Product Description
Heritage is a unique concept album, which explores the expanse of American Roots music. These folk tunes, which run the gamut from Appalachian gospel to African-American chants to "heart songs" and fiddle tunes from every part of this country, all have the distinction of being crucial to the cultural development of this nation, and still musically relevant: they're so strong as purely musical entities that they can take just about any kind of setting and not lose their meaning and identity. From distilled reportage to pure musical flight, these songs speak directly to matters of deep immediacy and relevance: Love, poverty, despair, joy, death, after-death. Nobody wrote them; Everybody wrote them. Listening to them is experiencing cultural geology.
The vocalists include: Mary- Chapin Carpenter, John Gorka, Willie Nelson, Tim O'Brien, Jane Siberry, Mavis Staples and Dar Williams
Instrumentalists on Heritage include: Phil Aaberg, David Balakrishnan, Russ Barenberg, Sam Bush, Joe Craven, Vassar Clements, Jerry Douglas Michael Doucet, Stuart Duncan,Tony Elman, Bela Fleck, David Grisman John Hartford, Barbara Higbie, John Jennings, David Lindley, Michael Manring, Mike Marshall, Paul McCandless, Edgar Meyer, Andy Narell Barry Phillips, Todd Phillips, Tony Trischka and Victor Wooten;.

Product Description
Everybody loves a wedding--especially a wonderful, lively and crazy ITALIAN one! That is why the nationally acclaimed, San Diego-based band, ROMAN HOLIDAY, decided to create the ultimate Italian Wedding CD, filled with lively and passionate Italian wedding favorites guaranteed to fill the reception hall with plenty of "AMORE." As an added bonus, the CD features a 16-page "How To" booklet that takes the prospective bride and groom, wedding planner, or DJ step-by-step through an Italian American Wedding reception. The booklet describes each part of the reception itinerary and gives a history of the traditional Italian wedding songs played at each segment, which corresponds to a listing on the CD track. Recorded live in a state-of-the-art studio using up to 25 performers, the musical selections include traditional songs to accompany the Grand Entrance/ Bridal Party Processional, the First Dance, the Father-Daughter Dance, the Mother-Son Dance, the Grand March, the Tarantella, the Cake Cutting and Money Dance. In addition, Italian wedding favorites such as "That's Amore," the "Chicken Dance," and "C'é La Luna Mezza Mare" are included. The CD also includes selections of swing, mambo, and tango music and even gives an outline of how to dance the Tarantella, a definite "must do" at an Italian wedding. "If you ask people what comes into mind when they think of an Italian American wedding, they'll mention the good food and all the fun they had dancing to the music," said Tony DiBona, band leader and producer of the Italian Wedding CD. "All the cherished Italian American traditions come together at a wedding celebration and the music is truly the heart and soul of the Italian wedding experience-after the food, of course!" The CD is a perfect choice for wedding couples of Italian American heritage who want to keep traditional customs alive but need a guide to help them along. "We packaged the CD so that the DJ in Topeka or the wedding coordinator in Baton Rouge can produce an authentic Italian American wedding-- even if the closest Italian community is hundreds of miles away," said DiBona. "If you are an Italian American and are planning a wedding reception around your heritage, this is the guide for you. And if you're neither Italian nor planning a wedding, we bet you'll still be moved to clap your hands and move your feet when you listen to these lively and romantic songs," DiBona added. It is also a wonderful compilation of favorite Italian songs, performed by excellent musicians, to be enjoyed by ANYONE who loves Italian and Italian American music. The ROMAN HOLIDAY show band, now in its tenth year, has performed for festivals and corporate events in cities across the country and has appeared in several Hollywood films. Their lively and colorful show includes a wide repertoire of Italian-style music and dance.
