Customer Reviews:
Great blend of Music.......2004-08-09
I came upon this CD when i met John McGann at at summer camp where he was teaching. Even though I'd never really heard much of this kind of music, i bought it anyway and i was suprised. It's just exellent. He blends mandolin, guitar, violin and several other insruments i believe. My favorite tracks are Honeybee, sligo lament, and Canyon Moonrise, although every track is brilliant. I look forward to more records and seeing him again.
Beautiful acoustic music, lively yet soothing.......1998-07-10
I first heard McGann music as part of the cd Dance of the Celts. He had three tracks there and they were so good that I looked for a solo work, found Upslide and bought it on the spot! It more than satisfied my expectations. In fact, I was now searching the site to see if there were more solo works from him. I believe he can play anything that has strings on it, be guitar, mandolin etc beautifully. It is the kind of music you can listen to while working, only problem is some tracks make you want to get up and dance ;). It is not necessary to be a fan of Celtic music to love it, since it is a mix of celtic, a touch of blues, country... If you like acoustic music this is for you! I hope he makes a new record very soon.
