5 out of 5 stars Love this CD!.......2007-07-16

If you like the Celtic Women you'll love this one by Chloe Agnew. She sings like an angel. It includes some of the best songs from the other CDs and includes several new ones.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful voice.......2007-07-01

Chloe has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. I love this album. I only wish this album had Chloe's rendition of Ava Maria. Chloe is only 18 or 19 and I can only imagine her voice becoming more beautiful as her vocal talents mature. She truly has the voice of an angel!

3 out of 5 stars her voice is too thin..........2007-06-21

Her voice not as satisfied as I expected. Bought this because I want the first song:
walking in the air. Her voice is good for this song, but for the rest of the songs, I think her voice is a little too thin, no strong emotion to support it.

5 out of 5 stars Walking in the Air - Chloe Agnew.......2007-06-20

A perfect choice of songs to showcase the talents of this young "Celtic Woman" soprano. It's a joy to listen to over and over and compliments the other solo CDs put out by the other individuals from the Celtic Women group. So much talent! I will look forward to Chloe's next solo CD.

1 out of 5 stars Celtic Woman #1.......2007-06-14

If you're going to own only one of the myriad of Celtic Woman CD's, this is the one. Yes, there's only one performer; however the range of musical selections is quite large and typical of the best fare on other Celtic Woman productions. It's become my first choice when I'm in this musical mood.

This five-track EP is clearly not intended to expand on Get Behind Me Satan, the Stripes' ambitious, ethos-stretching studio album that preceded it by a few months. Instead, the studio cover version and four recent live cuts culled together here seem equal parts roots-retrenchment and chronicle of Jack and Meg White's recent gig grooves. The title studio track (a cover of a standout from Canadian identical twin punk-pop duo Tegan and Sara's '04 "So Jealous" album) has been a fan favorite in recent Stripes set lists, and here Jack White invests it with a familiar, chunky-chorded foundation and equally solid vocal hooks, setting them off with evocative, just-this-side-of-Mars guitar breaks that pay tribute to Brit invasion heroes the Yardbirds. Hailing from June '05 Brazilian shows, the spare, stop/start "Screwdriver" finds Jack warbling in early Robert Plant mode, while his haunting acoustic take of White Blood Cells' "Same Boy I've Always Known" epitomizes much of the Stripes' stripped-down, back-to-the-future appeal. L.A. radio versions of Satan's gently infectious "As Ugly As I Seem" and the distortion-drenched "The Denial Twist" are forceful reminders that the Stripes' artistic bent may be minimalist, but its musical ambitions are anything but. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but inessential........2007-03-12

If you're new to the White Stripes, don't get this album. Get one of the five LP's, which are all incredible. This is more for people who are already fans of the band. I actually don't care a whole great deal for the cover of Tegan & Sara's hit "Walking with a Ghost," but it's alright. Actually, I liked the live tracks more. Even so, while they are all amazing Stripes songs, it is more like something intended for fans than anything else. I don't really think they're newer releases will be a template from this.

On the other hand, a new album, "Icky Thump" is coming out in awhile. We'll see how that one turns out.

5 out of 5 stars Great Holdover.......2006-03-20

The title track is great and the live cuts are classic White Stripes. Its a great buy to hold over until the next album comes out. See also "Under the Blackpool Lights" DVD.

4 out of 5 stars Walking with the ghost.......2006-03-06

Unsurprisingly, a new White Stripes album is going to overshadow a small live/cover EP like "Walking With A Ghost + 4 Live Tracks." But this little collection is worth checking out anyway,

It opens with a cover of indiepop sisters Tegan & Sara's "Walking With A Ghost," now White-Striped. This version is much hard-rockier and more angular, with jabs of rough guitar and wails from Jack White. Where Tegan and Sara sounded mildly perturbed by their "walking with a ghost," Jack sounds on the edge of breaking down completely. Steady there.

And, this having "+ 4 Live Tracks," we're then treated to some fairly good, low-key renditions of White Stripes tunes: a mellow version of "The Same Boy You've Always Known," where you can hear cheers and handclaps from the audience, the mournful "As Ugly As I Seem."

