Wait for the album.......2004-04-13

This is good music, but it was available for free before the band got signed. this is just a way for hopeless records to make a few bucks before the album comes out in june, so just hold out, if you have the willpower.

I'm writing this mainly so the review below won't be on top. this is good music. if you're anxious to listne to this great band it's a good buy, but the music was available for free before they were signed, and this is just a way for hopeless records to make a little money before the album is released. wait the 3 months if you can.

THIS SUCKS!.......2003-12-26

Ok first of all I am open to many types of music and this is by far not good material. Second of all there is another band named Melee that makes these punk rock kids look like idiots. I came on here looking for the Melee cd, but not this Melee. I would give the name Melee to the better band of the 2, and that is not this band. I could seriously fart in a jar and open it and it would be more entertaining than this band / cd / everything they write. I didn't even want to give this band 1 star but I had to to post this message.

A Simple Review.......2003-08-11

This CD is awesome, When i first bought it at Warped i didnt listen to it for a while and then my friend made me listen to it one day and i've been addicted ever since. The singers' (chris) sound reminds me alot of Mark McGrath (sugar ray) and the songs are just addicting. I hope to see them perform live soon, and I cant wait to hear more from the band.

This CD is AWSOME and I recommend it to anybody! Anyone who likes any kind of music would love this CD since the songs have an element of pop, rock, punk, and funk! MELEE puts on a great live performance too! I can't wait till they come out with their full length CD!

Incredible talent........2004-04-28

This artist, Davis Gaines, is truly amazing. His rendition of "Ol'Man River" brings goosebumps and tears to my eyes, that's how pure and effortless his voice is! One of my favorite CD's. I'm glad you can't wear a CD out!

Davis Gaines has such a beautiful voice. I really like all of the songs that he sings on this album. It's a lovely album! I would give it ten stars if I could.

Why isn't Davis Gaines a Superstar?.......2001-11-18

Davis Gaines is NOT a household name! But he should be!! This is one of the greatest voices to ever grace the Broadway Stage, plus he's got the looks and the personality to back it up!! I will never forget the first time I ever heard him sing...Phantom of the Opera at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. That big booming baritone voice filled the entire theatre...it just took your breath away! (Davis Gaines was the longest running, and many consider the greatest, Phantom of them all.) And, Against the Tide, his first CD does not let you down. Just sit back, get comfortable and let this beautiful voice take you to places you've never been before. For instance, his version of "Music of the Night" while different than the arrangement used in "Phantom" is fresh and sad and uplifting all at once. I loved it! And, "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now/Tennessee Waltz" is just delightful. Who'd have ever thought these two classic songs could have been interwoven in such a fashion? But, my favorite...the one that will bring tears to your eyes from the sheer beauty of Davis Gaines' voice is "Ol Man River"...it is in a word UNBELIEVABLE!! This man is a treasure, a talent with a voice that only God can give...Get this CD and share the pleasure that fortunate fans of Davis Gaines have been enjoying for years. You'll be happy that you did!

Amazing Vocalist!.......2001-09-29

Davis Gaines demonstrates an immense vocal power, as well as an astonishing delicacy, on this album. Known for his Broadway roles, this talented performer proves here to be a successful solo recording artist. An eclectic mix of songs styles, from Broadway to pop ballads, make this a wildly diverse and amazingly satisfying listen. This CD demonstrates that Gaines is a great singer and we need to hear more from him.
