Editorial Reviews
Arthur Jefferson, San Francisco Art Magazine, November 7, 2001
To call Ledoux a storyteller is to understate her skills. She is an artist creating exquisite imagery through song.

Product Description
Reminiscent of Dar Williams, Christene has created a musical tapestry of American life. With each song, Christene takes us on a emotional journey, introducing us to the characters she has met in her travels throughout the United States. Martha, an older woman, traveling alone on the public transportation system in San Francisco, trying to get to the ocean to set her husbands ashes free...On "Sweet Patty", we are endeared to the little girl, an orphan who will never know what the letter her mother wrote to her said... Not only does Christene have a gift for telling the stories of those that might have otherwise gone untold, her voice is pure and sincere with melodies you will find yourself humming to long after you've turned it off. If you enjoy the music of Dar Williams, Nancy Griffith, Patty Griffin, Eva Cassidy, Susan Vega, Sarah McLachlan & Shawn Colvin, this belongs in your collection!

        5 out of 5 stars Superb!.......2003-04-06

This CD is by far the best I've heard in a long time. Christene's sincere voice and words shine. She reminds me of Nanci Griffith a lot. Some of the production is sparse, only with Christene and her guitar but it all fits together nicely. My favorite right now is "The words I can't get out". Little Lighthouse has not left my CD player since I bought it in January. It really is that good. It is very much a unique project and I mean that in the best possible way. Christene creates a sound that others will soon be compared to.

        5 out of 5 stars Truly beautiful.......2003-03-01

The storytelling and emotions portrayed are Christene's true talent. She has traveled far and has had a lifetime of experiences and it shows in her lyrics.

        5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2003-02-14

I first saw Christene in Visalia, CA, in a Borders bookstore while shopping for a studyguide, and she was singing "I wanna" and the words just really called my attention, so i stopped in to listen, she really does have an amazing voice, i really recommend that everyone get this cd. unlike mainstream music nowadays, Christene is a master storyteller, her songs tell a heartfelt story.

        5 out of 5 stars Going far!!.......2003-01-26

I first saw Christine performing in San Francisco on Fisherman's Wharf. I bought her 5 song cd then and was not only mesmerized by her live performance but the demo was beautiful! I have since bought Little Lighthouse, her full cd. Christene not only has the voice of an angel but she is a natural storyteller. Her songs are like mini novels. She is incredibly sweet and while my family and I were listening to her, she sang a special song to my 4 year old daughter.
I highly recommend this cd and anything Christine puts out.

4 out of 5 stars Well worth the wait..........2003-01-22

"Little Lighthouse" has been a while in the making, and well worth the wait. Christene's music features simple melodies over standard chord patterns, but her genius comes through in her lyrics. Her songs are multi-layered mini-dramas, lushly crafted, and populated by real and sometimes quirky characters. Her themes are both common and off-beat, but always poignantly presented from a personal point of view. Only Christene can put you in the seat next to her on the #38 MUNI bus as she converses with the old woman travelling to Ocean Beach to scatter her husband's ashes ("Bus to the Ocean").

"Little Lighthouse" has excellent production qualities for an independently produced CD, and the mix captures the warmth of the small café venues where Christene often performs. Close your eyes, and it's easy to imagine yourself at the Skylight on Taraval or the Bazaar on Clement. If you like your songs to tell stories, you'll like Christene LeDoux and her music.
