cd is far from overrated. true its not part ll of the last cd but at least they took a different approach. too many bands produce so many identical records. change can be good. [can, but not always. however in this case it is.] i recommend this cd.
Do not hesitate to buy if you were disappointed with ASH.......2007-07-11
I thought Youth and Young Manhood was excellent, thought Aha Shake Heartbreak wasn't that good and therefore wasn't gonna pick up Because of the Times. But my husband had read good reviews and purchased it. Wow! What a coup/comeback for the Followill boys! I think this is their best so far; a very strong disc. I don't think there is a dud song on the whole album. I almost blew out the speakers in my car cranking up Black Thumbnail and My Party over and over and over. Moody, diverse, rockin' - love it! Buy it, you will not be sorry you did.
Disappointing comeback.......2007-07-07
Maybe it's just me, but I haven't been able to get into this. I loved their first album, thought their second one was okay, but this one may be worse than the last one. I can't really give too thorough of a review since I didn't get past the fourth song on the first listen, and haven't listened to it since, even seriously considered trading it in.
I got this CD after reading a stellar review by Q Magazine appauding it. Needless to say, I was disappointed.
Best Alternative/Indie/Rock Album This Year.......2007-07-05
If you're reading this review, you probably know to some extent who the Kings of Leon are - a relatively young indie-rock band out of Tennessee whose appeal is said to come from equal parts youthful energy and wisdom-beyond-their-years.
Their debut was a southern-fried scramble of distorted guitars and yelping vocals that seemed to delight in its own unholiness. On Because of the Times, the guitars are still distorted, the singer's still yelping and the themes aren't necessarily wholesome - see 'Knocked Up', in which singer Caleb belts "She don't care what her mama says, no she's gonna have my baby" - but at times there's a beauty to the arrangements that's almost divine.
That's not to suggest that the band has forgotten to rock, though, because they haven't; in fact, at this point in their career the band has the musicianship to back up their ambition, and the result is some of the most fulfilling rock you can hear on the indie scene today.
If you like either of KoL's previous two albums, you'll love this one. If you're looking for an introduction to the Kings of Leon's work, this is as good a starting point as any.

From Amazon.co.uk
Despite the photographic presence of an acoustic guitar (the rock & roll equivalent of a rubber bullet), the enviably lovely hair and the unassuming knitwear, Sheryl Crow is staring back at us from the cover of The Very Best Of with her chin resting on a fist clenched tightly with white-knuckled defiance. This is, after all, the girl whose wishful thinking led her to sing "All I wanna do is have some fun" while privately preferring to either curl up in bed for a very long time or roll over and die (she's recently come out of the closet with regards to her longstanding battles with depression).
Yes, she's earned herself an armful of Grammys and has been damned with faint praise, but if you go easy on the relatively troublesome second half of Sheryl Crow's 10-year solo career (the poppy optimism of songs like "C'mon C'mon" and "Soak Up the Sun" seems strained), then this decade-acknowledging resumé serves as a reminder of her narrative talents for summarising the pitfalls of burdensome workloads ("Everyday Is a Winding Road") and problematic squeezes ("My Favorite Mistake") within an MTV-friendly pop framework. --Kevin Maidment
Customer Reviews:
Crow's Nest.......2007-06-15
This is a good and complete compilation of Crow's hits to the date of release of the album. A good summary of her work for those who just want 1 Cheryl CD. The album seems very much a piece of 90s culture.
The Very Best of Sheryl Crow.......2007-05-14
The CD was recieved in a damaged state.
I called customer service and after about a 5 minute conversation the service rep initiated a replacement.
I recieved the replacement the next day.
Not Bad,But..........2007-03-26
Not a Bad album-in fact for the Most part,it's pretty Good...but the Subaru ad's murdered any liking I've ever had for "Every Day is a Winding Road"-now,when I hear it,my first impulse is to curse and hit the Mute button. Thanks,Subaru...
Enjoyable yet not sensational.......2007-03-18
Although country rock is not a hundred percent my favourite (I would either go for Anouk or June Carter separately) I can't say it's that far either. So I purchased the CD knowing that I would be listening to it every now and then, yet very aware that it is not going to be my favourite. I was sort of right.
Although I like Sheryl's voice texture and some of her songs are good enough (All I wanna do, Picture, Every day is a winding road) I also found some others to be 'overcommercial', as in dagerously approaching pop (and I don't like the term 'pop-rock', pop and rock are miles apart), for example 'the first cut is the deepest' and 'I wanna soak up the sun'.
I was also disappointed that 'Tomorrow never dies' (The James Bond theme) was not included. And I have to admit, even though her 'Sweet child of mine' version is nothing like the original (which is my Guns n' Roses all time favourite) I would prefer it in the collection rather than others.
Overall, as a greatest hits collection is satisfactory, and if you are into this music you will probably like it. Most of Crow's known work is there, and is quite entertaining as well. The truth is, I bought it three years ago, listened to it a handful of times, and since then is has been living on my CD rank. I thought about selling it but at the end I decided to keep it. I don't know if this makes sense. If it doesn't I apologise...
Sheryl Crow.......2007-02-02
I enjoy the range of songs Sheryl Crow sings and it is nice to here all of her best hits on one cd. I just hope she continues churning out the great songs to make another greatest hits album!

