I can honestly say I did not buy this EP for the single of "Concrete Sky". I mainly bought it because I wanted to obtain everything of Beth's that I could. My goodness was I surprised! The song "Bobbie Gentry" is an absolute killer with Beth doing some of her most powerful vocals to date. The tune known as "Ali's Waltz" is also dazzling. But the most surprising cut on the record has got to be a hearty remix of "Carmella". One can only imagine how many glasses of wine went into the production of this one! With a complete symphony of percussion and electronica it surely must have been a fun time indeed in the studio. This CD is definitely worth the price of admission, especially for Beth fans.Recommended indeed.

1 out of 5 stars One to avoid.......2007-05-15

OK, first let me say taht I am a huge fan of Air Supply and always will be. The boys have been making alot of records for alot of years and I am sorry not everything they release and write is not their greatest work ever! This album was a different type of work for Air Supply in which in my eyes was a bit of a failure. I just did not connect with it at all. Graham Russell is still a VERY talented musician and he made me never doubt that after he released his first solo album "The Future" years after the release of this album. It is true that Russell is not able to sing like he used to but the man is getting older. I agree with a previous post that Graham is realizing this and writing to cater to Russell's voice as of now. I still love Russell's voice and will buy any future Air Supply albums (There is one due fall of '07). Now you might be saying, there is no way he is a fan trashing an album by Air Supply...but I am a fan and always will be but I am a realist too. There is alot of incredible music from Air Supply that you can buy but this is one to avoid. Air Supply's finest album? "The Vanishing Race" easily!

(el 2do A place where be belong)
Aunque TODOS estan buenisimos. Ni hablar de I'll found you y You belong to me, excelentes.
Sinceramente. Florencia-Argentina.

5 out of 5 stars Some things we need to know some things we need to see.......2004-10-08

Wow, I've read some interesting reviews here for Across The Concrete Sky, and I decided that I had to share my opinon about this CD too. If you are a true fan of Air Supply then you know that Russell and Graham are very different individuals who bring their amazing talents together to make their amazing sounds and music. ATCS is a different CD. It appeals to the Heart. It appealed strongly to my heart. When I first heard these songs sung live many of the songs put tears in my eyes. We Are All Children Covered in Mud...I hope that I never grow so old that I don't feel that inner child in me that always needs to be loved. We all need a Place Where We Belong. Finding our way in the world is not always easy...it's comforting to know that we are not the only one that struggles with the feeling of wanting to belong. For several months my daughter and my grandchildren were missing. I played "I'll Find You" EVERY day until they returned. This song gave me strength to endure, it reminded me that love would remain even between the unseen faces of loved ones. I took great comfort from this song. How boring it would be if every artist sang every song exactly the same way every single time that they sang a song. I appreciate ATCS for the variety of songs and vocal ranges. I have listened to many many Las Vegas concerts and find that Russell's voice is OUT of this world! And the sweet soft voice of Graham brings me a feeling of love and joy every time that I hear him. Air Supply's greatest legacy is their Legacy of Love...and I'm glad for the several copies of this cd that I own and have given as gifts. Everyone can relate if they just listen to the words. You will draw meaning from every song and you will be deligted that you purchased Across The Concrete Sky!!

5 out of 5 stars A Must for Air Supply fans!.......2004-08-06

While I found the last few Air Supply releases to be disappointing, this is finally the album that Air Supply fans have been waiting for. It's a return to their best work. The songs are beautiful, especially Come to Me, Shadow of the Sun, A Place Where We Belong, and Goodnight. They really have their best sound back. Even if you've been less than thrilled with their latest releases, don't be afraid to get this one. If you're a fan, you won't be sorry!