After the sorrowful pair of songs, we finally get some rockin'. Jack and Meg smash through the tune of "The Denial Twist," with snarly singing and lots of rough drums'n'bass. And after a hearty round of applause from the audience, they launch into the roaring bass of "Screwdriver."

Wedged in the midle of the last song is "Passive Manipulation," a solo where Meg sings, "Women, listen to your mothers/don't succumb to the wishes of your brothers..." Then Jack lets rip for one grand finale, a blast of raw vocals and equally raw instrumentation.

Well, the White Stripes know how to make their odds and ends worth the money -- smashing together a quirky cover with their live performance. While the cover is good -- not as enticing as the original, admittedly -- the live performance is what really rocks.

At first, things don't seem to be too energetic. Jack sounds very depressed, and only acoustic guitar and a few drums break through. But after a couple of very low-key songs, Meg and Jack start giving it their all. The result is absolutely electric -- kinetic music, ripping singing, and to judge from the applause, the audience loved it.

There's a muddy edge to the music, like many live performances, and it's a credit that their musical skills that the White Stripes can make this EP a good addition to any fan's collection. And yes, the cover is nice too.

4 out of 5 stars great stuff, especially for collectors.......2006-02-23

The live stuff on here is great, I can never hear enough versions of "Screwdriver".

The title track, a cover of a Tegan & Sara song, is great too. It actually served as a springboard for me to check out the original band, of whom I am now a big fan.

3 out of 5 stars If you have the entire collection, then you will want to add this one.......2006-02-01

The cover song was not what I expected, but then I had never heard the other version until recently. I like the Stripes version better. It's enjoyable.

This quintet that refers to itself as C-Sky represents a formidable addition to the progressive bluegrass brigade, combining a deep respect for tradition ("Never Been So Blue," in tribute to Bill Monroe) with expansive instrumental interplay (the complex time shifts of "Neighborhood Bully's Long Look in the Mirror"). Yet what most distinguishes the band is the strength and range of its songwriting, much of it by mandolinist-vocalist Bryan Simpson (whose material has been recorded by George Strait and Gretchen Wilson, among others). Whether telling the story of a convict who can't learn from his mistakes in "You Again," exploring the spiritual dimensions of the title track and the call-and-response "Sinners Welcome," or turning more playful on the over-caffeinated "Insomniac Blues for Matthew" and the picaresque romp of "Can't Trust the Weatherman," the songs extend the realm of bluegrass possibility. And the tight harmonies of "Motel Morning" show the band's vocal blend at its best. --Don McLeese

5 out of 5 stars Cadillac Sky Rocks!.......2007-04-23

I love this album. It is full of rocking bluegrass energy and the lyrics are poetical and evocative and fun. It is fun to sing along with and to dance to. These guys know how to write both with words and with their music. I've listened to it many times now, have yet to be tired of it. I can't wait until their next cd. I saw Cadillac Sky at Wintergrass this February, 2007, can't wait to see them live again!

5 out of 5 stars A real kick if prog-grass is your bag .......2007-02-14

Playing Time - 53:51 -- Record execs are always in search of the next big act to create a tsunami in the fairly stodgy and conservative bluegrass community. Ricky Skaggs heard Cadillac Sky and has decided to take a chance on them and their fresh, progressive brand of bluegrass. Penning all of their own material, C-Sky clearly has some country, Celtic and even rock influences. Only in existence since late-2002, the band doesn't have a long-tenured track record of success, but it's very likely that their supercharged vocals and novel sound will touch a nerve with younger listeners. At least, Skaggs thinks so. What he probably heard was their ability to be both precise and reckless, controlled but spontaneous, happy yet lonesome....in other words, the perfect ingredients for a young, unique bluegrass group. I think you'll agree with me. They're a real kick if prog-grass is your bag.

