About the Artist
For more than a decade, Eric Lowen & Dan Navarro have written, recorded and toured for a growing national audience.Their five CDs showcase self-penned songs of experience, colored by supple acoustic-based arrangements centered around their intertwined voices.Songwriters of notable cachet, their works have been recorded by artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (the worldwide Top 5 hit"We Belong"), The Bangles, The Four Tops, Dave Edmunds and a host of others. Out of their success as songwriters came the impetus for forming Lowen & Navarro in 1988: They wanted to sing their songs themselves.

In 1990, their debut, Walking On A Wire, was released by Chameleon Records to rave reviews. Produced by Jim Scott (BoDeans,Samples, Whiskeytown), the album built a radio base with the songs "Walking On A Wire" and "The Spell You're Under". In 1993,Parachute-Mercury Records issued the lovely Broken Moon.The disc was a hit at Triple-A radio with "All Is Quiet","Constant As TheNight" and "Just To See You".

With their fan base growing, Mercury purchased Walking On A Wire in 1994 and reissued it with three bonus tracks, including "Rapt In You", another Triple-A hit. They followed in 1995 with the enigmatic Pendulum, where their sound was honed to a fine edge by lean arrangements and a close vocal presence.

Signing with Intersound Records in 1997, they released Live Wire, a 1989 club performance that earned them their first pressattention and two record deals. Their most recent studio album, Scratch At The Door, was released in mid-1998. Self-produced, it addressed newsubjects as their lives have entered new phases. The first single, "When The Lights Go Down", is a wry ode to life in the middle lane and received substantial national airplay. Next came Live Radio in 2002, comprised of selections from four different appearances live on Howard and Roz Larmon's long running Folk Scene radio show on KPFK in Los Angeles. NPR's Bob Edwards hosted them on "Morning Edition to promote Live Radio and was quoted, " It was so great to interview a couple of guys who are neck deep integrity and oozing talent." Lowen & Navarro are currently preparing material for a new album, aiming for a January 2004 release.

Though their recordings are fine examples of their talent, it is through their live shows that they have built their greatest reputation. Whether as a duo or with rhythm section backing, they always deliver dynamic, emotional, uplifting performances to fiercely loyal audiences. Their trademark is a courageous "TFA" encore (totally. . . acoustic), dispensing with stage, sound systemand stage lighting, performed from the middle of the audience. It is a riveting experience that at first quiets and subsequently energizes an audience to a roaring ovation.

Through the years, Lowen & Navarro continue to document humanity's dignity and frailty, to examine life's losses and lessons. All conveyed with an urgency and immediacy that is the hallmark of their commitment to their music and their audience.

One of my new favorite Christmas CD's.......2006-01-09

Lowen and Navarro have a distinct vocal sound, and this CD stays true to their style. Their original songs are enjoyable as are their versions of old holiday favorites. My one disappointment with the CD is that there aren't more songs on it. I found myself wanting to hear more when the <30 minutes of music ended. Perhaps the CD was more of an obligatory exercise for them than a truly inspired recording effort. Nevertheless, if you're a fan of the group and you like Christmas music, this CD will not disappoint.
