Do Your Self a Favor.......2006-07-18
Imagine yourself in the car with your screaming kids -- it's a long drive -- and suddenly you pop in a CD that grabs everyone's attention...dad behind the wheel says "Whoa -- what's this?"
Meanwhile, the kids in the back seat stop harrassing each other as the soulful voice and choruses of Rebecca Frezza and her band command everyone's attention. Simply put, this album rocks -- this is Pearl Jam meets Crowded House meets Lisa Loeb for kids. Forget the Wiggles and Laurie Berkner, you and your kids will find yourself playing this CD again and again. Frezza finds and defines an underserved market -- kids too old for corny sounding blah blah nursery ryhme sounding retreads and comes up with something rocky, poppy and fun. The songs are tight, smart and fun. Her band rocks! This is a total mood changer!! There's no shame here when parents find an excuse to play this album again. We first heard about Rebecca on XM Satellite and we are now the happy owners of both Road Trip and Music in My Heart. We then caught her on Jack's Big Music House on Noggin. And now there's her new CD, Tall and Small, which we picked up at a local gig here in New Jersey. Frezza is the next "Big Thing" in kids rock -- she is an undiscovered talent that is worth getting to know now.
love it.......2005-05-14

Great CD!!!.......2004-03-04
My 2 1/2 year loves it!!! (and so do my husband and I). We can listen to this in the car for hours. Rebecca's voice is beautiful and the lyrics are really fun.
"Road Trip" is One to Share.......2004-03-02
Great CD. Kid's music that deserves a Grammy. My kids love it and I love playing it for them. Great sound and lyrics for children and parents of all ages.
A Road Trip well worth taking.......2003-11-24
On her latest CD, "Road Trip," Rebecca Frezza and her band, Big Truck, continue to accomplish their goal of creating children's music that adults can also enjoy. From a musical center of acoustic rock her style is colored by jazz ("B3"), gospel ("Rock My Baby"), soul ("Dance With Me") folk and country. I heard the influences of a variety of artists from the B52s, to the Doobie Brothers to Earth Wind and Fire to name just a few. Frezza's voice is clear, strong and expressive and she makes great use of harmonies from her talented back up singers throughout the CD. She wisely broadens her authors' pallet by sharing the writing credits with guitarist Elisa Verano and producer Chris Putnam. Among my favorite tracks are the rocking "Babysitter," the silly "Space Dog" and the sweet and pretty "Movie In My Pillow." The instrumentation on this CD strikes just the right balance of adding interesting touches here and there (saxophone, strings, and very sparingly, kids chorus) without ever getting in the way of keeping the songs front and center.
This is one to add to your shopping cart. The high quality and diversity will keep the parents interested and the fun songs will keep the kids asking to play it again.

Album Details
The Trip Two is the Follow Up to Tom Middleton's Widely Acclaimed 2004 Release the Trip. With a Healthy Disregard for Genre and his Unique Knack for Finding a Common Thread in Seemingly Disparate Music, the Trip Two Could Equally Be Billed as a Magical Mystery Tour. Across the Two Cds, Tom Takes in Classic Hip-hop (Caveman, Eric B and Rakim), Soul (Freda Payne, Lyn Collins), Alternative Pop (Goldfrapp, Beck), and Prog Rock (Tangerine Dream). In Mr Middleton's Own Words: "The Trip Two is a Vertical and a Horizontal Selection of Lifetracks for the Itunes Generation. There's No Shortage of Nuggets to Blend, It's all About the Criteria You Use to Select and Filter. These Days for Me It's About Purity of Emotional Content; Memorable Melodies Be They Sung Or Played with Strong Rhythmic Backbones. I'm Not Really Concerned with the Latest Trends in Sonic Style, Only Timeless Tunes from the Present and Recent Past that Just Simply Need to Be Heard and Shared"