Bryan Simpson plays a pivotal role in the band's songwriting, lead singing, and mandolin playing. Simpson's songs have been recorded by George Strait, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Diamond Rio, Jo Dee Messina, Neal McCoy, and Kenny Rogers. He even bows fiddle on one track, "Never Been So Blue." The other stellar band members are Mike Jump (guitar, vocals), Matt Menefee (banjo), Ross Holmes (fiddle, vocals), and Matt Blaize (bass, vocals). National championship fiddle and banjo wins at Winfield, Kansas only add to the mystery and romanticism of this group.

The band's creativity and wild, boyish exuberance are a product of their familiarity with traditional bluegrass. In the CD jacket, one photo shows Simpson proudly displaying his Monroe T-shirt. This 13-song debut is certain to draw comparisons to the ground-breaking directions of Nickel Creek, New Grass Revival, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, and others. It's important that bands follow their inner muse. If band members can all share a common vision and have fun together while they're collaboratively moving ahead, then we'll have a strong purpose-driven group like C-Sky....what a fantastic futuristic name for such a band. But even if they're "mountain boys" at heart, they're motivated and eager to solidify their own musical persona. Already with this 13-song debut, I can tell you that it's characterized by considerable talent, maturity, and charisma. National press coverage, widespread airplay, extensive touring, a record contract, and a 2004 showcase at the IBMA World of Bluegrass Trade Show have people talking .... about an innovative progressive band that's easy to embrace. They're not out to reform bluegrass music but merely nudge it into the new century. They know about the lonesome soul of the genre, and in "Never Been So Blue" they eulogize Bill Monroe with "the twin fiddles play and the whippoorwill sings .... the bluegrass has never been so blue." Do you think they included this song, respectful of his music and legacy, just to appease those staunch traditionalists who think C-Sky is blasphemous? I doubt it.

And thanks guys for not including percussion in the mix...you don't need it. Sonya Isaacs' guest vocals on "Homesick Blues" are a nice touch, as is Kenneth Soper's didgereedoo on the title cut. When asked a standard canned interview question once about their influences, the band's reply was something to the effect that their music is just something that feels necessary. If the bluegrass genre is going to continue to grow and prosper with younger folks, then I think you'll understand that C-Sky is on somewhat of a mission to fulfill a purpose and need. 3 out of 5 stars Muffled.......2006-11-03

This is a decent enough recording, but it's not anywhere near the best that I have heard. The Andre Previn/LSO recording is much better mixed; at times it seems like there's a muffle on the mikes, or that you're hearing it from a distance.

If I wanted good, dynamic background music, I'd do this. If I wanted to really listen to the music, I'd pick another version.

3 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing........2003-09-10

I bought this for the full-length rendition of Rhapsody in Blue. I found the brass too tinny sounding, and the rhythm off in a few places. I like the snippet of this song on the "Best of the Milleneum" CD much better.

5 out of 5 stars Gershwin At His Best in Hearts!.......2003-03-19

To someone who came along as a teenage boy in the mid-1940's, this CD has the elements of authenticity, even surprise, musical history, highly intense performances, and ways evoking memories of emotional highlights of my Youth. When mediocre orchestra 1st tackled Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" at Smoky Mtn Music Camp we were preparing for Sunday's outdoor Concert. Pianos were played by two friends who've presided Music Dept at Carson-Newman College in East Tennessee. In the Trombone section was a skinny kid with too much hair and too big an ego! When our esteemed conductor began the opening bars the Clarinet Soloist, my close friend Danny Boy slide-up the chromatic scale with fleurish. He later became a NC Doctor! He likely plays clarinet for his own amazement in someone's Dixieland Band!

On this wondrous CD there are historic names like Bernstein, Kostelanez, John Williams and Michael Tilson Thomas, Conductors. Andre Previn, Yo-Yo Ma and Sarah Vaughan as Soloists. I would have a hard time choosing which may be called my favorite! It would depend on the day they are playing in my car... traveling to Columbia Seminary classes or GA Diagnostic Prison for lunch with Chaplain friends! I often sing along with the Rhapsody as I did in 1949 when Oscar Levant soloed with Chattanooga Orch. My very young wife was playing in the first violin section! Still today I am totally wiped out when anyone as intensely romantic as Sarah Vaughan sings "Summertime" or "I Loves You, Porgy!"

