Great Acoustic Album........2005-12-06

Vic Ruggiero is not only a talented pianist with The Slackers, but a wonderful solo guitarist. This album is great to listen to when you are just chillin' out. It's no "Wasted Days" or "Better Late Than Never", but it's a wonderful album.

Honestly, I don't get it.......2005-09-02

I was underwhelmed with this album when I got it. I'm still not crazy about it, and yet I reach for it more often than a lot of albums I like way better. I probably listen to this thing three times a week. That's more than I listen to Johnny Cash, Charlie Parker or Joe Strummer.
Vic's fun, but this is really pretty weak... just him strumming and singing, and yet... I can't stop listening. I can't even say which is my favorite song. They all kind of run together. The International War Criminal one is kinda naive, (and I'm a liberal!)
Ooh, um, the best line on the album is in the song about the house the animals take over. Vic says, "There's a big bullfrog in the head," in a real low, croaky voice. Makes me laugh every time. Must be guy humor.
So skip this one, or if not, play it a lot. I know I do, I just don't know why.

not quite slackers worthy.......2004-07-18

I was very excited to hear about this cd from one of our generation's very best songwriters. I was even more excited after looking at the track list because there were two songs I loved off of the very hard to get "Age of Insects". However, it should be noted that every song on this cd is acoustic, with no drums or keyboards in sight. I didn't expect the full slacker sound, but I did expect more from vic. Those two songs from Age of Insects? - Nowhere nowhere nowhere near as good as with a full band. buy this cd if you're a completist like me.

Buy this. If you've gone this far to pursue the Slackers singer/keyboardist's solo effort, you obviously dig the group, and you won't be let down. Just get it already. Neaty-O.
