Trent Reznor has always been a one-trick-pony, but it's a damn good trick: sunny melodies filtered through ferocious electronics. Unfortunately, the trick's impact was often watered down by a tendency toward petulance and self-absorption. Still, almost six years after NIN's last release, The Fragile, the trick itself has lost none of its Teen-Beat-from-hell appeal. With Teeth blisters from the start with "All the Love in the World," and tracks like "The Collector" take full advantage of Dave Grohl's sledgehammer drumming. Reznor stretches occasionally, trying out different tactics, from crunchy, overtly commercial rave-ups ("The Hand That Feeds") to borderline New Wave ("Only"). But Teeth isn't about stretching. It's about doing the same trick, only better, with less clutter and more bite. By neatly distilling the sparseness of Pretty Hate Machine with Downward Sprial-style density, it ends up being the most focused record in the NIN catalog. -Matthew Cooke

5 out of 5 stars Listen to the Music as Well as the Lyrics. Great Album........2007-06-28

I waited a long time to write this review for a reason. I wanted to see, because there are so many haters of this album out there, how it stood up to The Fragile, the album prior to it's release, and Year Zero, the album which came out afterwards. It is comparable to both, with The Fragile and Year Zero being my favorite NIN albums of all. I see all these people writing and saying how terrible this album is, that Trent just put something out to sell records because he hadn't put an album out in a long time. That's bush!! The music on this album is awesome. It's as textured at times as The Downward Spiral or The Fragile, or even Year Zero, and at other times as heavy as Broken. Plus the live drumming that Dave Grohl provides on most of the tracks is excellent. And the lyrics are pretty good if you listen to them. Sure, Trent deals with coping with love, anger ,being lonely, and heartache. This is obvious on tracks "All the Love in the World, "Love is not Enough", "Only", and "Sunspots". He also is leading to the political precursor of Year Zero with tracks like "The Hand that Feeds", and "Right Where it Belongs". This is just a message to all of the haters out there that Trent was writing about the things he knew about and the things that were important to him. And if anyone thinks that the music itself is bad, have your hearing tested. Keep up the great work Trent.

1 out of 5 stars Tree Trunk Arms and Cereal Box Philosophy.......2007-06-25

Have mercy!! Please Mr. Reznor stop making these terrible albums before you destroy your legacy. These lyrics sound like they were penned by a fifteen year old kid that just smoked his first doobie. You used to stand for something....what happened? Mr.Reznor who gave you the philosophy 101 textbook? What's coming next the "Question Reality" tour. Anyways, I'm sure all the little kids you're stealing money from are quite impressed by your lame ramblings............................Don't forget your 5 o'clock workout you muscleman

5 out of 5 stars I can't help it........2007-06-24

I realize that there are more than a few people who consider this to be NIN's weakest album, but speaking for myself, I like everything Trent Reznor touches, including his other music projects. I love this album, and I am a huge NIN fan so I suppose that doesn't qaulify my rating as fair. Oh well, just had to give my imput.

4 out of 5 stars A solid 4 stars for NIN.......2007-04-27

With teeth is agood nin cd. Right where it belongs The line begains to blur Sunspots Every day is exactly the same and Love is not enough. are good solid songs Hand that feeds is not juvenile and is a great commetary on the war. what i dont like are Only and Getting smaller i dont like the attitude of Only or the My Shrona riff for getting smaller. With teeth is mostly solid and underrated.

4 out of 5 stars A hitfilled adventure.......2007-04-24

This album was a comeback of sorts. After the amazing, yet poor selling The Fragile, Trent needed a hit. Much like the Velvet Underground did with Loaded, he churned out a lean mean album, chock full of hits. Unfortunately, by doing so, he lost the depth and intelligence of previous albums. While I've listened to this a ton, it's usually more for the singles than for the entire album. As such, your opinion of the album depends on the type of music goer you may be. While some perfer the entire album effect, others are in it solely for the singes. This album is for those who like catchy songs, surrounded by industrial music.

