Good songs but not worth the purchase.......2003-08-02

There is the new song Loose Cannon on this, and a slightly longer version (there is very little difference between the versions, maybe 10 seconds), then a remake of Wardance with a new sound. Dave Grohl plays drums on all tracks. However, both Loose Cannon and Wardance appear on the new (American) KJ album, so the purchase of this single seems redundant.

Just a comment on Amazon's editorial review.

The 2003 Killing Joke album is not the first in 20 years at all. That is plain dumb. Studio albums since 1983 have been Night Time, Brighter Than 1000 Suns, Outside The Gate, Extremities, Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions, Pandemonium and Democracy.

Almost normal, but not very........2000-12-06

Tim Berne (alto and baritone sax), Michael Formanek (bass), and Jeff Hirshfield (drums) put together a scrappy improv band to play some enduring songs. Formanek's song "Fool's Paradise" was reworked under the title of "Paradise Revisited" on Formanek's "Low Profile" CD. Two of the Berne compositions, "Broken" and "Lowball" were combined under the name "Bro'ball" and played by Berne's group Bloodcount (also with Formanek) on the "Unwound" CD. Another Berne composition, "The 12 1/2 % Solution", wound up on the Big Satan CD. Obviously there is some choice material here since the artists keep coming back to reinterpret it. Less frantic than the Bloodcount material, more percussive than the Berne/Formanek duo, "Loose Cannon" is a solid addition to any not-quite-avant-garde-but-definately-modern jazz collection.
