About the Artist
Red Grammer began his performing career out of college, in the Midwest folk scene, and was chosen as one of the top 5 singer/song writers in Chicago at the Ravinia Festival in 1977.

In 1981, he replaced Glenn Yarbrough as lead singer for the Grammy nominated Folk Trio, the Limliters, and traveled nationally and internationally with the group for 8 years.

In 1983 Red and his wife, Kathy, created their first album for children. Since then Red has produced 4 more multi-award winning children's recrodings. He has appeared on NBC's The Today Show with Katie Couric, The CBS This Morning Show with Mark McKuen, Nickelodeon, as well as his own Disney Channel Concert Special.

In the midst of tremendous success as a performer and writer for children and families, Red found time to share his work for adults resulting in his 1993 release Free Falling. This recording captured the attention of Christine Lavin who featured selections from Free Falling on her 2 compilations, Follow that Road and The Stealth Project-musicundertheradar. Christine calls Red, "My favorite singer. His voice is a magnificent instrument and his songs touch us in the deepest way posssible".

Red again brings his talents as singer/song writer for adults' center stage with his June 2001 release of Soul Man in a Techno World. This powerful new recording showcases Red's amazing vocal gifts and exquisite songwriting talents, reflecting a deep respect for the journey of the human soul and the tests and triumphs that engage us along the way.

The Grammer's live with their two sons, David and Andy, in the Hudson Valley in New York State.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fine collection of philosophical songs for adults..........2001-12-16

Red aims this latest collection at the adults who buy his other products for their children. Most of these songs are spiritual in theme, but performed in a variety of tempos. The new, original songs capture a mature kind of religous viewpoint, complex, optimistic but not sappy, serious but not dirge-like. If you care about why you are here, where you might go next, and how to figure out the best way to live so you go to somewhere decent after this world, you will like this. If you liked his other adult album, "Free Falling", which was more about human love than divine affection, you should also enjoy "Soul Man in a Techno World." As usual, Red's vocals are fine, if you like tenors, and his arrangements and accompaniment are hard to fault. The guy knows how to make music...but on this CD, it is music to help you think, and feel part of the cosmos, and act rightly. This is a serious man, with deeply-held if somewhat unconventional beliefs, who normally makes his living creating fun stuff that helps little kids get over their fear of singing or any idea that music is dull or for sissies. This time out, he aims for the part of grownups that seeks connection with its creator. I like it a lot.
