Brilliant, essential Hawkwind.......2001-03-26
This set couples the 1983 album "Zones" with the 1984 live set "This Is Hawkwind, Do Not Panic". Both are great albums, and both are essential for Hawkwind fans as they showcase a generally overlooked period which was fantastic. "Zones" mixes new material with live classics, a pattern that continues today. And it's nice that the new material is what make the disc so spellbinding. 'Running Through The Back Brain' is an unheralded Hawkwind classic. But everything falls into place on "Zones" making it one of the band's more interesting albums. "Do Not Panic" is prime live Hawkwind, with great sound and performances to match. Taken from their Stonehenge performances of '81/'82, this is a positively scorching trip. There are many Hawkwind live recordings and this is one of the very best. All in all, this is a great buy; two Hawkwind classics for about 15 dollars! I have this version, not the individual cd's, and they are gold discs. I assume all are, but I'm not sure. At any rate, "The Stonehenge Collection" is marvelous!! Fantastic music from the great Hawkwind. All fans need this material in their collection.

Unsigned bands and cover bands Please!.......2002-06-23
I enjoyed the cover album some. It is one of those (check out these new unsigned bands) albums. The covers of coarse have mustakes in places such as missing a spot and moving too fast or out of sink, but over all the sound is decent. I would suggest this album to only fans of Black Sabbath that have the albums already.1. N.I.B. (Performed by: Premoniction)- Just like the normal version tho the Ozzy Clone sounded like he was laughing through it. . . .85% 2. Heaven and Hell (Performed by: Born of Fire)- Sounds like a decent dio clone with a decent band. Nothing special. . . .80%3. Hole in he Sky (Performed by: Order of the illuminati)- Faster version sounding song, Dio-ish vocals. . . .80% 4. Into the Void (Performed by: Silencer)- Decent fast sound. destorted a little more than the normal version. . . .75%5. Born Again (Performed by: Tea Bag)- The vocalist comes close to the Deep Purple vocalist which is a plus. Being the only time I've seen Born Again covered, I was pleased to see a young band try such a cover. They performed it well. . . .95%6. Neon Knights (Performed by: Powergod)- Perfect Dio clone vocalist, and the same with the rest of the band. Infact it's almost too close! . . .80% 7. The Sign of the Southern Cross (Performed by: Death Omen)- Decent copy. the band seems to give it a nice sound. But not super. . . .85% 8. Lady Evil (Performed by: Division)- Sort of rougher vocals but sounds basicly like a clone of the normal version of the song. . .80% 9. Never Say Die (Performed by: Imagika)- I like to say 2 things about this one. first being that the cover was decent but not super due to style. Second being that this band should have picked something more rough like their sound they make. . . .85%10. Wheels of Confusion (Performed by: New Eden)- this sounds just like the normal version but the vocals are a tad better than Ozzy's I feel. . . .90%11. Black Sabbath (Performed by: Mudslinger)- Think of vocals of a mix of Peter Steele of Type O Negative and Phil of Pantara. The rest of the band covers the song perfectly normal. . . .90%If you like this album I would suggest: Getting the whole Black Sabbath catalogue including the following: (Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Masters of Reality, Vol 4, Sabbatage, Never Say Die, Heaven ad Hell, Mob Rules, Born Again.)and also, NIB -tribute to Black Sabbath.

Customer Reviews:
Hauntingly Brilliant.......2006-10-17
So I'm working in a record store in 1978. I am into folk music, progressive rock, punk rock, classic rock, jazz and classical, and electronic avant garde. (I still own four thousand lp's, that live in a rock maple and walnut custom made shrine--together with the David Perry stereo--but that's another story)
This little beauty comes into the store and it looks good. I don't know how people discover new music today but it used to be about browsing the 12" covers and reading the copy on the back. Having the privelige of listening to any album I desired, I sliced this one open and it got my attention. Eventually, it broke my heart. Some years later I would sit with a bottle in my hand crying over this album.
Robin Williamson was part of a brilliant accoustic duo called the incredible string band back in the sixties. He returns in the late seventies with the Merry Band, kind of an accoustic Celtic Folk orchestra. They are diverse, fantastic musicians and the combination is still quite fresh.
But it's the lyrics that got me. Here is a little sample:
"Some of us died, some got dry, here am I still singing on the stage-
I never turned my cheek but I turned the page, and watched the way the wind blows"
Brilliant, deep and quite often laugh out loud funny--the Merry Band is a real treat. Robin is a Scientologist, but he'll get over that someday.
persevere

recommended for those who can get REBEL RADIO .......2007-07-10
Rebel Radio's Scott Davidson plays drums for this band and I met the guy at Gothicfest 2005 when I was being interviewed by Gashley Darcane. I was given my copy by the former room mate, but if I wasn't given my copy I would went out and bought it. It is a hard to find CD these days but it is one of those that's been out a few years too. Scott was responsible for putting the show that VOIVOD did in June 1996 up in Streamwood, Illinois, that I was lucky enough to meet them. I am blown away at how strong of a band his own band is, and you want to listen to something cool this is it.
He's one of the most down to earth guys I know personally and he's sponsoring the event I am signing at in October so I have to do a review of this one. Vocally you will think the Tony Martin era Black Sabbath when listening to the CD and the opening track alone will bring to mind some of the bands that he grew up on. Downright heavy stuff with melodic vocals, smart lyrics too with a real imagination behind them -- the lyrics will read like a short story when looking at it all together.
Between Novembers Doom, Trouble, Empyrean Sky and Stonehenge -- Big Chicago will remind why heavy metal is alive and well here. I've been editing my anthology while this CD is in the player. Scott is true the metal scene here, and the heavy metal scene loves him here because of his contributions to both heavy metal radio and this CD.
This album is now eleven years old but it holds up well against a lot of these newer bands. Stonehenge came out with this album during the time when heavy metal bands wanted to sound like Korn or Limp Bizkit (not blasting KoRn here, but every metalhead in Chicago knows that Limp Bizkit is a running joke in the area because of the lemon being pitched high speed at Fred Durst. Hitting him right between his family jewels too.)
So hearing this album, it takes people back to the way heavy metal should sound. This is Metal the way Chicago remembers metal. And being from Chicago, Illinois, I appreciate this kind of metal.
Dark Tones.......2000-09-19
This album is full of well written thought provacotive lyrics. The sound that they achieve here is very dreamy and dark, the overtones just wisk you away. I recommend it!

Disappointed!.......2005-01-24
I really enjoyed 'Pharaoh: Sound of Mystery', but was rather disappointed with this title (Stonehenge) - it is very 'bland' and non-imaginative...
Mystical, mysterious, peaceful.......2001-08-17
Mystical, mysterious, peaceful, Stonehenge is the perfect CD for a quiet afternoon at the computer or a peaceful evening with a friend. Light the candles, start up the sage, lay back and relax to the magickal sounds of celtic bliss. Take a few meditative moments to process the reading you've been doing. I will definitely use this CD on solstices, equinoxes, sabbats and full moons. Guaranteed to inspire creativity!
Rave review for Mystic Sound's Stonehenge.......2000-07-09
Stonehenge site has truly a mystic effect on everyone who goes there and it seems to me Mystic Sound Orchestra has captured that incredibly well in sound. Thank you for the opportunity to say so. I look forward to hearing more music recorded by the Orchestra. Esther Munroe Swift
