Positively Live! [Live]
Editorial Reviews

Many songwriters rely on introspection and world-weariness to fuel their compositions. Perhaps it's easier to craft powerful lyrics and a hypnotic melody if your soul is tortured. But D.C.-based folk duo the Kennedys have not taken this route. Positively Live, a 14-song collection that seeks to capture the renowned energy of their stage performances, is filled with songs of hope and optimism. All tracks feature two voices, two guitars--nothing more. However, this sparse presentation is not enough to make the Kennedys more palatable. Pete's captivating solos and lightning-fast picking cannot mask the duo's limitations, mostly their simplistic, syrupy-sweet lyrics. Die-hard fans may swoon, but newcomers should check out the Kennedys' 2000 release, the electronic-influenced Evolver, for a more intriguing offering. --Sally Weinbach

The Perry's CD.......2003-02-27
Absolutely positively awesome!.......2000-10-16
The vocal range of Nicole Watts, whom I hate to see leave, is unbelieveable. She gave me chills with "Praise God, It's Settled, I'm Saved." Tracy Stuffel is very entertaining as the spokesperson for the group and brings some light-hearted fun to the introduction of the songs on the CD. David Hill has a gorgeous tenor voice - he sings like an angel.
All in all, this is a very, very, very good CD. I have played mine so many times that I'm going to have to buy another - one for my car and one for my house. I just can't get enough of it. If you have any doubts about your relationship with the Lord, listening to the selections on this CD and hearing the beautiful blend of voices as they praise God, you will no longer doubt - just listen to "I'm Still Amazed," "Oh the Glory Did Roll," "Praise God, It's Settled, I'm Saved," then close it out with "I Will Pray for You" which is a slow tempo prayerful number. I look forward to hearing more from the Perry's SOON - even without Nicole.

Their energy, musicianship, and rapport with an audience, is something to savor in memory until the next opportunity to see them.
Now that their live act is captured on this CD, the wait between shows won't seem quite as long!