Customer Reviews:
The VERY BEST Italian wedding CD available.......2007-02-23
I can't tell you how much money we spent buying every CD with ITALIAN WEDDING in its title. As first generation Italian Americans, we wanted to salute our heritage at our daughter's wedding. One of the last CDs we bought was this one, from a relatively unknown band, but it saved the day. The music, fresh and original, live arrangements of all the songs we wanted, was a huge hit. The "How To Plan an Italian Wedding" booklet in the CD helped us so very much. . .Roman Holiday could sell that alone for the price of the CD...but you get both! Anyone who wants lively, fun Italian party music can't go wrong with this CD either...it's great for any fun Italian party or birthday, annivesary, whatever. Anyway, we thought this is the best Italian CD we've bought in a long time and I just wanted to tell the world about it. There is so much recycled stuff out there that bores you to tears, but this is the best in our humble opinion.
The Best Collection Ever.......2007-02-03
As soon as I listened to it, I closed my eyes and felt the Italian Wedding atmosphere.
Great CD.
This is the BEST Italian wedding/party CD out there-don't be fooled by cheaper CDs.......2006-07-11
GRAZIE A DIO for this CD! We are an Italian American family with roots in Southern Italy and Sicily. The songs are beautifully performed and are lively and moving at the same time.
The booklet was an added bonus that helped us with the reception. The author wrote about all the old traditions we remembered as kids growing up in the Italian community. All we had to do is hand the book to the wedding planner, and she knew what we wanted.
We bought all sorts of "Italian Wedding" CDs before we found this one, and this one was by far the WINNER. Okay, it was not the cheapest out there, but you really get what you pay for! Wish we could have saved the money we wasted on all the inferior ones, but we found out about this one only because a DJ friend recommended it.
Can highly recommend to anyone planning an Italian wedding, or any other Italian themed event. It would work for so many happy occasions.
We feel we needed to add our comments, as we enjoyed it so much and wanted to spread the word among our cumpahs. We like the fact this musical group took the old songs and gave them new life.
Viva la musica italiana!
Read the fine print.......2006-07-09
Being born and raised in America with Italian parents, this cd was not for me. If I had known that some nobody was singing these great songs I would have never bought it. Where are Connie Francis, Loui Primo, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Jerry Vale? These songs where butchered by these people who can't sing! I won't embaress my family by playing this at my wedding.
Bellisimno.......2006-06-09
I am a non-Italian trying to plan an Italian themed wedding. This CD was the BEST first step for me. I received the CD many months ago and have been referring to it ever since. Besides GREAT songs, they offer a description of what dance/tradition takes place during each song. My wedding is only two weeks away and I am still refering back to this CD. It has been a true inspiration!!

The title of this tribute to the Carter Family alludes to their best-known spiritual, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." While that standard isn't included here, the roster of artists renews the spirit of the circle, a familial legacy that encompasses Mother Maybelle's daughter June Carter Cash, June's husband Johnny Cash, Johnny's daughter Rosanne Cash, and generations of artists inspired by them. Highlights range from the yelp of George Jones on "Worried Man Blues" to the surge of rockabilly energy in John Prine's "Bear Creek Blues" to the banjo-driven, fiddle-tinged bluegrass of the Del McCoury Band's "Rambling Boy." As for the family's performances, Rosanne brings a depth of expression to "The Winding Stream" while a sense of mortality pervades Johnny's "Engine One-Forty-Three" and June's "Hold Fast to the Right." And Willie Nelson's solo reading of "You Are My Flower" gives it room to bloom. Album producer John Carter Cash (son of Johnny and June, grandson of Maybelle) makes every one of these tracks feel like family. --Don McLeese
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful tribute album.......2005-09-05
The original Carter family began recording in the 1920's and continued into the 1940's with a brand of music that has influenced many country and folk singers of subsequent generations. Not only that, but the family has itself produced some notable singers such as June Carter (daughter of Maybelle, who sings Hold fast to the right) and Carlene Carter (daughter of June but not featured here). Janette and Joe Carter (daughter and son of Sara and A P Carter) sing here on Little Moses.
This tribute album largely avoids the most famous Carter family songs so you won't find Wabash Cannonball (recorded seven years before Roy Acuff's even more famous version), I'm thinking tonight of my blue eyes (the tune of which has been used for Great speckled bird, Wild side of life and It wasn't God who made honky tonk angels), Keep on the sunny side, Homestead on the farm a.k.a. I wonder how the old folks are at home, Will the circle be unbroken, Jimmy Brown the newsboy, Little darling pal of mine, Lonesome valley, Foggy mountain top and Wildwood flower.