3 out of 5 stars BUEN ALBUM... PERO PUDO SER MEJOR...¡.......2004-07-01

CONCRETE SKY .. CONCEPTUALMENTE ES DE LOS MEJORES QUE AIR SUPPLY HA HECHO... PERO A MI ENTENDER, TIENE ALGUNOS DETALLES:1)GRAHAM CANTA CASI TODOS LOS TEMAS.. LO CUAL NO ME PARECE PORQUE.. LO QUE DEFINE A AIR SUPPLY, ES LA VOZ DE RUSSELL. 2)LA VOCALISTA QUE INCLUYERON ES BUENA, PERO TIENE DEMASIADO PROTAGONISMO EN LOS TEMAS... LO QUE DESVIRTUA UN POCO, EL ESTILO DE LA BANDA. 3)NO ESTOY DE ACUERDO CON QUE GRAHAM ESCRIBA TODOS LOS TEMAS DEL ALBUM.. DEBERIA HABER CABIDA A CANCIONES DE OTROS COMPOSITORES. POR LO DEMAS, ME ALEGRA QUE RUSSELL HAYA RECOBRADO ALGO DE SU TIMBRE DE VOZ CONOCIDO, Y DE SU RANGO VOCAL... SE PUEDE NOTAR ESTO EN SHADOW OF THE SUN, Y FEEL LIKE SCREAMING .. DOS DE LOS MEJORES TRACKS DEL ALBUM... EL CUAL ES AL MENOS... MUCHO MEJOR QUE EL YOURS TRULY...SINCERAMENTE ESTE ULTIMO, ES PARA OLVIDARLO...¡ SALUDOS...¡

5 out of 5 stars Waking up the Rock World.......2004-10-14

Concrete Sky is a breath of fresh air in today's rock scene. I like to think of this band as what would happen if Creed has talent, or Alter Bridge could write music.

With an unlimited range that varies from the very hard rock to the more mild, with some jazz and blues mixed in, this has to be one of the most talented bunch of musicians to arrive on the music scene in the last 20 years.

If you havent heard the sounds coming from Virginia, treat yourself to a great album, and pick this one up. It may never be a HUGE MTV CLASSIC, but you won't be able to put it back into the case anytime soon.

5 out of 5 stars Their best album since "Hearts In Motion".......2005-07-23

I just finished listening to this album of Air Supply for the first time and must confess that I never thought that it would be so good. Somewhere down the road, Air Supply separated from the essence of who they were musically, and this album represents an evolution, a continuity of the musical style which took them to the top in 80's. Lyrics are beautiful and intelligent, conceived by the genius in Graham. Great quality arrangements, excellent execution and with great feeling.
Russell Hitchcock's voice sounds deeper and richer than before - which can take by surprise Die-Hard fans who did not listen to the duo in their more recent recordings from the late 90's to the date - but it's still him, with his unmistakable style and feeling. Graham assumes a more visible role in this work and is an excellent way to refresh a little the structure of their music. In summary: This is a great album and I believe that it has more than enough merit to become a Super Hit! Those Air Supply guys have good music inside them for another 30 years of succes...

            2 out of 5 stars Not Air Supply's best.......2005-06-02

I love the music of Air Supply and was introduced to their music by a friend. Oddly it was some of their later music that I was introduced to and not one of thier mega hits. This album fails to capture the magic that previous ones did. Their finest album in mind is "The Vanishing Race". Graham has taken over the job of lead singer on this album away from Russell. Russell needs to be the lead singer as he has the more dominant voice. The song writing was mediocre at best. I wish Graham would take outside song writers again and turn the lead singing roll back over to Russell. If your a mega fan you will find this album tolerable if you are just a casual fan, avoid this one.

            4 out of 5 stars A Great New Album!.......2005-03-12

I was lucky enough to buy this one at a concert and get it signed by the boys. I highly recommend listening to "Come to Me", along with "A Place Where We Belong" and, "I'll Find You".When I saw them, they opened up the show with an acappella "Now and Forever" followed by one of the best tracks on this album, "Shadow of the Sun" which they merged with the ending of "Sweet Dreams". It's hard to find a band that won't dissapoint you, but Russell and Graham never will. God bless y'all
