Somewhere between John Prine and the Roches, you'll find the Sons, pulling folk music into the next century...

Product Description
With Consequence of Speech, Sue Demel, Bruce Roper and Nancy Walker, created a recording as innovative and exciting as their live performance. Sons' soaring harmonies and witty, whimsical original songs earned them a national cult following.

Consequence of Speech, recorded by Victor Sanders at Lakeside Media in Chicago, was mixed and mastered by Blaise Barton at Acme Studios in Chicago. Contributing musicians include: Larry Clyman (former Big Shoulders and Otters lead guitarist), who produced several tracks; Corky Siegel, piano and harmonica; Don Stiernberg, mandolin; Marc Edelstein, bass; Catherine Kuna, cello; Michael Miles, banjo; the Kairos Quartet; Dan Hesler and Rich Lapka, horns; Bob Egan (of Wilco), pedal steel; Mark Cameron and Heath Cameron percussion; and others.

Raised on rock 'n' roll in Iowa, Nancy Walker was singing professionally in a road band just out of high school and has stayed active in music all her adult life. Sue Demel, native of Addison, Illinois, was schooled in jazz and the visual arts, combining scat singing with yodelling in a unique vocal style. Bruce Roper, traditional folk and Beatles devotee, moved to Chicago from Bloomington, Illinois, several years ago.

And seeing the band live is something you don't want to miss.

5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.......2002-01-16

I saw Sons of the Never Wrong perform in the Masthouse in my little town of Woodstock. They are amazing and vert talented musicains as well as wonderful people. I own Consequence of Speech and One it By Hand. I recommend getting both cds, but I love this one just because of the Girl Shanty song by Sue, she has an amazing voice. If you ever get the chance to see them live I highly recommend it, there performance was absoulutely magical and I will never forget it.

5 out of 5 stars Unqualified Recommendation.......2000-09-13

There isn't anyone out there today doing acoustic/folk music that's more clever, enjoyable, moving, and delightful than "Sons." Their live shows are even better than the recordings.

4 out of 5 stars props.......2000-09-06

I have to give definite props to this group. I don't necessarily dislike folk music but I've always chosen to avoid it. It was never something that struck me. This CD changed my mind completly - I'm hooked. The lyrics are so beautiful and meaningful that every song seems like it's just bursting with emotion and energy. One of the two CDs I can listen to in truely any mood and still enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorite folk albums........2000-07-18

you are LUCKY if you discover sons of the never wrong. there are few enjoyments in life that are better! this CD is excellent: one of those albums that you play over and over again for years and never get sick of....from the heart-breakingly beautiful "in your dreams" to the exuberant "sun song" to the empowering and joyful "girl shanty"....this is one of the best folk albums ever made, and i am a HUGE folk fan. and if you ever get a chance to see Sons live, jump at it! you will walk away smiling, i promise!