Without any of those classics, the best-known songs here may be Worried man blues (covered here by George Jones), You are my flower (covered here by Willie Nelson) and Gold watch and chain (covered here by Kris Kristofferson and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Emmylou included this song on her bluegrass album, Roses in the snow). You should also recognize the tune to Bear Creek blues (here sung by John Prine) as it is the same as Orange Blossom Special.
In poor health, Johnny Cash (whose sixties recording of Orange Blossom Special is the most famous recording of that song) clearly struggled to sing Engine 143 yet the song works well in the circumstances. At the other end of the age spectrum are the Peasall sisters, who have previously appeared on the O brother soundtrack. Her, they join Emmylou for a fine rendition of On the sea of Galilee.
Sheryl Crow (No depression) and Shawn Colvin (Single girl married girl) represent the contemporary music scene well. The other excellent tracks here are Never let the devil get the upper hand of you (Marty Stuart), Black Jack David (Nancy and Norma Blake with Tim O'Brien), Will my mother know me there (The Whites with Ricky Skaggs), The winding stream (Rosanne Cash) and Rambling boy (Del McCoury Band).
My copy of this album is a limited edition that includes a bonus sampler CD. Two of the tracks on that CD are covers of famous Carter family songs. While I appreciate the effort taken to record obscure songs, those two tracks reinforce my belief that this would have been an even better album if two or three famous songs from my earlier list had been included. Still, this album is not - and was never intended to be - a substitute for a collection of the original family's recordings.
If you enjoy traditional folk-country music, you'll surely love this album. You might also enjoy another Carter family tribute that I reviewed a long time ago by Ginny Hawker and Kay Justice, simply titled Bristol.
Carter Family.......2005-07-23
I now have all three of the Carter family CD's and they are great!
SOME OTHER GREAT ALBUMS.......2005-05-06
I am a big fan of roots music. This album is a beautiful, captivating record that consistently delivers great music, song after song. If you enjoy this album and are looking for some similar great roots albums then I recommend the following:
1) Appalachian Stomp: Bluegrass Classics
2) Ain't No Grave: A Tribute To Traditional And Public Domain Songs
3) March 16-20 by Uncle Tupelo
4) Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs Of Stephen Foster
5) Every Sound Below by Tim Eriksen
A play on words that plays! .......2005-01-07
If you like Carter Family music and want current performers this is a good choice. The nice thing is that John Carter Cash keeps the music true to the roots. This is something A.P. could have done and would like. Very well done and something worth having
The Carter Family Revisited.......2004-12-19
John Carter Cash, the son of June Carter and Johnny Cash, has produced here a fitting tribute to the original Carter family. First he has managed to select some of the less often recorded songs and has gathered an interesting, talented group of entertainers to pick and sing these A. P. Carter numbers. Additionally he has written a thoughtful, insightful introduction on the relevance and influence of the Carter Family on bluegrass/folk/country music, whatever you choose to call it. There are some really beautiful numbers here. It's difficult to pick a favorite from so many. Emmylou Harris' rendition of "On The Sea of Galilee" with Randy Scruggs' acoustic guitar sounding so much like Maybelle Carter's style, however, is as good as this kind of music gets. Willie Nelson accompanies himself on guitar in a soulful "You Are My Flower" reminiscent of his "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain," that was such a big hit years ago. Janette and Joe Carter's (A. P. and Sara's children) arrangement of "Little Moses" complete with Janette's lacy autoharp playing is quite beautiful. These two singers are almost in a time warp and have a sound closer to the original Carter family than anyone else on this CD. "Gold Watch and Chain" by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Kris Kristofferson rounds out my favorite four. The two cuts I like least are "Worried Man Blues" by George Jones and "Hold Fast To The Right" by June Carter Cash with vocal backup by her husband. Jones, whose velvety tenor voice I love appears to have pitched this one one key too high; June Carter, although she co-wrote a country classic, "Ring of Fire," and was a great comedienne, was never known for having a beautiful voice. Sad to say, here she basically sings off-key. Perhaps Mr. Cash should have selected another number by her since she does some much better A. P. Carter on her previous solo albums.