4 out of 5 stars Coming from a person who never heard of NIN until With Teeth........2006-07-14

On my usual trip to Borders, I usually pick up a few comics (usually in subsequent volumes) and a CD (depending on how much I can afford). Well, my decision was either between Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" or Nine Inch Nails' "With Teeth"; it was almost time to leave the store and I was deciding over the two albums until I'd come to a conclusion where I'd buy "With Teeth, so I purchased it (the UK version, for some odd reason, they didn't carry the US version, lucky for me, this version didn't have an "EXPLICIT CONTENT" sticker, so I wouldn't get slapped on the wrist for buying it) I sat down at home popped the CD into the CD player and sat playing my PS2, really not noticing anything. Two days later, in fact, I had to leave on a family trip by car (Northeast Ohio to Ocean City takes 10 hrs minimum), so I took only two CDs (this is when my music taste was quite "premature", so I didn't have what you would consider a CD collection--the albums were With Teeth and typically, American Idiot, an album that EVERY AMERICAN 12 YEAR OLD OWNS) and sat in the car for 10 hours listening to ONLY With Teeth. Why? Being 12 years old, obviously I wasn't able to take in the tracks beside "Hand that Feeds"--taking all of that time listening, I came up with ONLY 5 tracks that I liked--"Hand that Feeds", "You Know What You Are", "The Collector", "Getting Smaller" and I'd occasionally listen to "Home" (which was a B-side to HtF exclusively on the UK version). The rest of the tracks were what I considered "boring"--maybe I was too young to understand the rest, I was too busy watching MTV to even bother with picking up my CD player and listening to With Teeth again.

Now, fast-forward about 11 months, I've gone through the transition of going from Elementary School to Junior High, from going to a school where I had friends to a school where I knew nobody and was rejected, from being social to being isolated to being social, and the list goes on; I guess you could say With Teeth grew on me as I went through more and was able to relate with the music--the lyrics matter more to me now than they did when I was a 12 year old seeking quick and catchy songs.

The first track, "All the Love in the World", isn't really a good song to kick off the album--it's slow and repetitive, though the instrumentals have a darkwave and a Closer-esque sound. "You Know What You Are?" is a sharp contrast from the beginning track, where [....] is said nearly twenty times, the lyrics, meaningless and dull, but the beat is quick which makes up for the lyrical nonsense that sounds like Eminem doing a Slipknot cover. "The Collector" is easily one of my favorite songs on the album, angsty yet perseverant, the bass pounds out as the drummer beats the march beat--the piano drizzles out the last notes as the storm ends. "Hand that Feeds" is once again, a more bass-oriented song, so obviously, it's more "dancy" with the quick pace--though it doesn't compare to the other songs. "Love is not enough" is a bit whiny, but as always, Trent tells it as it is even if it's ugly, much like this track. "Everyday Is Exactly the Same" is the most accessible song on the album, U2-esque? Wow, that's different for industrial-metal. The lyrics describe boredom of boredom, you can love, hate, or keep it the same. "With Teeth" seems to tell the story of a drug that you love (which apparently is a woman), but its 'teeth' kill you and change you--WITH-UH TEETH-UH, was laughable. "Only" is a narcissistic theme song, suitable for today's teenage generation and population that simply repeats "THERE IS NO YOU THERE IS ONLY ME, THERE IS NO [....]ing YOU THERE IS ONLY ME", yet a catchy song. "Getting Smaller" was formerly my favorite song on With Teeth, I used to want nu-metal on it and this was what I wanted, thumbing bass, Trent's merciless yells and lyrics, it all flows quickly through this speed tunnel. "Line Begins To Blur" has a heavier industrial edge than the other songs, repent for sins, yet the sins lead to consequence; the background blares in your ears as Trent's screams of repent drown. "Beside You In Time", a great and ambient song, and you don't know what you're being led into next, a heavy and angry song (like "You Know What You Are) or a more quiet and at rest song such as "Everyday Is Exactly the Same". Eventually we get a more quiet rest to conclusion the album, "Right Where It Belongs", where the main character finds his place, hell or heaven, his place has been found, and the lyrics are brilliant--"What if everything around you isn't quite as it seems, What if all the world around you is an elaborate dream?" speculation of reality. The finally track, and a GREAT finish is "Home", where everything seems to unite once when it is where it belongs--drums pound throughout the song, and Trent sings until it comes to an end.

