4 out of 5 stars Grows on you immensely! [new CD even better].......2002-10-18

I love this album more now than last year even when it came out. It's so refreshing and honest, beautiful harmonies and instrumentation, and not overdone production like most pop out there. They have their own sound as well. I highly recommend this and their new CD that came out in May 2002. Definitely pick up a copy of this album if you like real, beautiful, fresh music.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent release by a wonderful young band.......2002-04-21

When I first ran across Late Tuesday ..., I knew I had to hear this whole album. I quickly went to their website ...and ordered the album. When it came in the mail, I was NOT disappointed. Every song has a great feel to it.

Wonderful harmonies, excellent musicianship, and a set of well written songs makes this album one of my favorites, as well as one of my wife's favorites. If you are a fan of such artists as Indigo Girls, The Story, Jonatha Brooke, or October Project, we can't recommend this album to you enough!

We can't wait to get their second album, Looking for Flowers Again, and we have already pre-ordered it! Don't miss this album!

    Product Description

Basic tracking for Tuesday Afternoon was completed at Rubal’s Seventh Wave Studio, with the track “Lie to Me” recorded at MoonTree Studio, (owned by guitarist Chad Taylor of Live) and the piano-based song “Farewell” recorded at DC’s prestigious Cue Studio (Dave Matthews Band, Garbage, 311). Tuesday Afternoon was then mastered by John Golden (Primus, Sonic Youth, Mike Watt) in Ventura, CA. With a perfectly sequenced mix of ballads, mid-tempo anthems and hard rocking fan favorites, Tuesday Afternoon reflects the broad, cross genre appeal of Showin’ Tell’s brand of rock. From Nicolino’s pummeling cadences that introduce the classic hard rock groove of “Better Off” to the simple acoustic guitar and hand percussion accompaniment of “Lie To Me” the album offers a flavor to please every palette. On “What If?” a guitar heavy ballad about unforeseen complications arising from infidelity, Jeska’s voice recalls the smoldering, sultriness of The Motels’ Martha Davis. “Removed You” (Rubal’s choice as a personal favorite) was also included on Adoration, but has received a revamped arrangement for Tuesday Afternoon. Says Jeska of her songwriting process, “All of my songs are personal. Nothing is exactly my story, but my lyrics paint a picture inspired by my experience, which I then adapt so the song can apply to anyone going through a similar situation. To start though, the lyrics have to be in my heart. I can’t write something I’m not feeling.” Rubal’s success at translating the energy of Showin’ Tells live performance to CD is best heard on the track “Medicine,” a slow grooving revenge fantasy highlighted by Jeska’s torchy vocals, Nic’s percussive nuances and Derek’s rhythmic undertow. “Medicine” is one of those songs that are recognizable from the first chord I play,” says Jeska. “It’s a favorite of the hardcore fans that come to our shows every week and as soon as I hit that first chord they get into it and start dancing. It’s awesome to hear people singing along with our songs.”

Late Tuesday: Looking for Flowers Again

The melodies soar and the harmonies ascend throughout this a capella folk-pop collection. I'd like to call it "11 songs full of grace and empowering music to lift you up at any given time." This Washington state trio hits every note with perfection, swapping vocal spotlights and instruments to create this musical jewel. You could compare them to Maren Ord or Natalie Merchant, but you'd still be way off. "Crazy" is my favorite track, and in it, the girls sing, "I know it sounds crazy/But I feel so much/And I don't' know what to do with myself/But I like being where you are." All of the songs have such intense background vocals that you feel as if you're sitting atop a mountain with the sunshine on your face...yes, seriously. "Flowers or Honesty" has a bonafide hometown feel to it, while "Looking Through Rosy Glasses" is a sweet, melodic tune. They may not appeal to everybody, but I think the majority of female vocalist worshippers will like what they hear. Personally, I think they're the best thing to come out of Washington since grunge. Be on the lookout-another album which promises to be even better will be out in time for 2004.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing talent and a real class act.......2003-01-03

Did you ever have an album that had almost every song relate to something or everything that has happened in your life? Did it move you and make you tell everyone about this amazing record and you just played the songs over and over again? Like the it was the soundtrack of your life? Then you have to hear this amazing album! Late Tuesday is a MUST see and hear band from Bellingham, Washington. These girls have this amazing ability to write music that is so enchanting, lyrically moving, and beautiful that to quote a friend who hear them sing live, (and by the way they sound even MORE amazing live) "They're Angels!"

They truly are. Playing their own instruments with ease and grace. The girls have a sense of style that is all their own. With hypnotic songs like, "I Do", to playful and fun "Everything Means Nothing", this album showcases a great girl band that breaks the norm. Considered, Sarah McLachlan meets the Dixie Chicks and Sixpence None the Richer, this is a band that you will hear about very, very soon.

4 out of 5 stars beautiful harmonies, great songs!.......2003-01-03

if you like harmonies, interesting lyrics, and well...good music, i'd recommend picking this indie bands second CD up. i've got both and love this one more than the first. just hope they get down to Cali sometime soon! (they sound a bit like Sarah, Indigo Girls, and others but are unique).

I LOVE THIS CD! I think it's my favorite Christmas CD of all time. The happiness is bittersweet since Late Tuesday is disbanding. I still love the girls. "Storybook Beautiful" is so poetic and brings tears to my eyes, makes me think of magical snow falling and making everything clean again.

5 out of 5 stars An old(in years) "Late Tuesday" fan.......2004-07-04

This is really great music. I first heard this on Internet radio. I bought one album and now I have all three. I liked this group so much; I went to there show in the middle of Washington. This was a 1360-mile trip, and I wasn't disappointed, it was great. I believe I like the " Looking for Flowers Again" album a little more than this one. Others have described the music better than I can, but I can say it is very up-building music.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect music for life.......2004-05-24

Late Tuesday is one of those bands where EVERY song on the album is great. I keep all of their albums in my car becuase I know, no matter what mood I'm in I will always want hear them. I came across them by chance online. I listened to a song and promptly bought the album on Amazon.com. After listening to it over and over and over, I bought the other two albums! I can't wait for the next one. Their music is beautiful, folky, funky, pop-y, and you can tell they know what they're doing. I think I've heard them on a show like Smallville or Gillmore Girls or something. Anyway I recommend all of their albums.
