Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Well-worn copies of this 1965 Elektra album have repeatedly changed hands among '60s folk fans, because it's one of the era's (and the label's) lost treasures...in fact, producer Paul Rothcild calls it "the most beautiful Renaissance ballad record I ever heard...Joan Baez times two." Kathy Larisch and Carol McComb's flawless harmonies will ring in your head long after this disc stops playing; their fragile beauty lends the bittersweet fare an almost bell-like purity. Includes 'Sprig of Thyme; George Collins; The Blacksmith; Fair Beauty Bright; Green Rocky Road; The Grey Cock; Wondrous Love; Carter's Blues; Lady Maisry; Brightest and Best; Gold Watch and Child', and 'Just a Hand to Hold'. This exclusive 'Collectors' Choice Music' reissue includes notes by Richie Unterberger featuring quotes from Carol McComb!

- Finding a Great Relationship
Album Description
Finding a great relationship helps us work through to the space within where our knowledge of the right person for us is hidden. Often we're unaware of and unable to feel what we really need from a relationship. In this CD we learn to discover the truth about our own heart and, like a magnet, draw to us the perfect, best relationship and its healthiest reward.
Customer Reviews:
More benefits than a relationship.......2007-06-27
I have used many meditation tapes and this one is worth the money. It covers issues interfering with having a relationship. I can tell during the day by how I deal with things that the cd is helping me and my self talk.
Self-knowledge Then Find A Partner.......2006-11-10
This CD helped me to realize that before I could attract the right partner for me I had to discover what was getting in the way. The CD also helped me to focus in on what I needed to work on in order to prepare myself for the type of relationship I was looking for. I recommend this CD for self-discovery as well as for finding the right partner.x
Wonderful :).......2006-06-20
I love Kathy Freston's CD's. I have four of them. All of them have been very effective. When I first started working with this CD, I met a man I dated briefly. He didn't turn into a long-term partner, but getting to know him changed my life dramatically in the most awesome way. A month and a half after that relationship ended. I met my fiance, who is wonderful! We have a really healthy relationship. I, my family, and my friends love him!
Kathy's meditations are energizing to me, which I've never experienced in meditation before, but I love it!
Good Relaxing CD for Meditation.......2005-09-04
This CD is very relaxing to listen to. Kathy's voice is soothing, and her directions for starting and going thru the meditation are very clear and exact.
Learning to slow down in the race for love! .......2005-03-26
After a series of unsatisfying and pretty unhealthy relationships, I decided to start a course in healing! I've been nurturing myself instead of turning to a quick fix - like a bad relationship. I realized I didn't even know what I really wanted in a partner, and deep down I was scared of intimacy. This CD has really helped me slow down, honor my spirit, and define love for myself. The meditation is only 20 minutes, and it's easy to listen to it just before I head off to sleep. I am now developing some healthy friendship with men, and taking time to let love grow naturally. I also highly recommend Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life, for work on love, relationships, family, health, addictions and the power of affirmations.

- Transformation Meditation: Perfect Weight
Album Description
Perfect Weight is about having the body we have always wanted. Beginning within, we set up the future of our physical self by aligning our thoughts and feelings toward specific goals. We visualize ourselves in this way, strengthening our confidence and love for our very own flesh and bone. Out of this, a truly transformational weight loss (or gain) miracle can occur.
Customer Reviews:
Not Your Average Weight Loss CD! .......2005-04-04
The first time I listened to this meditation I could feel the weight leave me - except it wasn't physical pounds, but an emotional heaviness. The author asks you to find the place inside of your self that doesn't feel worthy of perfect health and love. Wow! It blew me away because many other "weight loss" meditation CDs focus on mental conditioning ... like you're going to train yourself to love asparagus. But this CD asked me to examine the emotional reasons why I am not at my perfect weight. Why don't I inhabit the body I would be most comfortable in right now? When I really started to think about it - it actually made me cry .... because I realized, there's a part of me hanging onto this weight! There's a part of me that feels very unworthy ... and the physical manifestation of this unhappiness is excess weight. Needless to say, this CD has really helped transform how I view myself. It is always good to STOP and honor your body. When you're overweight, it's easy to have a litany of negative thoughts about your appearance constantly running through your mind. I think meditation is the most loving step you can take towards releasing excess weight.
Wow - this is great.......2002-10-30
I was amazed at the change in my food cravings - from baked goods to fruit. I was less hungry too! I'm telling all my friends to buy this CD!
gave it to a friend and watched her transform.......2002-06-05
I gave this cd to a friend of mine with a weight problem because I've had such good results with the other meditations in my own life. Nothing seemed to work that well for her but i think this cd reallyt did make a difference. It's the same principle as the others, bringing you to a new way of thinking about and looking at yourself. Maria was able to visualize and accept aspects of herself she hadn't before. She's looking better every week. Diet and exercise are crucial, but i think this is the missing element in a truly transforming process. She's looking great!

