Customer Reviews:
Having A Wonderful Time.......2006-01-01
I am biased; I'll admit it from the start.
I have been looking for this album on CD for literally years.
I found it in a cutout bin, in vinyl, in the early 80's.
The very first song, "Livin' In the Sunlight" is absolutely, without a question, one of my all time favorite songs. I've never heard a more positive, upbeat song. Geoff will be singing at my funeral -- that's how much I like the song.
$45? Yeah, sorry, I'll pay it. Because I MUST have the first song on this CD.
In my opinion, it really is THAT good.
really great old record, but $44.99?.......2005-03-24
I have to admit, it's been a few years since I've heard this. Ex-wife got the vinyl and I got the 8-track! Been looking hard for it, it's a great record I'll never forget, but YIKES! $45?! Standout cuts are Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You, 99 and 1/2 Won't Do and Living in the Sunlight, which is a beautifully performed but campy bit of '30s fun. There's one overly long and somewhat self-indulgent piece, the name of which escapes me, most of which is beautifully orchestrated but degenerates into some schmaltzy poetry, as I recall. But then I left it off the 8-track and my memory ain't what it used to be. On balance, this is a classic obscure early-70s gem that I'd love to have. It runs the gamut from achingly beautiful through desperately sad to hilarious. It's big band, it's jug band and it's no-band. When I win the lottery, I'll order this from Japan! You should too!