Key songs:
*The Collector
*Hand that Feeds
*Everyday Is Exactly the Same
*Only
*Getting Smaller
*Beside You In Time
*Right Where It Belongs
*Home

TO PEOPLE WHO ARE/WERE NEW TO NIN, SUCH AS I:
After the first few listens, if you find that this album is not worth listening to, listen alittle more, then put it away for awhile. Pick it up, and listen to it again, you might come to appreciate it more as time goes by. Plus, I highly reccomend buying the imported version of With Teeth that has "Home" on it, you won't be disappointed and you don't know what you're missing.

TO NIN FANS FROM THE PRETTY HATE MACHINE OR DOWNWARD SPIRAL DAYS:
I'm sure you guys won't like this album, there aren't many songs that sound similar to the heavier and angrier earlier albums, and it sounds more like a rock album than an industrial metal album.

5 out of 5 stars NIN - With Teeth - Trent Reznor Always Delivers.......2006-06-13

I have been a Nine inch Nails fan since the very beginning. I can honestly say, that I am never disappointed. I look forward to every release, knowing that it is going to be another powerful installment in the ever changing world of Nine Inch Nails. No matter what the current state of mind, Trent Reznor makes every release powerful and interesting and you can always be sure that he will never sell out, ever. Something most artists, inevitably do at some point. If you purchase a NIN cd, one thing is always certain, it is never going to be some piece of garbage that was thrown together, just to turn out a cd. It is always going to be something Trent Reznor poured his heart and soul into, and is most likely, very proud of. There will always be songs you like more than others. If you happen upon a song you don't particularly care for, give it time, let it soak in, it may be becuase you just don't "get it" at that given time. And if you find that you still don't like it after it has thoroughly soaked in, then press fast forward ! But please, don't go onto Amazon.com, The Spiral or other fan sites, and try to recruit others for your pathetic bashfest. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and, for that matter, to voice it. But, I have never seen a fan base that has such a large number of people who like to whine, cry, and act like Nine Inch Nails owes them something. Music is a form of art. If you don't like the art you are looking at, don't look at it. If you don't like the art you are listening to, don't listen to it, and move on. As for "With Teeth", it ROCKS !!! Thank you Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails !! As always, I'll be patiently awaiting your next release. See you on tour !!!

2 out of 5 stars IT'S ALL IN THE STARS.......2006-05-16

good side:finally a new NIN album, Dave Grohl appears on several songs playing drums, Trent's voice sounds its best
bad side:the entire packaging, the line-up change, lyrical content
standout tracks:all the love in the world; the hand that feeds; every day is exactly the same; right where it belongs

5 out of 5 stars Finaly a CD worth the $$.......2006-04-26

I won't leave a long review but I felt I had to write something in support of this album. As you all know, the millineum brought some pretty bad music with it. The 1990's brought the best music in my life time when alternative hit the scene. I was born in 65.
I don't understand how the junk most stations play even gets on the airwaves. In a world that's pumping out cr@p music. It's good to see an artist giving me hope that the industry isn't totaly going down the toilet.
A quick rundown:
-Best song is #8
-Excellent songs are 1,4,6,9,10,11,12,13
-Song #2 and #5 are still ok
-Songs 3,5,7 are just average.
Overall the album has excellent flow, ie. the hit songs aren't the first on the album.
-Rivals NIN's Downward Spiral. Without a doubt the best or second best NIN album.
I hope NIN will continue. We need to purchase albums like this to show Trent R. that we appreciate his work.
PS. Keep a look out for the new TOOL CD out in a few days. I've heard it(don't ask) and it is their best ever! A must buy.