Is it not amazingly wondrous that someone could create so much enjoyable music in his short lifetime of 39 years? I never wish to part with this all-time favorite 10-Star Recording!
Retired Chaplain Fred W Hood

5 out of 5 stars The best America has to offer!!.......1999-03-09

This is the best collection of his songs i have ever heard. That's probably because it features conductors like John Williams and Micheal Tilson Thomas. My personal favorite is the allegro agitato from the Concerto in F. I have other recordings of this song, but none of them can even come close to matching the excitement of this one.

5 out of 5 stars Awsome.......2007-05-16

I've been following Bayside's music for a couple of years now and have most of their albums. I think that this one is the best by far. The entire album is awsome. You can tell by the meaningful lyrics and intricate guitar work that the band put a lot of thought and hard work into the album. A must have for anyone who even remotely likes Bayside.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2007-04-10

I think this is one of the best C.D.'s I have bought in a while. I liked Sirens and Condolences a bit so I preordered this albulm. When I got it was immediately hooked. It's much better than Sirens and Condolences. There are many knock out songs such as The Walking Wounded, I And I, Head On A Plate, Duality, and of course the amazing Landing Feet First. This is an albulm I can play on my ipod and let it go all the way through. It's a full albulm of catchy songs, good melodies, and pretty decent lyrics.

5 out of 5 stars Great New CD (review from a Non-Bayside Fan).......2007-03-20

OK, since this is the first time I've heard them, this review definitely would apply to the non-Bayside seasoned fan, if that makes sense.

This CD is great. It's kind of like a mix between My Chemical Romance and Panic at the Disco... only a bit softer. I am a fan of FOB, The Summer Obsession and others including pioneers Jimmy Eat World.

If you like all those I just mentioned, then this CD will find favor in your CD rotation.

As to the claims that Bayside has gone soft; that is very possible, but like I said, this is my first CD and after stumbling onto them I am extremely happy that I can write a run-on sentence about how I love this CD.

This CD is now in the CD-player ready for Spring to kick in.

5 out of 5 stars My Friend........2007-03-07

This is a wonderful album. I think most people who reviewed this album spent more time listening to the self titled record. I think this album is a pleasent departure from the sound that self titled bayside brought to us. It is not entirely different. But yes in lyrical content it is a LOT less depressed. But i think this is not a tottaly new thing for the band at all. Sirens and Condolences had its fair share of positive punches and pop driven chorus and melody. As a true believer of bayside i would reccomend this album to anyone. Bayside is a band that makes me still have faith in music. Good honest meaningful music. I know this band is often clasiffied as an Emo but i think it is an understatement. This band has a unique sound that is their own. I would compare their sound to the smoking popes, or the smiths.

5 out of 5 stars Maybe five stars was a little generous.......2007-02-20

Is it just me or has Bayside gotten soft? I don't just mean musically (after all, who doesn't love their acoustic ep?) but lyrically as well. Don't get me wrong, this is a great album...but I miss the bayside that hated love and used morbid metaphors to describe pain and loneliness. The lyrics are actually a bit corky at times anyway...as if they really wanted to say something mean but chose to be polite instead. It just doesn't flow as their previous songs have...which means that I will most likely get tired of half of the songs as they seem to follow the same path that many other bands in the genre have...by writing catchy songs with little substance...which means I most likely won't be listening to this album three months from now...at least not in it's entirety.
To be fair however, I think the writing has matured a bit and the message has grown a little more optimistic. A year and a half ago when they released their self titled LP, they painted a picture of a band frustrated but hopeful with a firm resolve to not only stay in the game, but to not allow circumstances to control them. With this CD we see the same resolve, and yet not nearly as frustrated...Perhaps after adjusting to their bandmates death last year, they have decided to focus on more important, worthwhile things...while at times even shifting their focus to matters of faith with honest integrity.
One of my favorite songs on the album is "Dear Holiness" in which they do just that...determining to stay strong even if they feel alone. Perhaps this is when the writing gets the best, when they approach it with so much honesty, that even the "holiest" of people could actually relate to it even when the message leaves off at doubting God and putting faith in oneself.
I admit the band seems a little too comfortable with their own originality and doesn't earn any credit by taking credit for "bringing music back to music", but they still delivered a solid album that is still worth a spot in any collection.

