Beginning with Gordie Sampson's compelling medley of Irish Jigs, “The Black Jigs”, the album takes you on a journey of beautiful guitar sounds that includes Bruce Cockburn's classic “Foxglove”, Rick Whitelaw's incredible swing tune “Bottom Dollar”, the Thomas Handy Trio's innovative melding of western and Classical Indian music in “Spring”, J.P. Cormier's masterful rendition of “The Mathematician/Sleepy Maggie”, Don Ross' string bending “3 Hands”, and Dave Clarke's bluegrass instrumental “Katherine”. Ken Hamm and Doug Cox weigh in with an uptempo ragtimey tune featuring guitar and dobro, Stephen Fearing contributes his tribute to Martin Carthy, “Martin's”, and Jean Hewson showcases her guitar talents on “Scotty MacMillan's G Minor Jig”. As a special treat, fans of CBC Radio One will recognize Eve Goldberg's “Watermelon Sorbet” as the theme to the national daily show “Richardson's Roundup”.
