Product Description
The only official recording by the Ivor Cutler Trio, this collection of some of Mr. Cutler's best loved songs, poems & stories were recorded in laissez-faire style by George Martin at Abbey Road, as one of the very first Air Productions. Highlighting the celebrated Scottish poet & raconteur's skill as a pianist & arranger as well as his unique way with language, it is one of his best recordings. Having launched Mr. Cutler's film career with a typically enigmatic starring role in the Beatles' film 'Magical Mystery Tour', which made him a film star of some renown, it was inevitable that Parlophone the Beatles' then label, would want a recording by the great man on it's catalogue. 2002.

Product Description
BROKEN BRIDE: A new rock opera from Ludo An epic love story told through music you have to hear to believe, "Broken Bride" is the story of a man (the Traveler) whose wife dies in a car accident in 1989. In deep mourning, he becomes obsessed with finding a way to go back and undo that day. After fifteen years of toil and isolation, he has built a machine to do just that. Miscalculations however, send the Traveler far off course and into an adventure spanning from the Dawn of Time to the Apocalypse. Confronted with unimaginable horrors, he longs only to return to that fateful morning in May, but ultimately finds himself faced with a terrible choice - between saving his wife and saving humanity. With huge hooky choruses and a relentless driving pace, Ludo jams a record store's worth of influences into five tracks of genre-bending narrative. "Broken Bride" is a 28-minute journey through time you'll want to take over and over again.

MASTERPIECE.......2005-12-15
My girlfriend let me borrow this CD and told me to pick a time to listen to the entire thing, unbothered, and uninterupted. I had already heard "Part I" a few times on the local radio station and already knew i loved it, but thats all the Ludo i'd heard at that point. So on my way to work one day I gave the CD a spin. I SWEAR the CD did not leave my CD player for a week. I was mesmorized. I have never heard anything like this, and may never again. The tale of love, loss, destruction, traveling through time and space all in the name of love. A rock opera in the essence of Pink Floyd's the Wall, and easily just as good. The emotion and passion in each part of every song on the album still gives me chills (and I've heard it through at least 50 times), and by the end the raw emotion of the music and story still chokes me up. Andrew, Tim, Tim, Matt, and Marshall have done it again. No. They've gone beyond the call of duty. I had the pleasure of getting to see the entire set live a few days ago here in thier hometown of St. Louis, and I was BLOWN AWAY. This is what music is all about!!!! Keep up the good work, Ludo, because you'll be rockin it BIG TIME really soon. I'm just glad I got to meet them when I did. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.
An unbelievable post-punk rock opera.......2005-09-28
There's no question that "Broken Bride" is a rock opera, but the music has more in common with "American Idiot" than similar narrative concept albums by The Who or Meatloaf. It tells the story of a man who build a time machine to prevent the death of the woman he loves. The machine malfunctions, sending him back to prehistory and forward to the Rapture. Ultimately, the traveler must make a choice that will decide whether he saves his wife or all of humanity.
When I first read about the concept, I laughed out loud at how ridiculous and overwrought it was. By the last song, I had to keep myself from crying. That's not what you'd necessarily expect from Ludo, whose self-titled first release positioned it as a Weezer-ish alternative rock band with a sense of humor. Broken Bride features the same emo-tinged vocals and hooky rock, but the band evades any attempt at genre categorization in its second outing.
In fact, the album's range is wide enough that there may be some moments that are too hard or too soft, depending on how you like your rock. But every genre twist and turn is perfectly executed, lushly produced, and imaginatively composed. It's an easy album to love, and one you'll want to be sure to listen from beginning to end.

Eclectic but excellent!.......2002-11-26
A fierce, sad, playful, intelligent mixture of music. Heavily rooted in Hungarian rhythms and melodies, still containing Croatian, Romanian and Gypsy songs as well, which is only fair, knowing the mix all of central Europe was and still is.
Playing is sharp and uncompromising. No studio tricks here, just pure virtuosity and passion. Jazz elements added too.
It is entertaining and moving, and I keep asking for more. And don't be fooled with the fast rhythms, there is always a sad undertone to this music. Which only adds to the beauty.
(Funny idiosyncrasy: On the front picture is Croatian city of Dubrovnik, and even the title is in Croatian language. Anti lived as a child in Zagreb, Croatia, so I guess this is sort of a homage to it)

