Anything with Charles Manson on the title is going to be dismissed immediately, due to the fact that it's Manson the horrible cult leader murderer monster making the music. But, if you're one of the few who can look beyond a person, and actually look at the music instead, what you'll find is a suprisingly emotional, simple yet beautiful album. There are very personal songs on this album, some with lyrics so touching, I've seen people, and I myself, have been driven to tears listening.

If you're the type of person who will look at anything related to a "bad person" with blind, rabid hate...this album isn't for you. However, If you're the type of person who will give anything a chance...give Commemoration a try. You won't be sorry.

Worthwhile for people truly interested in Manson.......2001-10-01

If you're looking for Nine Inch Nails, this isn't it. This is Manson secretly recording himself in prison on a portable cassette recorder. Just him and an acoustic guitar. Don't expect heavy metal death rock. This is much more folk oriented. If you find the man interesting, you'll like these recordings.

I loved this album, man. Cause it says that killing a famous director's wife and writing 'helter skelter' in her blood is cool. And that the man is keeping us down. Not only that, it has a virtuoso guitar solo by Mr. Stratocaster himself, Chuck "Chops" Manson. And you thought Eric Clapton was god!? I haven't heard anything this fresh since last summer's Foghat concert.

Somewhat disappointed.......2006-07-05

I love Stephen Foster's songs. This CD left out a few of his familiar songs, but had a few that were not composed by him. Therefore the title is misleading. Although the choir was fine, I would like it better if they interpreted songs differently, reflecting characteristics of each song. Also I consider not having lyrics included in the CD a glaring omission.

Giya Kancheli's symphonies tend to be meditative (and eruptive) affairs quite unlike any other composer of his generation. He tends to alternate between quiet, thoughtful, even reverential passages, with sudden declarative bursts that are intentionally designed to wake up the listener. This may even be a kind of political statement: waking up the audience to the chaos around them. These two single-movement symphonies are his best works so far. Symphony 4 is in memory of Michelangelo, written in 1975. It's doggedly monophonic and quite intense. With Symphony 5 (1977) don't begin the piece with the sound turned way up. Rarities that should have stayed buried........2001-08-10

Long-hidden Morricone that should have remained unknown. Not soundtracks, but saccarine easy listening composed for the Italian pop market in the late 50s and early 60s. Despite Morricone's later achievements, this is totally forgettable elevator music. Sounds like the tapes have been given a digital clean-up.