Customer Reviews:
The perfect Kathy Mattea collection.......2007-04-09
You can give your old copy of Kathea Mattea's "A Collection of Hits" CD to a friend, because you need to buy this one. The sound quality is terrific. All the songs sound crisp, and Mattea's voice is allowed to shine throughout. I am a casual fan of Kathy Mattea, so this CD was a perfect choice: It contains all the hits I wanted (unlike Mattea's first hits CD, which left out lots of hits) and a few great songs I'd never heard. A great CD and a steal at under ten dollars!
Best compilation yet of Kathy's music.......2007-01-20
In the late eighties and early nineties, Kathy's music based on traditional country but with folk influences, was extremely popular. This album contains twenty of her finest and most successful songs. As such, it represents a vast improvement on her first hits collection, the American version of which only included ten tracks although the European version had thirteen, the extra tracks being She came from Fort Worth Texas, Come from the heart and Burning old memories. All tracks on that original hits album are included here with the solitary exception of A few good things remain.
Love at the five and dime was the song that provided Kathy with her breakthrough, becoming a top three country hit. It was followed by a series of other country hits including Walk the way the wind blows, Going gone, You're the power, Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses, Where've you been, She came from Fort Worth Texas, Come from the heart, Burning old memories and Time passes by. Kathy's success continued (though not as strongly) into the nineties with excellent songs such as Lonesome standard time, Standing in a river and Walking away a winner. The set is rounded off by 455 Rocket (the most recent recording here, albeit a few years old now) and Mary did you know (from Kathy's first Christmas album, Good news).
This is an outstanding collection of Kathy's music. The American version of the earlier hits collection is still available but this one is much superior.

I purchased this tape for a gift for my wife and she loved it. I also like Kathy Mattea. We received a prompt reply and delivery even during Christmas. I would have no problem purchasing again.

Customer Reviews:
Great tempo.......2007-03-20
The music keeps a great tempo and it motivates me to move faster. I thought there would be motivational talking in it, but there wasn't (don't know if that's good or bad). The music didn't have original artists, but the music was recognizable and fun, and I really like it.