There are 15 selections here, certainly something for every bluegrass/Carter Family fan. Wouldn't it be a fine day for music if Emmylou Harris did an all A. P. Carter album, along with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt!

Customer Reviews:
Brings back visit to Hawaii.......2005-12-10
I had no idea what Slack Key Guitar was until finally took the wrapper off this CD and played it. Love this CD. Very relaxing. Great backgound music-can let it play all day. Brings back the memories of our visit to Hawaii.
I judge all my other slack key cds against this one..........2000-06-02
Bought it on May 17. Ended up buying 11 (and counting) other slack key music cds. But still my favorite overall. I can't sing, but do want to learn to play slack key, so this instrumental cd of solo (no other instrument) slack key inspires me. You will not go wrong buying this one!
The mellow performances match my personality, and bring to mind images of balmy breezes and swaying trees.
I've been looking for another instrumental cd of solo slack key performances, but have yet to find one that matches this one...except maybe Ozzie Kotani's, and Ledward Kaapana's live CD.
If you are wanting to play slack key, listen to this one and hear what can be achieved, without being distracted by other instruments.

Neither Circus nor Spectacular, but it is Karl King........2006-10-15
Having played a number of times under Karl King, I had great expectations for this CD. Alas, it was not to be. The music is there, the musicians play all the right notes and the conductor keeps time. The recording is only mediocre, of Laserlight quality, and the performance is not what I expected from what they call a "Circus Band." Indeed, the liner notes state that the band is mostly students and professionals from the Philadelphia area. In other words, a "pick up" band. And the conductor seems to have no circus experience only small town symphony experience (from the puffery in the liner notes). From listening, it would appear that he has never even heard a real circus band. Both conductor and band would not last a day at a real circus. I do have a suspicion, however, that the musicians would do better under a better conductor.
Now, if they called themselves a concert band, that would be accurate and fair, and would not have dashed my hopes, as they are OK as a concert band. But just OK.
Of course, a concert band can indeed generate all the excitement of a bona fide circus band, as Frederick Fennell so aptly demonstrated on his Mercury recordings.
Now, if you want real circus music played by a real circus band, get a Merle Evans recording.
However, having said all that, I will keep the album, as I have always been a Karl King fan, and it is fine music decently played by an OK concert band.
Great circus music.......2005-08-12
I needed some circus music to promote a fundraiser our Lion's club was having (a circus). I got the CD on time and it sounded great. I could not find this type of music anywhere else. Thanks.
Good music, mediocre playing.......2001-11-19
It was indeed exciting to find so many of Karl King's marches on one disc. The band's playing, however leaves a lot to be desired, as does the sound quality of the disc. The balance is poor, with a very annoying tenor sax playing loud and out-of-tune on every cut. Buy this if you are a march collector (which I am), but I do not recommend it for its entertainment value. Get the "Screamers" disc by Fennell and Eastman for a far superior set of circus marches with great playing and sound.
Review of Circus Spectacular.......2000-12-07
Certainly the best thing about this CD is that there are many of Karl King's marches that have probably never been recorded previously, which is curious, since some of them rank with his best. The curious thing about this CD, on the other hand, is that it is supposedly a circus album, but only a few marches were actually written for the "big top". This band is not the best I have heard - recommend listening with headphones, to get a much clearer, less muddled sound. King was only kind of a contemporary of Sousa, having lived 35-40 years later. He actually published more marches than Sousa, and generally wrote in a style that was "softer" than the March King. Sousa wrote mostly military-style marches (better than anyone else ever has, of course), whereas King wrote many military as well as circus marches, and marches in a simpler style, suitable for school bands.
Circus Spectacular.......2000-08-12
This recording of music by Karl King is absolutely splendid -it contains 28 tracks most of which I have certainly not heard before - I particularly liked the tempos of the marches - not too quick but just right - the band is good (although I had never heard of them) - I came across this recording by chance and I'm glad I did - highly recommended

I love Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas music, so I've been collecting their music for other holidays as well. I wish they'd avoided the occasional speaking parts in this but I love most of the musical parts. They did a good job on the Aaron Copland piece! I'll be listening to it other than on July 4th.

