About the Artist
Mike Golay is a solo acoustic fingerstyle guitarist whose music is informed by Jazz, Celtic, Bluegrass, Rock, Pop, Punk, Folk, Funk, Ska, Hip-hop, Classical and World Music, as well as a lot of other stuff he can't articulate at the moment. He calls what he does "Heavy Folk." It's throb-o-rific.
Product Description
Half Pint is Mike Golay's solo acoustic guitar debut - 12 tunes, all twangin', all the time.
The listener will hear everything from celtic-inspired melodic fingerstyle, to belly-warming slide work, to groove-oriented fingerpicking, to quasi-classical epics, to old/new-school banjo frailing and thwacking, to sonorous, percussive slap-and-moan groaning on the low, lowdown. You'll be taken to, and also: fro.
Half Pint,Mike Golay,Banshee Records,Folk,Folk & Traditional,Mike Golay is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist whose music is an amalgam of many styles. He calls what he does "Heavy Folk." His playing has been compared to that of Pierre Bensusan, Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges. It's throb-o-rific.,Pop

As a youth with a great big voice, Half Pint raised "booyaka" mock-gun salutes from dancehalls the world over with his 1986 anthem, "Greetings." A tough debut to live up to, but the soaring vocals are just as strong in this 1994 collection of previous Jamaica arena hits. Half Pint comes close to his auspicious beginnings with "Freedom Fighter," "Winsome," "Come To Pass," "Don't Try To Use Me," the irresistible "Sally," and even with "Crazy," an unhinged lover's threat. The formidable drum & bass riddim twins Sly and Robbie pitch in to qualify nearly every one the 12 tracks as a timeless dance floor rammer. --Elena Oumano

Excellent!.......2003-07-02
This release is, in my opinion, one of the best he has released. "Mr. Landlord" is a great song as well as the now club favorite, "Greetings". He stops to big-up reggae artists such as Admiral Bailey in "One Big Family" and "Victory" and "Too Late" are also strong tracks. You will not be sorry with this release because there are no filler tracks...all of the songs are worth listening to.
Half Pint.......2001-07-23
Reggae is great music, and half pint is an awesome artist, this is one of his best. Personally i like the tracks Crazy Girl and Substitute lover, just to name some. It's all good...
Loved it, still loving it........2001-07-11
"Greetings" people, this CD is a must have in your collection. If you had the cassette, like I did, it is time to move on up to the CD version. You can get to the next song and enjoy it much faster. Again, a must have.

I love this CD, anyone into reggae will get into Half-Pint
CARRYIN ON BAAAADDDD........1999-05-08
I DID NOT KNOW THAT HALF PINT WAS SUCH AN UNDERRATED ARTIST. THE WHOLE ALBUM IS A MUST. ALL 14 TRACKS ARE INCREDIBLE. FROM THE EVER POPULAR "GREETINGS" TO "ROMEO & JULIET" EVERY TRACK IS WORTHY TO REWIND.

funky fresh.......2004-10-25
nice new fresh sound of music for the radio, heard them live in san francisco and santa barbara. The radio needs something new to play and these guys are it. Very very nice and chill guys in the band and have much love for their fans.
WOW.......2003-10-09
well i can sum up griswalds performance in a matter of 1 word WOW!!! since a few years back when me and my friend happen to stumble upon griswalds OUTSTANDING performance with former singer charlie we fell in love with the music, it was a mix of up beat, hard, yet calm enuf to kick it to and just overall a good influence with such songs as lotus which its main point is no one can ever take away ur most important freedon, thought, or even fun songs liek phoddey wadda, which is mainly bout drinkin a 40, just a group of friends having fun, after we herd they got a new singer me and my friends were skeptical bout the bands performance untill by chance they played down the street frum my friends house and as i walked passed my friends house i heard the classic griswald "COME ON" and froze in my foot steps, we hadnt heard them for over a year then by chance they were right down the street so i stopped and listened and realized it was just sumone with a loud stereo and infact they were playing a live show so i collected all my friends and literally ran over there with sum drunken complications and we got there to hear the last few songs, its a story for the books, well yeah they came back a month or so ago to play sum shows, we got to know the band and they are as much a band as they are real people too they take the time for there fans and are just fun people to hang with, there playin a show on 10/23/03 in chico,CA at the brickworks a loca venue, there opening for zebrahead, if your in the area i advise check them out itll be WELL worth it i gurantee i have yet to find a person to dislike them, many people compare them to sublime, 311, incubus, hoobastank and such very worth the money and time
AWESOME NEW BAND!!.......2003-06-27
This cd rocks! I never take it out of my car! Every song is a good one, you end up just playing the cd over and over.
refreshing change from the radio!.......2003-03-14
these guys are great. saw them live in San Francisco and i'm excited to see they are getting more and more coverage.
such a great change from the same 'ole same 'ole you hear on the radio

Customer Reviews:
Chuck Wagner rocks and is a hidden gem!.......2005-06-02
Chuck Wagner is one of the rare, mostly hidden gems of American musical theater. He was the first Jekyll in Wildhorn's "Jekyll and Hyde" when in first premiered in the 80's in Houston. The same for the world premiere of "Scarlet Pimpernel". Chuck's had a professional career of over 25 years on stage and is fantastic. He has a voice that booms and yet can be subdued enough to make you take notice. He is THAT good! Everyone who has ever heard him, and I mean EVERYONE, has always come away thinking that they have just heard the one person who is better than whoever they thought was the best male Broadway voice of our time.

Fury 66 is a very good band.......2001-06-07
This band has great music and its the best i have heard in while. i still have this cd in my cd player and i listen to it all t he time. This is a great punk band.Alll the songs in here I like and thats what I think about this cd.The singer in this album is excellent. But the other cd is better
a pretty good punk album.......2000-11-30
If you mixed good riddence and pennywise, thats a pretty good description of Fury 66. they have pretty melodic songs, but a bit more aggresive at parts. there are some really good songs on this CD, but on the whole, ive heard the sound so many times before, but by no means bad. if you looking for a good melodic punk band, fury 66 is for you.

Charismatic little Frankie Jaxon was an anomaly in the blues, jazz, and gospel worlds he inhabited. Born in Alabama in 1895 and raised in Kansas City, his feminine voice and outrageous manner established him as a crowd favorite of medicine shows touring the eastern seaboard by age 15. After making a hit in Atlantic City as a female impersonator, he began singing with the day's best jazz bands when they passed through Chicago, working with King Oliver and Freddie Keppard before recording his brilliant legacy with Cow Cow Davenport, Tampa Red and his Hokum Jazz Band, Bennie Moten, and later the Harlem Hamfats, moving from jazz band to show biz to Chicago folk hokum with ease. In this survey spanning the peak years of his career, savor the style and wit of "You Got to Wet It," "Be Your Natural Self," and "You Can't Tell," among other funny and funky gems. --Alan Greenberg