- The Daily Dose
Album Description
The Daily Dose CD is recommended as a great beginning to every morning whether listened to at home or first thing in the office. The objective is to target and focus one's thoughts to create the reality one would like to manifest. By tuning in to this meditation for 20-minutes each day, Freston contends productivity can be increased. She says: "By taking 20-minutes each day to focus on your desires you will not only reduce stress in your life, but increase creativity and improve your communication skills and productivity." Through gentle, step-by-step voice instruction and the powerful tool of creative visualization, Kathy brings the listener to a place of security and openess from which change can occur, transforming our reality by first creating a shift in our internal energy. Bill Laswell's music is featured in the background as Freston's soothing voice narrates.
Customer Reviews:
Not Really Relaxing..........2007-02-21
I really enjoyed some of Kathy Freston's other CDs and thought I would feel the same about this one, but I have to say it is not of the same quality.
She talks really fast and in a very monotone voice which is not at all condusive to meditation. Maybe the producers thought the fast pace would sound more motivational, but it's just annoying.
There is good material here (which is why I rated 2 stars) but the delivery is very poor.
No Magic Here - Save Your Money.......2006-12-21
I bought this CD based on the stellar reviews (and despite the fact that it is HUGELY overpriced - a 20 minute CD should cost no more than $7-8 dollars. Or there better be bonus material!) and was very disappointed for many reasons. Kathy Freston writes a great book, but she doesn't know how to make a meditation CD. I've been listening to meditations for over 10 years now (back when they were on tape!) and so feel that I can comment on what usually works. Firstly, Freston has a lovely voice, but she 1) talks like she's reading from a script - very quickly - and with little or no intonation. Her near monotone is hard to take - especially when she says: "Prepare for a a Miracle" in a very deadpan manner and then rushes into the next idea so you can't take that in. I just couldn't get over the monotone - it was almost rushed, with no enthusiasm. A real surprise. And talking too fast is NOT relaxing; it forces the listener to work harder to keep up. It provides no opportunity for the listener to absorb what's being said and allow their own images and feelings to appear. 2) she also talks through 99% of the CD, which, again, leaves little or no room for silent reflection or for answers to the questions she asks to pop into one's mind. She jumps right in and offers answers of her own, as well as expository information that is best left for the introduction to the meditation, not the meditation itself. The constant chatter stands in for our own Monkey Mind, which we're supposed to be getting away from! In her defense, I'll say that this seems to be a trend these days - those leading the meditations seem to love the sound of their own voice and talk constantly, leaving no gaps for silence, which is very important to have in meditation. Those guiding the meditation seem to forget there is a listener who, as in any 'conversation,' deserves their time to 'speak.' In our case we, as the one being guided, should be given regular pauses to silently fill in our side of the conversation with whatever rises up into our minds to be processed or to inspire us. Otherwise, it's very much one-sided. 3) the music is often SO loud, it starts to eclipse her voice and I had to struggle to pick out what she was saying. Again, not very relaxing. It's too bad, because she has some great ideas and visuals in this meditation, but she doesn't create a quiet, restful, relaxing environment in which to process and experience them. If you want a good meditation, try those by Mary Maddux, who also does ALOT of talking, but has a soothing, quiet voice - she speaks slowly, with inflection, and the music is very much in the background. Otherwise, save your money, or use this as merely an informational CD. Perhaps rerecord the meditation in your own voice, at your own speed, and listen to it that way.
Message keeps you focused.......2005-05-23
Kathy's voice, the music and the script blend together to make a wonderful meditation tape. She speaks throughtout the tape which I have learned to love. This helps keep my ADD mind focused and gives the meditation an intent. Other Meditations attempt to train you to empty your mind. Kathy guides you to relax and then foucs on your spirt and what you truly want and then encourages images that intensify your intention. I feel her method keeps me very focused and it stays with me all day.
Best Meditation CD.......2004-07-27
I've tried quite a few, and though all have something good to offer (any attempt at meditation is a good start), I find Kathy's CDs to be most productive. I don't know what it is ~ her voice, the music mix, carefully chosen words ~ but I respond to Kathy quickly and easily, making the time I set aside for meditation more efficient. She comes across like a spiritual friend, gently guiding your intention to work in your favor. Once you learn to stop sabotaging yourself, you discover how powerful intent truly is.
I try others, yet always come back to Kathy's CDs. That says something.
this keeps me honest.......2002-06-05
I did work from the other cd meditations and keep it fresh with a meditation every day. I think this cd is an excellent way to remain consistent with the important breakthroughs you can achieve with the others. It makes me feel like beginning each day with a smile!

Draw Me Close: Kathy Troccoli.......2007-01-12
She is one of the best in the music business and this CD is great.
Quiet and worshipful, this is one of the best inspirational recordings of 2005.......2005-11-27
Kathy Troccoli has never sounded better. This stripped-down acoustic treatment of popular praise and worship songs, choruses and hymns suits her well. Her own "My Life Is In Your Hands" is right at home with the rest. These are inspirational and reverent renderings to the accompaniment of guitar, piano, and cello.
This is a great example of taking the familiar and making it sound fresh. Though the majority of songs are well known, nothing sounds tired. The simplicity, sparseness and softness give new life to a strong collection of old and new.
A medley of two Bill Gaither classics, "There's Something About That Name" and "He Touched Me," provides a touch of nostalgia for those old enough to remember when they were popular. Light jazzy piano is sprinkled over an upbeat "Wonderful Merciful Savior." A few songs like "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" have extended instrumental parts. "How Great You Are" and "Knowing You" are beautiful songs of adoration.
This is a soothing way to start or end a day. Quiet and worshipful, this is one of the best inspirational recordings of 2005.
Draw Me Close; Songs of Worship.......2005-09-22
This is a great worship CD. Very calming and some great songs. It was recommended to me and I am not disappointed at all!
Simply Gorgeous.......2005-09-07
This is my first Kathy Troccoli album and I am so in love with it! I love the instrumentation...it's simple, yet the arrangements do not follow the standard formats that we are used to, making for a delightful change. It's true, many of the songs flow right into each other making for a seamless worship experience. If you like Darlene Zschech's Simply Worship cd (and I think this is even MORE gentle than that) or CeCe Winans' Throne Room, than you may appreciate this unique worship song collection.
Federal express right into His Presence!.......2005-07-08
This cd will take you from the outer court to the inner court in nannoseconds. It is crisp and clear with a pure Holiness. If you want to worship Jesus, if you want to focus on Him, this is the cd for you. With a just a cello, a guitar and a piano Kathy creates a heavenly symphony that is simple and powerful. Jesus is the focus, Jesus is the melody. Kathy's intent to focus on Him and not on herself gives this cd 5 stars and nothing less.