    4 out of 5 stars Has a bite.......2005-07-08

"With Teeth" is one of those incredibly difficult albums to review -- Trent Reznor's earlier work has become so legendary that his newer work can't hope to get the same response. Especially if he goes in a totally different direction -- in this case, a less electronic, more organic direction.

Sure, it lacks the visceral punch and of albums such as "Pretty Hate Machine," and it doesn't really go anyplace new, musically speaking. But the newest album from Nine Inch Nails has a dark, raw-edged power of its own.

Reznor has always depended, in a way, on pop melodies done in an industrial style, and that sound emerges in songs like the raging, explosive "You Know What You Are?", where he repeatedly shrieks, "Don't you f*cking know what you ARE?" like a banshee with an identity crisis. I know who I am, but what are you?

Dark synth shows up in sputters and thick waves, especially in some of the quieter songs. The closing and opening song are the most prevalent in these, with Reznor singing sadly over nothing but bass and drums, or else over piano and some buzzing synth. But here, the industrial sound seems to have been switched for a more hard-rock vibe -- as Reznor said, it sounds more organic. It sounds almost live. While there is still some thick synth, the sounds that really grab your attention are more hard-rock oriented: Dave Grohl's excellent drumming, and Twiggy's searing basslines.

Is it good? Yes. Is it as good as it could have been. Decidedly not. While it's a pleasant listen, Reznor only dips lightly into new musical styles, hinting at bossa nova in the opener. Most of the time, he quickly returns to what he's already doine before. And the loss of much of the thick, muddy electronica leaves "With Teeth" sounding a bit underdressed.

Fortunately, "With Teeth" retains enough rough, raw energy to be worthy of being called Nine Inch Nails. It can't be denied that the instrumentation is masterful, whether it's the raw basslines, sharp drumming or driving melodies. Grohl deserves special notice for his work here. Reznor sounds like his old tormented self, whether railing about the U.S. government, wistfully murmuring about "all the love in the world," or raging that "Love is NOT ENOUGH!"

No, "With Teeth" is not the best or most innovative thing that Nine Inch Nails has produced. But its dark, rough energy is enough to make it a compelling listen, if taken on its own virtues.

When I found out the CD was coming out, and that the Japanese release had three exlcusive tracks, I immediately ordered the Japanese import instead. The price is really hefty, but in my opinion, the three bonus tracks make the purchase worthwhile; without them, the CD is fairly lackluster.

For me, the first three tracks aren't listenable, and "With Teeth" starts off with "The Hand That Feeds", the first single that everyone should have heard by now either on the radio or the half-dozen movie trailers it has appeared in. "All the Love in the World", "You Know What You Are?" and "The Collector" are all essentially boring songs with Trent repeating key lines over and over and over and over again, backed by funky, obnoxiously loud, and straightforward uninspired guitar tracks respectively.

In fact, other than "Getting Smaller" (which may be the weakest NIN track ever) in the middle, listening from "The Hand That Feeds" straight through is the best way to go. Sunspots/The Line Begins To Blur/Beside You In Time/Right Where it Belongs is a FANTASTIC suite of songs that mesh together very well. "Right Where It Belongs" also segues well into "Home", a slow, electronic song backed with methodic drumming and a neat bass line. "Home" is an excellent song, and could (nay, SHOULD) have replaced one of the first three tracks or Getting Smaller.

"Right Where It Belongs (V2)" is almost an unplugged version of the album version, and the one that NIN seems to be playing on their current live tour. It contrasts with the original, as well as compliments it, and is another great song.

"The Hand That Feeds (Ruff Mix)" is an awesome mix of The Hand That Feeds, and should have been available instead of one of the slew of other remixes we got on the singles. It's a very abrasive mix, and sounds more like a Danny Lohner mix than a Photek mix, and sounds nothing like the other two Photek mixes.

All in all, I give "With Teeth" 2 1/2-3 stars, because there are actual tracks that I just can't stand. The bonus tracks though, they're some real gems, and make the album much stronger.

