5 out of 5 stars SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.......2005-07-08

A real treat for lovers of Folk,Folk Rock ,Blues and everything inbetween.Mac MacLeod is the guy who taught Donovan to fingerpick and Donovan passed it on to John Lennon in India. Here we get to hear the musical journey from Folk Blues to the Jimi Hendrix like sounds of Hurdy Gurdy , the acoustic ethnic delights of Amber and not to mention the hidden gem of Argent, the cheeky 'Telescope'.All in all a fascinating musical history unfolds in this Anthology (please note it is an Anthology than spans nearly 40 years not merely an album). The final tracks are from MacLeod's current band and mark another evolution in the sound of Mac MacLeod.
A must for all fans of The Zombies, Argent, Donovan,Bert Jansch ,Wizz Jones,Jimi Hendrix and Davy Graham.

3 out of 5 stars A mixed bag.......2005-05-02

This is a compilation of a number of bands that Mac MacLeod played in. It's inconsistant, but there are some very good moments. The highlight is "Telescope", a wonderful pervy pop song (it's about a peeping tom praising Galileo for the invention of the telescope!) by an early version of Argent that sounds much more like the Zombies than by the arena-rock band that did "Hold Your Head Up". If you're a Zombies fan who also loves Pink Floyd's "Arnold Layne", you need to buy this cd just for "Telescope". According to the liner notes, there are other recordings by this version of Argent. I hope they'll be released soon.