The tree looks fine, and the driver's clean..........2006-01-01
I first heard Ludo's Broken Bride(part 1) on 105.7 The Point's local show here in St. Louis, and I was impressed, because unlike most of the local show, this was GOOD.
It wasn't long before I found them on scene site http://www.stlpunk.com, learned of their Christmas Show at The Pageant, and bought my tickets. The bands opening for them were decent, but Ludo completely blew me away. Definately the best show I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot, considering this is not a big-label mainstream band.
My favorites include Girls on Trampoline(great to see live), Roxy, and Hum Along, but the whole CD is fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the album for me as a christmas gift, and it is one of my favorite CDs.
Go ahead and pick this one up, you'll enjoy it, I promise. Also, pick up the Broken Bride album if you can, very different sound but still amazing.
Ludo Rocks!.......2005-12-15
I first heard Ludo from my girlfriend. Not actually this album, but their newest release Broken Bride (which, by the way, is an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE). I actually heard this album for the first time on my way to see them live at the Pageant in their hometown St. Louis. I had the pleasure to meet every member of the band and they are all the nicest, most down to earth guys I've ever met. This album is start-to-finish one of the best albums I've ever heard (second to Broken Bride), and Ludo is quickly becoming one of my favorite new bands. They won't be playing small venues for long, so if you have a chance to see them, DO IT SOON!!! Because before you know it they are going to be HUGE!!!!!!! Thank you Andrew, Tim, Tim, Marshall, & Matt for 'setting the standard' when it comes to great new music. Proud to be a fan!!! Oh, and my fave songs? Roxy, Hum Along, Girls on Trampolines, Good Will Hunting By Myself, Saturday Night Thunderbolt, Hello My Name is your TV, Laundry Girl, Ode to Kevin Arnold, Summertime, Sara's Song & Air-Conditioned Love. Oh Wait that's all of them, isn't it????? Yesss!!!!! LUDO ROCKS!!!!!!!!
If you haven't bought it YOUR MISSING OUT.......2004-11-21
Names Jesse, I saw them in california at the rumble invasion tour in san mateo Oct. 23rd. I'm not kidding you I was hooked when I saw them perform. They played later that night at Santa Clara University and they again rocked, there cd is just awsome, something I diffently listen to over and over and over again. I brough my sister with me so she can be blessed with experiencing the sounds of Ludo, and she was rockin out with me watchin them perform, and now she's hooked like I am. They also played again Oct. 26th in Sacramento at the boardwalk playin with Lucky Boy's Confusion, and since it was a small venue and good charlotte was playin that same night not very many people showed, but those that did when they watched Ludo play they were all hooked. I'm not kidding when you get this cd you will be glad you did, it's diffenetly well spent money. Anyway, The-Leech-Who-Gave-Back is outta here. I hope you enjoy your purchase, cause I know you will.
Never A Dull Moment.......2004-09-03
I've seen Ludo a good many times live now and I'm NEVER disappointed at the raw energy they display and find it's better than the cd, but the cd is full of original quirky lyrics that define Andrew Volpe's true personality. You'll never find more fun lyrics than "there's a metric ton of easy mac in my soul" among many others...Once you listen to their cd a few times you'll know if it's right for you, but see them ONCE live and you'll be hooked for life. Ludo's next cd is sure to be just as exciting and pure. It took me about 5 seconds of hearing them perform Saturday Night Thunderbolt during a soundcheck and I already wanted their cd...and I'm not the only one with a story like that. Ludo is worth it.
You'll hum along.......2004-06-27
I was hanging out at a local concert venue, not impressed at all with the other bands, when Ludo took the stage. I was blown away. They're an awesome band, with a great sound and absolutely hilarious lyrics! You should definately buy their CD, it's great, and unlike other bands, who have one hit song and the rest of the CD is crap, every single Ludo song is worth listening to. No duds here! My favs are Saturday Night Thunderbolt and Good Will Hunting by Myself.

Totally quirky, underhandedly brilliant. Listen with your kids!
Let's Play Ludo.......2003-01-10
Mr. Cutler is a unique artist who's work brings together the absurd, beauty, joy and melancholly to form his songs, poems and stories. Although many of his songs may make you laugh or smile there is a great seriousness and depth there. His songs stand up when covered by other artists e.g. Jim O'Rourke (Women of the World) and Robert Wyatt (Grass). One shouldn't underrate him by labelling him as just a comical curiosity. There is a lot more to him than that.
LUDO the only album by the Ivor Cutler Trio, recorded by Sir George Martin in 1967, is one of the best Ivor Cutler releases and has a unique flavour with fuller arrangements of his songs than just harmonium/ piano and voice (it's still fairly sparse). Flim, Flam, Flum and I Had a Little Boat are achingly beautiful. Cocka-doodle-don't and I'm Happy should make you laugh and dance and sing. It's great.
Please note this is not ROCK, so please don't play it too loud.