It's common knowledge that solo albums are simply an excuse for a frustrated band member to indulge their experimental sides and Rob Thomas, singer for decidedly M.O.R. multiplatinum rockers Matchbox Twenty is not one to pass on the opportunity. Having already explored the classic rock thing through his collaborations with Mick Jagger and Santana, Thomas goes the other way here with results that are unexpected, and, sometimes totally unbelievable. He veers from modern R&B on the Justin Timberlake-aping "Lonely No More" to vintage prog-rock in "All That I Am," touching on all points in between. There are a few nods to the Matchbox canon with "Ever the Same" and "This Is How a Heart Breaks" but, as the title suggests, this is an album about finding himself. For the moment, Thomas is still searching. The DualDisc portion features 5.1 surround sound, a 20-minute documentary on the making of the album by filmmaker Gillian Grisman, plus the holiday tune, "Christmas in New York." --Aidin Vaziri
Album Description
As the lead singer to the multi-platinum group matchbox 20, Rob Thomas penned a remarkable string of chart-topping hits. Rob has also collaborated with a select list of artists-most notably Santana, for whom he wrote and sang the smash pop single, "Smooth," which earned Thomas three Grammy Awards.
Customer Reviews:
Too experimental for my taste.......2007-07-04
This album was a huge departure from the work Rob Thomas had done with Matchbox Twenty. There are a lot of funky, soulful grooves on this album, which didn't work for me. It was a valiant effort, but most of the songs just didn't make much of an impact on me. "Lonely No More" was a great single, and inspired me to buy the album. Other than that single, there just wasn't any other song that really blew me away. A few decent songs, and the rest was filler. I look forward to Rob's next release, whether it be back with Matchbox Twenty, or another solo project.
A must have for any Rob Thomas Fan.......2007-04-10
I have always been a fan of MatchBox 20 and when Rob Thomas decided to do a solo project I was very excited. The cd has a sound reminescent of MatchBox 20 in places but in others he has a sound all his own. He has a wonderful voice and I really enjoyed the slower songs on the cd.
Something to Be is excellent.......2007-04-02
This CD came in excellent shape. It is both a CD and a DVD. Very much worth the price. Very entertaining!
Great CD .......2007-02-15
Great CD but not worth it for a Dual Disc. I can't play it in my car because it's a dual disc (CD on one side and DVD on the other) and I can only play it in my computer if I have a DVD player loaded on my computer. It's a great CD. The songs are fabulous but I want a CD with the songs on it that I can play in my car and download the songs onto my computer. I ended up downloading the songs from ITunes but still can't play the CD in my car. I still give the CD 4 stars because I love every single song. It'd get another star if the DVD played any music videos.
Profound Messages.......2007-01-13
Love the music and his voice. Great percussion throughout. Every song tells a story. I've recommended this CD to lots of friends.

