About the Artist
Austrian born Klaudia Ploderer moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in the mid-1980s to experience first-hand the soulful side of American music. It was there that she met Rico Heard, a Memphis guitarist whose love of earthy rhythms was a perfect complement to Klaudia's unconventional vocal style. The folk/pop duo Klaudia & Rico was born and immediately became one of Memphis'most popular acts.
In 1992 Klaudia returned to Austria where she met drummer Helmut Ploderer. They later married and returned to Memphis in 1993 and formed Klaudia & Rico with The Flying Helmets. Once again, they developed a strong following in the Memphis area. Their sound has a distinctly European flavor and is accessible to an extremely wide audience.
In the summer of 1995 they recorded "At The Same Place Twice In Life," which has been critically acclaimed both for its production and performance, as well its highly-crafted original songs. No secret to anyone who has heard them live, the band is equally as captivating on stage as they are in the studio. In the words of one Memphis publication, they are a 'musical treasure.'