Rocking Red!!!.......2005-02-20
One of the same of Red's many great CD's....
Very great children's music, along with Hap Palmer,
I also thoroughly enjoy Greg and Steve---
There are so many great enchanting voices that relax
us, and Red is one of them!!!
This goes for Hap Palmer too!!
My favorite children's CD of all time.......2004-05-04
Red Grammer is my favorite musician for young children (and adults as well), and this is my favorite of all his albums. My preschool class love to sign "Hello World" and rock out to "Bueno Appetito" (and parents love to hear them using phrases in 4 different languages). But my two personal favorites for their beauty and message are "on the day you were born" and "Starlight, Starbright". Wonderful for parents, kids, and teachers alike.
Worth paying for.......2003-11-03
A friend of mine knew I was taking my two kids (ages 3.5 and 1.5 years) on a long car trip, and told me his uncle was a children's song musician. He dropped off a (burned) copy of this album to us to take in the car on the trip. We had never heard of Red Grammer before then. Well, we took the trip and everyone loved the album. It gets better and better each time we listen to it. My 3 1/2 year old just rocks out to it in the back of the car, singing and dancing along. It keeps him occupied the whole time it plays. We like it so much that I'm buying a legitimate copy of it, just to support this wonderful artist, and another copy to give to my son's school.
Best kids' music EVER!!.......2002-12-12
This is a wonderful, WONDERFUL collection of kids' songs! My daughters (ages 3 and 5) have been listening to it for more than 3 years -- this was the first tape my 5-year-old sang along with. They both LOVE it! We lost it over the summer and I was happy to replace it because we all missed it so much. The music is beautiful, fun, not annoying to parents, and expresses nothing but happiness. Red Grammer is a genius, and I'm glad (especially on long car trips) that we found him! Also, if you ever have a chance to see him live, do it! He does a great show!
Best children's CD we've ever bought.......2002-10-15
Red Grammer has a nice voice and plenty of musical talent, but the real stars on this CD are the songs themselves. Every one is a gem--singable, danceable, filled with messages of love and peace. I find myself humming them constantly. I'm buying multiple copies to give to my daughter's friends for Christmas.

Excellent!.......2007-02-02
A roots-rocking, compelling collection of much of the very best music to date of Jamaica's Morgan Heritage, the undeniable "First Family of Reggae", impeccably recorded before a loving crowd in Amsterdam. Gorgeous melodies, intelligent lyrics, musicianship rivaling Bob Marley's Wailers at their very peak, impassioned vocal deliveries, tight harmonies, and best of all reggae as reggae is best heard--LIVE! This one deserves six stars--music as truly lovely as this is as much a rarity as remains the Morgan Heritage family. Whether you're an avid fan of reggae in general or Morgan Heritage in particular, or just curious about what's up with reggae music in 2006, this impeccable recording is a must. Enjoy!
Dilemma, Dilemma, Dilemma. . ........2006-09-27
Listening to modern reggae music these days, you can't help but be aware of and somewhat (whether by choice or by their overall activity) of a listener of the Morgan Heritage Family. Be it on an actual album, which they're pretty regular at, releasing a big album every 2 years or so, performing, and they tour constantly or producing, which they are very good at, the Morgans have truly saturated the reggae market and are arguably the best known performing band on the modern roots reggae scene.
However, I'm not a big fan of theirs. They make a style of reggae which for some reason just does not click with me. I'm much more of a fan, in fact, of their production work, including producing for the unknown wicked singer Prince Theo and making the riddim which the legendary Jah Jah City by Capleton and many other good songs (including Love is the Solution by Jah Cure) were on.