Travis seemingly disappeared after the arguably forgettable 12 Memories but the sound of the Scottish group's daydream-pretty guitar rock endured thanks to Keane, Snow Patrol, and especially Coldplay. More than three years later, Travis is playing catch-up with their fifth studio album, The Boy with No Name. Predictably, it's a well-crafted affair, bursting to life with tunes that celebrate life's minor victories such as "Closer," "Battleships," and "My Eyes." But as a comeback effort it feels flawed, let down by both melodies that disappear into the ether as quickly as they come out of the speakers ("One Night," "3 Times You Lose") and those that clumsily attempt to tweak the formula ("Eyes Wide Open," "Selfish Jean"). --Aidin Vaziri

I did not truly appreciate this album until about a week ago when I had the chance to see them live. I have always loved Travis, but this is now by far my favorite of their albums. They do not let their fans down, so if you get a chance to see them in concert, go! The highlights on this cd are My Eyes, Eyes Wide Open, Battleships, Big Chair, Closer, and Selfish Jean... ok, I know I just named half the cd, but that just shows how strong this cd is.
The Band With No Credit.......2007-08-01
The good thing for the person who fires back comments like Travis sounds like Coldplay is that they have been making music long before Coldplay ever hit the scene. I enjoy both bands for different reasons.
But now about this release ---back to another band that has been around for a decade (like Low) and another band that has decided to combine all of their best qualities into one awesome release (like Low's Drums and Guns). Obviously that is the only thing these two bands have in commmon.
I was not disappointed in this new release by Travis. "The Boy With No Name" is another solid release that fcllows previous albums "12 Memories" and "The Invisible Band." This 2007 release is a slightly more mellow then the two mentioned above, but only ever so slightly. "3 Times And You Lose" "Selfish Jean" "Closer" "Big Chair" and "Eyes Wide Open" are the best songs off this album. The rest are completely solid but obviously the track listing is above so I won't name them all. Hopefully this latest release will finally draw attention to Travis and give them the credit that they deserve.
This one is strong........2007-07-28
I think people are being too hard on this album. If you listen to the last two Colplay albums and the last Keane, you'll hear repetitive simplistic chords and melodies and little variation. And Coldplay has completely forgotten how to write the textured layered music that was so outstanding on Parachutes. Travis hasn't forgotten how to write moody textural music with accessible melodies and I love that. I think Fran Healey's voice is a little light compared to the low-register belting we all know he's capable of, but still this album is really strong compared to their last couple. Outside of Selfish Jean, the whole album sets a mood, great for driving or walking, and I appreciate when the entire album has a sound, a mood, an atmosphere. It's a like a collection of art, and this is a strong collection.
Buy this album!.......2007-07-26
Seriously, if you love Travis, buy this album. From start to finish this is a fabulous album. Full of sweet songs that make you feel warm and fuzzy. Saw them live last night and they blew me away. Again, BUY IT!! :)
A Great Band WIth A Simple Name...........2007-07-25
Melodic.....Melodic....Melodic....and simply melodic....This album is so good , anyone with a decent, intelligent taste in post-punk indie rock or brit-alternative pop would love this...Don't listen to those who have given this album low rating because they just don't seem familiar with how Travis do things!! To me this band is much better than Wilco and definitely deserves much more recognition...Get this album now!!

Tender Years.......2007-07-20
I love the song Tender Years on this soundtrack. The beginning with all the saxaphone playing is a wonderful tune.
Great songs; Not-so-good audio quality.......2007-03-08
I bought this CD for the song "Tender Years", which has been one of those songs I've had a distant admiration for since I saw this movie back in the 80s. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the audio quality of this cd isn't the best. It sounds like it's been recorded live with some guy with a microphone (without the live crowd noise).
Cruising with Eddie & the Cruisers.......2007-01-19
This is an album of great rock music that I enjoy listening to during my morning jogs or cruising the vast distances of Australia.
Each song is a story supported by wonderful music and strong beat.
It is just a shame that the "Eddie & the Cruisers" movies and music got little or no exposure in Australia.
This is certainly an album to be enjoyed.

