The Washington Post
"Petteway's guitar and White's piano twist and climb with a sharp deep playfulness through essentially bittersweet territory... I felt as if I had been escorted over the hard edge by angels."

The velvet and the deep that guitars can be.......2005-09-13
I'm a first listening of Al and Amy's music and the deep of their performance take to the place where they imagine to take you. The way they play the Olson guitar , give the deepness and the high end of this instrument . I recomend this album , and you will enjoy the string and of course the sweet and softness of Amy ' s voice
congratulation

A Collaboration of Excellence.......2000-05-20
Racing Hearts is a wonderful listening experience. Al & Amy are multi-instrumentalists who demonstrate their vast talents on every tune. From soulful moods to funky up-tempo pieces, each tune is a gem. Al's guitar is impeccable, and Amy's vocals are superb. I have all their solo CDs & have had the great pleasure of seeing them in concert. Get the CD (and their solo CDs) to tide you over until they do a show in your area!
A musical feast to your ears - enjoy!.......2000-02-26
Prepare to catch your breath! The 'Racing Hearts' CD is the perfect blending of the loving hearts and superb musicianship of two who have again proven they can do it together perfectly. I can honestly say I love this CD. While the approach carries the distinct sound and quality of Al Petteway's fine Celtic fingerstyle guitar playing, it highlights Amy White's excellent multi-instrumental playing and talented vocals much of the time. This album has a subtle connecting theme running through it. The songs are like a great feast with many musical dishes it serves, each track is tasty and deliciously satisfying. A&A have added the right amount of ingredients. Take a bite and enjoy an unforgettable experience. The album with it's packaging, liner notes, photos, etc., all form a musical/art treasure. The 'duo' here is not that famous (yet!), but this album is solid proof that they should be. This is first rate music from two who deserve a much larger listenership. Some selections exhibit fire, then others bring in calming quieter moments; always beautiful, imaginative, dreamy, never disappointing. This album reveals to us the hearts of these two musical lovers racing toward true musical brilliance and distinction. I think they already won the race!
Great listening.......2000-02-14
This is a great CD! I have played it constantly since getting it. These duets are very tight - there is a natural and well-balanced relationship between the instruments, and the writing is very good. I have an extensive collection of acoustic instrumental music, and this one fits right in with the best that Windham Hill and Narada have to offer.
Great Music.......1999-12-04
Al Petteway and Amy White are well recognized and thought of musicians in the Washington, D.C. area, and with this album their talent should make them household words internationally not only among those who follow Celtic/folk/jazz acoustic music, but for those who simply like good music. The songs on this CD, whether they were written by the two, or simply arranged by them are uniformly good. They are masters of their instruments. But what really sets them apart is the considerable feeling they put into their music. You can teach technique, but you can't teach heart and soul, which is clearly on display throughout the CD. From "Morrison's" to the title cut, "Racing Hearts", to the beautiful vocals on "Polly Von", this CD has it all. While all of Al's and Amy's CDs are good, this first complete CD collaboration is exceptional. Al and Amy are among the best.