5 out of 5 stars "False teeth or cavities?" - "Negative.".......2005-11-07

There's so much said about the album, so much that's still to be said, but I want to keep it short here. Owning the album since the Japan release on April 27, 2005, I've been listening to it back and forth, up and down, driving, cycling, walking the roads and streets, and sometimes at home. It's become part of my diet, so to speak, and for me, it would be ***absolutely incomplete without the Japan bonus tracks***, especially "Home". - "I used to know who I was... until you came along" This line recalls in me deeply the memory of meeting my soul mate here, as a matter of personal experience. This may not be valid for everyone, but IMHO "Home" and "Right where it belongs" are complementary, vital tracks on "With Teeth"; without them, some teeth would be missing.

5 out of 5 stars better than the U.S. version.......2005-09-20

Overall, a good CD but the bonus 3 tracks make the album even better. Track 14 Home is a slow but awsome song, awsome vocals. Track 15 Right where it belongs V2. is Trent smooth vocals and a quiet piano. I like it better than the original version. And the last track 16 is a remix for the hand that feeds wich is better than any remixes in the single but not better than the original. Good album I recomended for any NIN fan.

      5 out of 5 stars Trent's still got it........2005-08-03

For all those who say Trent just doesn't have it anymore. I say BAH! This is a great album, in the classic NIN style. I give props to Trent for constantly re-inventing himself and his music.

5 out of 5 stars The Fabric Starts To Tear..........2005-05-30

Nine Inch Nails is not your average rocker... Hell, Trent is not a rocker, he is music god... his life is based on music, and his music is based on his life...

Downward Spiral was heavey coz his life was a peice of **** that time... he hated his life, went to rehab and back...

Now... First of all, TRENT DIDNT TOOK 5 YEARS ON THIS ALBUM!!!! He started on this album on January/Feburary 2004.

Now you may say what happened the last 4 years... well, he ws in rehab, we wanted to fix what was wrong in his life and then he went on fixing what was wrong about the new music in this world today...

Hell, there was a point where Reznor stopped making music and felt dead. But then, he is back and better than ever.

"All The Love In The World" is amazing... It a hymn, its a gospel of Trent Reznor's life and his comeback where he is facing himself.

"You Know What You Are" is heavy, drumming is amazing, harsh, with some amazing piano beats in middle... (NOTE: REZNOR PREFERS PIANO THAN SCREAMING LIKE THOSE OTHER BANDS WILL DO!)

"The Collector" has some groovy basslines, amazing guitaring with reznor appealing "every last one, every last one".....

"The Hand That Feeds" is catchy!!!! and i mean catchy! you listen to it so much that you can't stop listening to it... You listen to it on radio, and TV, on soundtrack of games, and your stereo, everywhere.... amazing choice for a Single. Hell, this song is so controversial that people refer it as appeal to bush for leading the war.. "What if this crusade's a charade, and behind it all there's a price to be paid for the blood on which we dine, justified in the name of the holy and the divine..."

"Love Is Not Enough" has some amazing riffs which can be
comapred to the darker sngs of "Downward Spiral"

"Everyday is Exactly The Same" is like the mass-mix of Frail/Wretched/Fragile... and its an amazing song... one of the three singles... "Everyday is exactly the same, there is no love here and there is no pain..."

"With Teeth" is weird, amazing, lovely, i dunno wat to say... the slow synth is amazing espacially the climax of song... "I cannot go through this again.... i cannot go through this again..."

"Only" has the cool disco look of "Closer" and "Down In it"... it is the next single of the track and yes its F*****N AWESOME!
"There is no you! there is only me!!" Video Directed By David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven)

"Getting Smaller" reveals the power of Dave Grohl's Massive Drumming... this song is what you call rock! awesome guitaring, amazing lyrics... heavy drumming... amazing finish to the song "My world is getting smaller everyday, but that's ok"

"Sunspots" is like a love song with the power of "Into the Void"... a slow chemical u might say...