Buckcherry reestablish their status as one of the most raucous and delightfully dirty-minded acts in the industry today with 15, a truly bombastic rock & roll blast. Vocalist Josh Todd leads this high-energy act into battle with the colossal one-two-three punch of "So Far," "Next 2 You," and "Out Of Line," each anchored by the weighty rhythm section of drummer Xavier Muriel and bassist Jimmy Ashhurst, then elevated by the Olympian guitar attack of Keith Nelson and Stevie D. But while an appropriate levity prevails on those tracks and others--such as "Crazy Bitch," "Broken Glass," and the good time stomp "Brooklyn"--the band also find time to show a more sensitive and mature side with the hit-worthy and country-inflected "Carousel," plus the unapologetically melancholy "Sorry." If there's a fault to be found on 15 it doesn't reveal itself easily, and if there's a fault to be found with Buckcherry it is perhaps that they imbue listeners with a zest for living. But that clearly is no crime. --Jedd Beaudoin
Album Description
The band who broke onto the national scene in 1999 returns. "I am playing the hell out of it. It combines all the best elements of Aerosmith and Guns N Roses in their prime" - Eddie Trunk (Q104 NYC syndicated radio host and VH1 Classic on-air personality). "Coming on like the Black Crowes by way of AC/DC, this LA-based band is at its best blasting its way through hard-hitting riff rockers" - Entertainment Weekly.

Great CD.......2007-08-01
I find myself singing along to every song except Crazy Bitch, which is my least favorite on this CD because of all the radio play and juke box play it has gotten. There are some suprisingly bluesy songs on here that you wouldn't necessarily expect from Buckcherry, but they are amongst my favorites.
CD.......2007-07-04
This CD arrived in excellent condition and i listen to it all the time. The quality is great and I'm very happy with it.

It's tempting to label the Dave Matthews Band as torchbearers of the Grateful Dead's moderate rock fusion and send them off on the next summer tour featuring either Blues Traveler or the Spin Doctors. But there is more at work here, particularly on the band's second major-label release. Crash pairs soothing sounds (flute, acoustic guitar, six-string bass) with a dark emotional undercurrent. The South African (by way of Virginia) frontman reveals a rare intensity on the title track and the free-form "41," while the group shows that it's not afraid to let loose on songs such as the stirring "Too Much." Producer Steve Lillywhite adds an impressive sheen to the recordings. --Aidin Vaziri
Customer Reviews:
"Crash" was definatly not a crash...as far as sophmore albums go.......2007-06-21
Despite the fact that I am writing an online review for a DMB album that isn't their best, I am still writing this to show that "Crash" is definatly "one of their best".
When Dave Matthews first started this band in the very early 90's, he noted that he did not know how successful DMB would be. They soon ignited a revolution in music consisting of solid rock mixed with jazz that appealed to different fan bases. Crash is an album that would appeal to the typical listener, and it would give goosebumps to those who really consider DMB to be one of their favorite bands.
In "Two Step", you really get introduced to DMB's tendancy to plod around and jam for 6+ minutes. It really is a nice feel when you listen to it. The third track off this album is "Crash into Me", which is their most successful single. "#41" is definatly a song to listen to. Because the song has such a catchy introduction, the listener instantly get's engulfed and is soon satisfied after its 6:39 running.
"Lie in Our Graves" is possibly their best song off this album. The story to this song is so subtle, yet you know everything when it ends. It simply talks about the story of a boy who is born, grows up, and eventually see's his friends and loved ones die off as he is there to stay. Because this song is better when heard live, I can't say that the middle jam is "gold". I'd probably have to say its "great". Because most of their live versions of this song clock in around 12 minutes, this 5:42 version isn't as packed, but it definatly is a piece of art.
"Proudest Monkey" is perhaps the most unique song on the album, because of its telling story. It is also a 9 minute plod of jamming that are very well expressed by Dave, Boyd, Stefan, Carter, and Leroi.
This album wasn't at all a "crash" as far as sophmore albums go. In fact, it was one of their greatest they've released. This album would definatly appeal to new fans, and it would give true fans goosebumps everytime they hear it.
Best album to meet DMB.......2007-06-03
This was the first DMB album I listened and it just keeps suprinsing me. Every time I hear it, I find something new as if it was posible for each song to sound diferent each time. If you've never listen DMB, this is a sure bet!
A Luscious, Brilliant Album...............2007-04-01
CRASH by the Dave Matthew Band is just amazing. I can't believe I waited so long to buy this. How would I describe this album in one word? STUNNING. I mean, between the seamless percussion and sensuous vocals, this album has you at the opening bars of "So Much To Say" (track #1) and doesn't let go until "Proudest Monkey" (the final track, #12). Dave Matthews is masterful here, as are the supporting musicians. The soaring violin-work on track #3, "Crash," on of their most well-known songs, is masterfully delivered by Boyd Tinsley. Oh my God, I would marry this man and I have never even had a conversation with him....he seduces me with his violin. This whole album is an odyssey through love, sexuality and alienated indifference. This music is way more than compelling melodies. The lyrics are poetry. Dave Matthews is at once intimately alluring on "Crash," and then emotinally unavailable on "Say Goodbye," an ode to one night stands. Get this album today. Don't wait another day........buy it now.
Shakespeare.......2006-12-27
The man is Shakespeare with a guitar. Future generations will be quoting his songs.
Perfect album!!!!.......2006-11-18
I believe this album is their best album ever, so far. I cant
see any other ablum as perfect as this one. They got some really
good albums too. "crash into me" got me into this band. I remember
the first time I heard that song I was with my girl at the time,
and we both just fell in love with it.