Customer Reviews:
Spared from the mix CD dumpster..........2006-05-10
I wonder how many dumpsters could be filled with crappy compilation "mix CDs." It truly boggles the mind...
Thankfully, noted DJ, producer, and disco/house-savant Joey Negro (a.k.a. Dave Lee, Jakatta, and lots of other things) seems determined to offer up something more than just a pair of overpriced aluminum coasters with his eclectic two-CD journey The Trip...
Things get off to an atmospheric start with some John Barry 007 soundtrack music, followed by Nancy Wilson's ass-shaking rendition of "Call Me," Laurie Johnson's irresistible theme to The Avengers (a.k.a. "The Shake"), and the criminally catchy "National Express" by The Divine Comedy in rapid succession -- three tunes I guarantee you won't be able to get out of your head for weeks.
Next thing you know, Joey dips into the "Where are they now?" file with "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross -- something you probably thought you would never want to hear again, but now it sounds like a pretty good song for some reason. You'll also hear the Dave Lee production "You're Not Alone" morph into its source material, the pre-techno soundtrack masterpiece "The Chase" by Georgio Moroder.
Then, at least for me, things start to get a little too 1980s and tedious... the plodding 4/4 beats, cheesy synths, and cheesier vocals start to wear a little thin, but if you're a big fan of the Pet Shop Boys, Jan Hammer, and/or the B-52s, you will probably disagree with me.
The second CD begins in a tranquil mood with the all too brief Dave Lee/Jakatta original "Inside Life," but the party resumes in short order, this time in more of a funky 1970s groove with the likes of the Isley Brothers, Kool and the Gang, the Dells, and disco-era Sergio Mendes. Several lesser-known goodies are sprinkled throughout as well, including the provocative "Do You Have Any (Do Ya Know Where I Can Get Some)" by La Pamplemousse and the killer string section riffs of "Strung Out" by Gordon Staples. And yes, Virginia, there is a Jethro Tull track...
The Trip comes to a mellow, classy conclusion with Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade," followed by the return of "Inside Life" and the sound of traffic fading into the distance.
While the tracks have been tastefully "mixed" into each other, I get the impression that we're usually hearing the complete songs rather than heavily edited snippets (most are between three and five minutes long.)
Overall, Joey Negro's The Trip is like a 120 minute mix tape from your hippest buddy, eager to impress and amaze you with his favorite obscurities, early influences, and guilty pleasures. You may want to fast forward past a few things along the way, but there are enough pleasant surprises and nostalgic amusements to make for an enjoyable ride.
Short of making your own mix CDs, this is about as good as they come -- so The Trip is hereby spared from the dumpster!

Customer Reviews:
A cD for the whole family!.......2003-05-03
"This is the ideal album for the family!!!! I did not think this could exist- an album that my kids love and that I love! Rebecca's lyrics are catchy and simple enough for my kids to understand, (and for me to sing throughout the day) and while the images are positive and encourage the same kind of thought I, as a mother, encourage, she never gets preachy. The morals are there, but the music, the fun of listening and dancing and singing along with great music, that comes first. Each song has it's own musical style, as well as it's own story. The music is mature and complex enough to keep my ears tuned, yet not too complicated for the ears of my 2 and 3 year old. My 22 month old, Michael, sings 'rolling, rolling, rolling, big truck!' He asks for Rebecca by name, and without fail, every day! And Steven, my 3 year old, gets the CD out by himself and puts it in the CD player. 'I want to hear about the monster in the little boy's room. I know, it is just in his imagination......no mommy, start from the beginning of the CD, I want to hear all of it! OK, let's dance, mommy.' I am looking forward to Rebecca's next album, in the meantime, I recommend this album highly. Thankyou, Rebecca, for Big Truck Music- continue!!!!!!!"
Great CD for kids and their parents.......2003-04-09
Music in my Heart is my 2 year old daughter's favorite CD. It's the first CD she actually sang along to! The whole CD, but particularly Bubblebath Blues, is our bathtime soundtrack. On any given night you are likely to hear in our house "o.k., we'll listen to Bubblebath Blues one more time, then it's time to get out of the bath." This CD is so much fun for kids and adults alike.
Big Truck Delivers!.......2002-09-24
Rebecca Frezza's melodious voice, child and adult friendly lyrics, and sophisticated instrumentals make this CD a hit for kids and grown-ups alike. I can't stop playing this CD - you and your kids will be humming the "Bubble Bath Blues" long after the CD has stopped playing. "Music in My Heart" makes a great gift for kids of all ages!

Sophisticated percussive collection with amazing sampling.......1999-02-17
Every track is a winner but I was especially impressed with Seratious Mycysin (??? track 2-3) "After I few minutes the soldier found it impossible to obey orders and chaos followed." What was the purpose of these experiments? How do I sign up as a subject?
Lot of the songs could have been used for the theme to the X-Files - did Reflection just tape a few theme songs from the telly? No matter, it's still an interesting, eminantly listenable collection of sounds.

My reviews never come up on here. WHY?!!
Well, I might be wrong. But I should get to the point.
This CD isn't is a piece of cake is good off of here. Alot of the songs are very Fatboy Slim style but Fresh still has his own sounds, like most DJs do.