"LIne Begins To blur" is dark, heavy, with deep lyrics, gives u goosebumps... more like a lyrical heavy version of "Downward Spiral" and "Reptile".... Farbic Starts To Tear...

"Besides You In Time" also known as "OMFG! THAT TEASER SONG!" has beauty in it... it's like a looong tunnel and you are goin it it, the music swirls from one ear to other and back - repeat... and kicks off with cool synth/guitar with reznor saying "We will never die, besides you in time..."

"RIght Where It belong" is sweet, slow, makes u feel like you're walking on road and makes u feel like u r the part of song... its better than "Hurt" which reznor asking that "What if everything around you isnt quite as it seems, what if all the world u used to know is an elaborate dream." lyrics is the beauty of this song... ana amzing way to end the album...

I dunno wat else you want from an album.... but this is the best thing ever to come on this planet...

Long Life Reznor... And Thank You...

(Ohh and Japanese version has 3 bonus tracks which i dont think fits in the album, but they r great... Home is amazing, RIght where it belong v2 is like playing piano while sitting on a battlefield... and hand that feeds remix is .. a remix lol)

5 out of 5 stars Broadside Electric-- The Talent keeps growing!!.......2001-02-07

Well, wow! With Teeth is BE's best effort yet! Already a huge fan of "More Bad News", I was nervous to hear the addition of winds and drums to the lineup but the two new players come through superbly! Joe D'Andrea's drumming achieves that fine balance of skilled playing and an instinct to lay low when need be! Amy Ksir offers an amazing flurry of whistles, clarinets, as well as vocals. While other reviews tend to offer her vocals as a weak point, I find them to be both deep and honest. In fact her lovely voice has a lot of character and shines on "three pounds ten". The three originals excel as well; Jim playing the mysterious Chapman stick to perfection, Tom adding elegant vocals to fine string playing, and Helen finding all the right notes on the violin and fiddle. Also, let it be said the Bob Dylan cover "Masters of War" blows away the Pearl Jam version as well as the original ( sorry bob! ) The addition of the hyped-up Julia Delany blends in quite well with the Dylan tune. Overall this is a great CD and something every music lover should have in their collection. The band is also good with responding to emails and seem fun and friendly. Buy this only is you like good music!

4 out of 5 stars Broadside Electric delivers an electric broadside!.......2000-05-03

"With Teeth" is truly a tour de force for Broadside Electric's current, five-member lineup. Principal lead singer Tom Rhoads has never sounded better, sort of like Oscar Brand after a regimen of vocal aerobics, and the other male voices provide strong support. The band's instrumental versatility is superb, as usual. If there's any weakness, it's in Broadside's most prominent female voice, Amy Ksir -- she's admirably tasteful and a very astute overall musician, but her physical instrument isn't yet quite up to the up-front role her featured vocals put it in. Former member Melissa Demian hints at what a more assured female singer could bring to Broadside's pumped-up sound with a positively soaring turn responding to Rhoads on "The Gardner" -- I hope Ms. Ksir has listened to and aspires to Ms. Demian's power and clarity. All in all, though, this is a minor complaint about a CD that is as good as any I've heard from an electrified American band in the "trad" genre -- buy it now!

5 out of 5 stars Their Best Work to Date.......2000-01-08

Finally, after 2 years of playing live with this lineup, we have a full length CD from Broadside Electric with the drums, and the full woodwind and string arrangements that they have live. My favourite track is the epic whaling tale "Three Pounds Ten" which sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it (as it would to anyone who has worked out on the high seas).

If you are into the elcetric/celtic/european folk type music, and you wnat to find out why BE packs venues all up and down the east coast, this would be the album to start your collection with, in my opinion.

