Wonderful harmonies, well-crafted arrangements - but what really makes this album a must-have is quite basic: the songs

About the Artist
Late Tuesday's approach is deceptively simple. With the disarming facade of three young, pretty girls with guitars and pianos, you expect a simple ordeal of acoustic coffeeshop-folk, but Late Tuesday has made a name for themselves by overturning expectations. Their style embodies a full range of influences, from low-key singer-songwriters like Aimee Mann to big-sound folk-pop stars like Sarah McLachlan and even Ben Folds. Writing all their own material and playing all their own instruments, this trio stands out from the crowd with powerful melody, complex harmonies, and an uncommon ability to stir the emotions.

Late Tuesday formed in early 2000 and are a three-piece consisting of Dana Little (vocals, keys), Tara Ward (vocals, guitar, keys) and Jocelyn Feil {vocals, guitar). They soon acquired a backup rhythm section to fill out their sound, but the girls are the heart of the band, sharing vocal and songwriting duties equally between the three of them. This effortless blend of three distinct individual styles creates a dynamic that is always fresh and full of motion. It shines especially bright in their fun, energetic live shows, which have drawn crowds to such notable venues as the EMP, Mt. Baker Theater, UW, WWU, The Paradox, The Tractor, The Wild Buffalo, Folklife Festival, and sold-out BlueTree productions.

Their regional following has increased by leaps and bounds with each progressive release, beginning with their highly successful self-titled debut in 2001, followed by 2002's "Looking for Flowers Again," and this year's "Remember We Forget." They have sold over 6700 CD's to date, and those numbers continue to climb as they tour an ever-widening regional circuit.

Late Tuesday's latest release sees them developing and maturing as artists, with a new level of emotional and sonic complexity, diversity, and experimentation that pushes the boundaries of the folk-pop genre. This strong step forward promises to widen their appeal to previously untouched corners of the music world as they continue to share their unique voice throughout the western U.S. and beyond.

5 out of 5 stars First Rate Light Music.......2004-08-31

Dacades ago on FM radio I heard a medium tempo version of "Would You Like to Take a Walk?" that knocked my socks off. Simply beautiful. It took me this long to find out that it was Robert Farnon's Orchestra that performed that gem! And now, not only do I finally have it, I have also discovered more of Mr. Farnon's wonderful repertoire on these two albums.

This may be considered "Light Music" but it is certainly not boring. There are uptempo romps like "Yes, we have no Bananas" and "Blue Skys" as well as near classical beauties like "Can I Forget You?" and "Down By the River." Farnon takes full advantage of his rather sizeable orchestra which consists of strings, brass, reeds, percussion, rhythm and harp.

The cd is a nice production as well with interesting liner notes about Robert Farnon and the music per se. There are reproductions of the original album covers released both in the UK and U.S. There are also track times and composer listings, but, sadly, no mention of the orchestra members other than specific soloists. Originally the sound quality, even in 1953 and 1954 when these albums were recorded, was excellent. Fifty years has taken some of the edge off of that sound from the master tapes, but it is still very good.

It's easy for me to recommend this cd and I will be forever grateful to Amazon for giving me the resources to finally track down Farnon and his beautiful arrangement and performance of "Would You Like to Take a Walk?"

5 out of 5 stars An old(in years) "Late Tuesday" fan.......2004-07-04

This is really great music. I first heard this on Internet radio. I bought one album and now I have all three. I liked this group so much; I went to there show in the middle of Washington. This was a 1360-mile trip, and I wasn't disappointed, it was great. I believe I like the " Looking for Flowers Again" album a little more than this one. Others have described the music better than I can, but I can say it is very up-building music.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect music for life.......2004-05-24

Late Tuesday is one of those bands where EVERY song on the album is great. I keep all of their albums in my car becuase I know, no matter what mood I'm in I will always want hear them. I came across them by chance online. I listened to a song and promptly bought the album on Amazon.com. After listening to it over and over and over, I bought the other two albums! I can't wait for the next one. Their music is beautiful, folky, funky, pop-y, and you can tell they know what they're doing. I think I've heard them on a show like Smallville or Gillmore Girls or something. Anyway I recommend all of their albums.