But it doesn't take only a fan to realize how fantastic of a live act the Morgans are, Rockaz is, in fact their second live recording, the first being Live in Europe in 2000. This concert took place in late 2005 in Amsterdam on one of their countless persuits through mashing up Europeon stages. It took me a few trips to the record store, but ultimately I decided to go ahead and pickup Live: Another Rockaz Moment (and VP makes it such a warm target, that cover is absolutely gorgeous!). Another factor in my buying it was that the shelves aren't exactly brimming with modern reggae LIVE albums. Its a very unattended to genre within the music which was very popular in the late 90's-early 00's, but has nearly vanished these days amongst current artists.
The music also sounds a little different when done live, so I find myself enjoying a few of the songs which I know, but weren't very fond of from the Morgans' studio albums.
My favorite track actually is the speech, In This Day & Time. The track is just a talk, just a reasoning which leads so nicely into the next track, So Much to Come. That's a great example of the music being different live, as opposed to being done in the somewhat restricting nature of the studio. Sometimes you can hear the greater intensity in the vocal performances. And I remember the song from the Full Circle album, where it basically didnt do anything for me.
Some of the songs which I enjoyed previously from the group are also well done on Live. Especially check Tell Me How Come! over the enchanting Seasons riddim which sounds sooooooooo nice done by the Morgans live. Also loooooooooove the live treatment of Your Best Friend, again, with the very nice lead in. She's Still Loving Me also very nice done. . .
just mark me down as really enjoying the final quarter of the album immensely!
Earlier on check the Intro of course, getting everything going in a very very good mood. Its lead in helps makes the opening song, In Dem Ting Deh even better and the strong one drop on that song (and throughout) just shines! I also really like Live Up, A Man is Still a Man (a song I distinctly remember disliking!), Hail Rastafari and one of my favorite Hertiage cuts, Maskal Square, from the More Teachings album I believe.
Overall, definitely reccomend Live: Another Rockaz Moment! I'm sitting her wishing that their next album would be a live album, these songs sound so much better done in the live treatment and you don't get the typical things you get in reggae with the wheel up or the changing of the riddims. The Morgans seem to make a point of singing the songs how the fans would know them, which is always a good idea! Another good idea is picking up this album.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent music!.......2006-04-26
A wonderful collection of top-notch music by the very best reggae band today. Ever-brilliant songwriting and tight, inspired musicianship combine to make this Morgan Heritage album not-to-be missed. From the rootsie, melodic "Jah Comes First" to the hip-hop flavored "Gangsta Groupie", there's something for everyone here, and the band sacrifices nothing in their obvious effort to widen their audience. Try this album--if you love reggae, just like it or want to give it a try, Morgan Heritage will always delight and surprise you.
Inconsistent and boring.......2006-03-19
In this latest offering, Morgan Heritage reasserts their formula of "safe" pop-reggae designed to be commercially viable in markets outside the Caribbean.
As evidenced by the R&B tracks, the electric guitar riffs, and the appearance of Bounty Killer on the final cut, it seems as though the producers are trying hard to reach the broadest audience possible. My mistake, I thought I was listening to a reggae album.
On the bright side, highlights include the catchy, uptempo "Hail Up the Lion" and the dancehall remix of "U've Got Me".
For a band whose 1994 debut LP was glaringly mediocre, coming "full circle" is nothing to celebrate. There isn't nearly enough substance here to keep listeners interested long, even if one happens to love the album initially.
YES...So much more to come..........2005-08-01
Morgan Heritage has come "FULL CIRCLE'on this cd. They have proved how verstile they can be without losing their roots. The Heritage family lay it down something lovely with fabulous vocals arrangements. Gramps shows off his wonderful sexy vocals on the song "I'm coming home". My personal favorite is "Your Best Friend" and judging by their fans reactions at last nights Brooklyn concert it seems "Your Best Friend" is on its way to the number one spot! "Propaganda" and "Jah Comes First" are also great songs with meaning full messages.
Don't sleep on this one people, there is something for Reggae and R&B fans alike.
Rastafari.
This is more like R&B/Reggae than Roots Reggae.......2005-07-30
I like Heritage and have listened to them for a few years now but this album was over produced. There is to much going on for the music to breath. The bass lines on this album do not help at all either they are way to busy. Get back to basics Heritage instead of selling out. You are to talented to not be one of Reggae's best.