Buy It, Play It--Again and Again and Again!.......2007-04-12
Briefly: this is a wonderful album. If you know Kathy Mattea, it's a must-have; if you don't, this is a great place to start. "Time Passes By" and "Ready for the Storm" are outstanding songs, but there isn't a loser on the album!
Kathy in reflective mood.......2003-06-01
Kathy was one of the top country queens in the late eighties. Her blend of various musical styles - mainly country with folk influences and a little (only a little) pop flavor - reaped a rich harvest. This album was released in 1991 but failed to make the impact of its predecessors. I cannot believe this had anything to do with the quality of the music here, although this is a very reflective, mellow album devoid of any catchy, up-tempo songs that were a feature of her earlier music (remember Walk the way the wind blows). At a time when up-tempo songs were particularly fashionable, this may not have pleased country radio stations. Even so, A few good things remain was a big country hit.
Kathy and her husband Jon Vezner became friends with the obscure Scottish folk singer Dougie Maclean. On Kathy's first visit to Scotland, the three of them got together with some other Scottish musicians and recorded From a distance, a song first recorded by Nanci Griffith but which has also been covered by several other singers, including Bette Midler (whose version was an international pop hit) and Cliff Richard. Kathy's version features bagpipes during instrumental breaks. Before buying this CD, I wondered if this was really a suitable song for bagpipes (which I enjoy if used correctly) but I need not have worried. The result is a masterpiece.
Apart from that track, the album was recorded in Nashville and produced by Allen Reynolds, who is perhaps best remembered as Crystal Gayle's producer during her most successful period in the seventies. The titles of the songs - Time passes by, What could have been, Summer of my dreams, A few good things remain - often fit the reflective nature of the album. The strange story song, Harley, seems out of place lyrically with the rest of the album, but it is quite amusing even if doesn't sound credible.
This is not my favorite Kathy Mattea album - I generally prefer her earlier music - but it is still an excellent album that should not be ignored.
A Great Way for Time to Pass By.......1999-05-21
"Time Passes By" finds Ms Mattea in a reflective mood as she contemplates about her the time that has passed by. You will enjoy her thoughtful reflection of unrequited love on "What Might Have Been," or be amused by a delightful story as in "Harley," or enjoy an afternoon of romance out in the wide open spaces in "Summer of my Dreams." This album finds Ms Mattea in a reflective mood -- sometimes with a tear of joy, sometimes with a cry of regret, and sometimes with a whisper of hope. The album closes with the classic "From a Distance" in which Mattea and producer Allen Reynolds add a celtic touch to this classic. A very satisfying album for the thoughtful and for those tired of the mechanical assembly line country.

Customer Reviews:
Decent album, nothing too exciting.......2007-07-09
I gave this 4 stars largely on the strength of Kathy's singing [she has a very clear, melodious, and strong voice] and the storytelling. The music itself is not very interesting, I'm afraid. It's definitely country, but very low key. Walk the Way the Wind Blows and Train of Memories are teh best songs on here.
Classic Mattea.......2006-01-31
Thsi is Classic Mattea and is all about her unique style. Easy listening with thought provoking stories.
Good.......2004-07-11
This is a good CD, and would be a good introduction to Kathy Mattea if you are unfamiliar with her music.
"Love at the Five and Dime"..a song also covered by Nanci Griffith, is a great tune, also "Where Have You Been" and "Train of Memories" are great too!!
Brilliant eighties folk-country.......2003-10-04
Please note that a new compilation, Definitive collection, has now been released at a similar price. It contains 20 tracks compared to ten here. The only one included here but omitted from that set is A few good things remain. Unless you particularly want that track, I recommend buying Definitive collection instead.
In the late eighties and early nineties, Kathy's music based on traditional country but with folk influences, was extremely popular. This album contains ten of her finest and most successful songs. At the time of its original release, a European version was released with three extra tracks (She came from Fort Worth Texas, Come from the heart and Burning old memories, all from her Willow in the wind album) and a different title (Untold stories) but that has long been unavailable.Love at the five and dime was the song that provided Kathy with her breakthrough, becoming a top three country hit. It was followed by a series of other country hits including Walk the way the wind blows, Going gone, Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses and Where've you been, all included here.