        3 out of 5 stars Rather disappointing.......1999-12-30

I've been a BE fan for a while now, and I'm sorry to say that "With Teeth" wasn't as good as I would have hoped. Their tune selection, as always, is excellent, but various tracks seemed badly mixed so you could hardly hear the vocals, and I'm not particularly fond of the new female vocalist's voice. The drums are an interesting addition, but I don't think they really add anything to the mix. So I would suggest buying all their other CDs, starting with "More Bad News", and only picking up this one to round out your collection.

5 out of 5 stars This music is very cool.......1999-10-30

I went to see Broadside Electric live and they were very good. I knew that I would like them because I really like that type of music, but they were excellent so I bought a cd.

        Album Description

International pressing of their 2005 album features one bonus track, 'Home'. Five years is a long time by most people's standards, but when such a period passes between albums by Nine Inch Nails, the turbulent electro-noir behemoth conducted by Trent Reznor, it's par for an increasingly elaborate course. With Teeth follows a period of intense self-investigation, a psychological shelf-clearing. It's an album that startles with its clarity, with its renewed vigour. A catalogue of grievances perhaps, like all his records, but possessed with more of a will to fight back than any other Nine Inch Nails release to date. Interscope. 2005.

        Album Details

Trent Reznor and Company Return in 2005 with the Follow Up to 1999's "The Fragile". Fans Will Not Be Disappointed with the Sound of the Album that Has all the Hallmarks of their Previous Work, Just Back with a Renewed Fury. This Version Includes the Bonus Track "Home" which is Not Available on the USA Edition.

4 out of 5 stars Play, skip, skip, skip, skip, play, skip, play, play, play, play, skip, play, play........2005-07-17

As with any new release by an artist I'm a fan of, it can take a few sessions to get over the initial strange, yet familiar sounds, and appreciate something new. With this release, I didn't find the first hook until "Only" (8). From here on in, the album seems to find it's feet, and I usually start playing the album from here, then let it cycle back to track 1 and continue through.

"Getting Smaller" (9) would normally not be in my musical taste gamut, but I always tend to nudge the volume control up for this track. I blame the rocking guitar riff, and taut beats.

"Sunspots" (10) tricks me every time. My immediate instinct when hearing the languid start is to skip, but then I remember that as soon as the intro is over, this is a very strong track.

"The Line Begins to Blur" (11) serves as a filler track for me. For some reason I can't get excited by this, even though there are some solid chord progressions and a melody that sounds like it should work, the overall package of the track lets it down slightly.

"Beside You In Time" (12) starts off by building up to something. There is anticipation there for a great climax, and half way through irritation creeps in. Another two minutes of building, then the track finishes without this resolution. If music is like sex to you, you'll need a cold shower after this one.

"Home" (14 - the bonus track on this release) sounds like it should be part of the album proper, and in fact, on the vinyl release, it is. A strong finishing track, and those without this bonus have missed out.

"All The Love in the World" (1) is an ideal opener and sets the scene for the rest of the album well.

"You Know What You Are" (2) is a little too noisy for me. Maybe I just like my "industrial rock" a little lighter...

The first single "The Hand That Feeds" (4) is probably the most commercial track on the album, so it's easy to see why it was released first. I have to say that my first listen (before the album) disappointed me a bit, but I'm growing to like it the more I listen to it.

"Every Day Is Exactly The Same" (6) is probably the best track from the first half of the album, with the chorus and climax being classic NIN.

The title track "With Teeth" (7) is not a bad track, and serves well as a bridge between the two halves.

The album certainly evokes memories of earlier albums, but I feel that it's not too derivative and is more a variation on Trent's signature. I think the thing that is missing here is Charlie Clouser. Clouser's skill at creating complex, layered, but not overbearing soundscapes is what makes previous albums seem superior. There are always tracks that appeal more than others, but I think it's Clouser's absence that makes this a 4 star album.

I can't wait until the remix album is released.

I have been listening to NIN for a very long time...the better part of 13 years...Each record is a new journey...current and coinciding with Trent Reznor's life...I think he has shown his growth with this record...and also his ability to bite back harder than he himself was bitten...I like each record for many different reasons...This one because it is raw and real...5 stars!
