Over a year ago, some close friends of my wife and mine were obviously under pressure from an undisclosed source. Several weeks later we learned the truth: They both had AIDS. My wife and I were stunned, struggling to grasp the ramifications of this information: The suffering and certain deaths of our friends, the social stigma of the disease, the futures of their two small children...the effects were devastating in their magnitude. As we looked to one another and to our Lord Jesus Christ for comfort, we sought to understand God's purpose in allowing this tragedy.

Then one day the wife called and urged me to buy a tape and listen in particular to the song "Be Ye Glad". She told me what an encouragement the song had been to her. After listening closely to the words, I understood some of their value in comfort, but was curious to know why it meant so much to her. I asked her to put it in writing. It is an insight into her soul - the doubts, fears, questions, sufferings of one facing life's ultimate test. But instead of dwelling on these factors, this testimony focuses on the solution to every test in life -- the grace which is our abundant supply through Jesus Christ.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars "Be Ye Glad" ....... Yes we can be glad!.......2002-04-28

The song "Be Ye Glad" is a song that everyone in this country should listen to. It tells us that even in this world we can be glad we have a God that has taken away our pain and suffering. After 9-11-01, when this country was shook with tragedy this song came to mind. A few lines go..... "When the heart & the soul of a nation lay wounded & cold as a corpse......Be ye glad oh, be ye glad evry debt that you ever had, has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord, be ye glad". We all need to know that wonderful truth.

4 out of 5 stars Intriguing.......2000-04-29

Michael Kelly Blanchard's songs have deeply intriguing words and messages. "Thy True Love" is a passionate offering of God's love for those of us who sometimes feel so far away in our "snowbound winter hearts." This is easily my favorite track. I sometimes felt that family issues - handicapped children, marital strife, and child abuse - were presented in a somewhat simplistic manner, and that musical phrasing was sometimes a bit weak. His voice, however is pleasant to listen to and I think his style is especially strong in upbeat songs like "Top of the Morning" or "Lord of the Living."

I enjoy this CD. It's depth is its strength and its music is pleasant.