For parents, listening to Dan Zanes provides not only instant Raffi relief, but also the warm sense of belonging to the right crowd. On each disc he trots out a posse of cool friends like Sheryl Crow, Suzanne Vega, and Lou Reed and he delivers his openhearted lyrics with the rare roots-rocker's gift for stirring grace into grit. It would seem that the release of his fourth record, House Party would be ripe for a backlash--how long can the hokey conceit of a bunch of aging groovsters banging out kids' tunes in a Brooklyn basement hang onto its charm? Looks like we'll have to wait and see, because House Party rages on with the same winning, welcome-to-our-homespun-revolution vibe as its predecessors. Deborah Harry takes a twirl on "Waltzing Matilda," Bob Weir fires up the "Wabash Cannonball," and Angelique Kidjo bids "Jamaica Farewell," but the Zanes originals are this record's proving grounds, and they pin the tail on the donkey with bulls-eye precision. Contributions from returning regulars Barbara Brousal and Rankin' Don--the best couple of favors a party could hope for--send Zanes' campaign to become the guy who turned lampshade-wearing into a kindergarten fashion craze soaring. --Tammy La Gorce

GREAT! Brings back lots of Memories.......2007-07-27
I purchased this CD for my baby and she and I love it! She loves the tunes and the songs bring back memories from my childhood. I would highly recommend this CD. It's fun and will have you singing along.
Great fun.......2007-07-25
My daughter loves this cd and it's grown on me too. She and I dance a lot to this. One favorite is the "Wabash Cannonball" and "Waltzing Matilda" with Debbie Harry is fantastic.
Dan's first album...Wiggle the Wiggles out of your CD Player.......2007-06-12
You may have seen Dan on various spots on Sesame Street, I first saw him in his yellow suit, singing Jump Up. This album continues the wonderful music that my daughter has turned my wife and my self on to. The beats are there, and the lyrics are very catchy.
So do yourself a favor, swap out Wiggles or Barney for Dan and his Friends, and enjoy kids music once again.
Thank goodness for Dan Zanes!!!!!!.......2007-05-21
Mr. Zanes, you could not have come along at a better time! In a market where Teletubbies, Barney and the Wiggles seem to have the corner, this parent-friendly album is a welcome relief from all the fruit salad/I love you, you love me/lemondrops and gumdrops drivel that permeate my mushy stay-at-home mom brain!
When I was a single college gal, I remember listening to very hip, fun music. Then came pregnancy and babies. Then Baby Einstein music (which is good, but sounds like someone's ballerina jewelry box after awhile), Barney, Sesame Street and nursery rhyme CDs that took over my music collection. Ack!!! What happened to me? I decided it was time to search for something new for me and the kids to listen to.
After finding this CD and loving it, I just assumed that my one-year-old and four-year-old would not like DZ because it sounded too different from what they were used to. Boy, was I wrong! My older one thinks she is listening to "cool music" -- which she is! We especially like the "Wabash Cannonball" but every song on here is a hit with my kids. The guy is truly talented, and it's just great stuff. And it's fun to hear the celeb singers on a kid's album. Finally, we all have "cool music" to listen to!
My daughters favorite!.......2007-05-14
I bought this CD since Dan Zane is on the Disney Channel. My daughter absolutely loves it! She asks to hear "House Party" all day every day. We dance and sing and it has brought a lot of fun into our house.