TRUE TO THE LEGACY.......2005-07-12
This is one of my favorite reggae groups of all time right up there with Third World, Steel Pulse, and Black Uhuru! I can't wait to see them live in concert! This group of young culture artists like Richie Spice, Chrisinti, Morgan Heritage, and a few others are the future of roots reggae.

Not the best........2005-03-02
I bought this CD with high hopes. I absolutely loved the first one, the one recorded live. This one was a disappointment though. The guys songs are good and their voices are in good form but it was missing something...feeling, I guess. The live concert version can make me cry and laugh it's so sung with feeling, but this is just singing. I just felt it lacked feeling. I guess that's why I was disappointed with it.
What a magnificent Heritage.......2005-01-22
I highly recommend this album to all fans of Irish music. This is the last album with Ronan as a memember and it is one of their best. Ronan's "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" is wonderful, so too is Finbarr's "South of the Border". The theme from the Titanic "My Heart Will Go On" is the best version since Celine Dione's. My favorite track is Anthony's "The West's Awake" . One point to note is that this group is one of the few out there who can perform live with an equally good recorded sound. Having listened to them at Meadowbrook NH the night of Ronan's farewell I can assure you that live or recorded they have a fantastic sound. I highly recommend this CD to all fans of Irish music.

A Review .......2004-10-30
I have never really been a fan of Traditional Irish Music and had never even HEARD of the Irish Tenors....That is until a friend of mine introduced me to the recording of "Live In Belfast" Instantly, I was hooked. I have become addicted to a lot of these songs. Especially the goofier ones they sing. like "Phil the Fluther" and "Courtin in the Kitchen" When Heritage was released I was estatic....As I had loved all the songs they had released before. Even though they recycled some of their songs. I loved the way they re recorded "Red Is The Rose" with Finbar in place of John and also "Fields Of Athenry" I Found this version to be better than the other one. I found it really bizare that they would sing "My Heart Will Go On" as that is not an Irish Song...Ireland was where the Titanic sank. but still. I really enjoyed listening to it. "South of the Boarder" and "Golden Jubilee" along with "Little Brigid Flynn" were quite entertainingly cute. I really enjoyed Anthony's "The West's Awake" and "The Parting Glass" and "The Harp That Once Through Tara's Halls" I would, too also love to see Anthony put out a solo album.
Heritage, The Irish Tenors.......2004-09-30
This is another delightful effort by Anthony, Finbar and Ronan.
My favorite songs were "Off to Philadephia" (Anthony) and "My Heart Will Go On" (Finbar). I didn't even mind the repetition of some songs heard on past CDs - but wondered about it, until I learned of the departure of Ronan Tynan. I am curious to see the kind of arrangements they have included on their new CD, due to come out later this year, which they made upon the return of John McDermott. John is a Canadian of Celtic descent, whose voice, though pleasant in a folksy way, does not seem to blend as well with Anthony and Finbar as did Ronan's trained vocals. I would be very pleased to see Anthony make a solo CD, including such ballads as (my all-time favorite) Bantry Bay and some of the wonderfully playful Irish ditties he sometimes performs at his solo concerts.
Tattered Tenors.......2004-08-20
When the Irish Tenors burst upon the public scene not too many years ago, they were heralded as a refreshing change in the sea of musical mediocrity. The original trio of McDermott, Kearns and Tynan thrilled us with their exuberance and vocal virtuosity and frankly, I miss that. (Please note: since I originally wrote this review the threesome has changed to McDermott, Kearns and Wright with Tynan having left the group).
As one of their latest efforts, "Heritage" is an "okay" album, but it certainly lacks the freshness and fun of the Irish Tenors' earlier efforts. Of course, there are notable exceptions such as Kearns' roguish "Off to Philadelphia", the sprightly "Golden Jubilee" and the beautiful "The West's Awake" solo by Kearns. Wright's "Little Brigid Flynn" is downright fun but his "South of the Border" is oddly out of place. With too many recycled songs and a little too little Anthony Kearns, I personally found "Heritage" to be the weakest effort in the generally stellar Irish Tenors' discography.