The Jerkins Crew, J Moss, Smokie Norful are among the producers on this all-too-brief project. While none of the 10 songs are standouts, all of them are memorable and original with the exception of the opening cut, which is too obviously an R. Kelly/"God's Grace" ripoff. Just when you're getting into some of them, they fade out a bit too quickly ... and the set list is already short. But brevity beats bloatedness.

While Vanessa's voice has changed a bit -- it's been nearly 25 years since "Peace Be Still" -- overall it's held up well over time. The quality of her tone and flexibility still really can't be compared to anyone else (besides the obvious Aretha influence) and for the most part it's hard to believe you're listening to someone in her 50's. If you liked the way she sounded on her 2001 set "Brand New Day" you'll like the way she sounds here.

I have only one problem with this set, being a HUGE fan of 'Nessa's voice. Those lovely and soulful ad-libs are sometimes buried so far down in the mix that you really have to listen extra hard to hear what she's doing vs. the background vocalists. Why did the producers or execs feel that was necessary? Yes, there are some imperfections here and there but that's often where the character and passion are.

Regardless, most people won't mind that. I am grateful for the messages, ministry and music that Ms. Armstrong delivers on WALKING MIRACLE. Recommended for anyone that wants a time capsule of choice contemporary gospel circa 2007 delivered by a phenomenal vocalist who still has much to offer.

5 out of 5 stars Love It Love It.......2007-04-06

I really enjoyed this CD and I think everyone should go and get it
Vanessa is singing only the way Vanessa can sing

2 out of 5 stars She's back but too uptempo.......2007-03-31

I believe that Vanessa is a talented gospel singer who needs to stop singing what the record companies make her and stick to her roots as a traditional gospel singer. I was glad to hear she had a new record, but if you are looking for the Old Vanessa, then you will be disappointed. On some cuts, her voice reaches the heavens. But for most of the CD her talents are wasted on songs that do not play to her distinctive vocal prowess. If she MUST go uptempo, then have John P. Kee produce her.

5 out of 5 stars She's Back!.......2007-03-11

My all time fav has returned with her anointed voice and over the top talent. This won't leave my player for a while. From classic to new school, she does it all!

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal!!!!!.......2007-02-28

I was kinda skeptical about this project at first because I was unsure about the selection of producers for the project, but VANESSA DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!
I love this project from start to finish. Vanessa is giving the vocals that we all know and love from her! She is just wearing this material out. Clearly one of the best releases so far of 2007. This will certainly hold me over until the release of the Clark Sisters new project!!!

Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn of Everything but the Girl have done their share of style-hopping, from jazz pop to Britpop to orchestral pop to contemporary R&B to jazzy R&B. Their seventh album, 1996's Walking Wounded, finds the duo landing, good as new, onto the dance floor with a batch of songs based around techno-derived beats. The shift toward electronics may seem extreme for a group that courted adult audiences, but given the huge success of their 1994 beat-driven remix single "Missing" and their fruitful collaborations on Massive Attack's breakthrough trip-hop record Protection, the rewards of embracing club sounds had already been well proven. Everything but the Girl's music has always focused on Thorn's lush, soulful voice--a tribute to its versatility, it weathered well through all the group's stylistic incarnations. Walking Wounded, however, introduces a second focal point in the insanely attractive, intricately sculpted beats of the jungle offshoot drum & bass. On cuts like "Before Today," "Single," and the title track, the interaction of a beat's minutely detailed rhythms and a voice that rides smoothly over the top makes for an elegant symbiosis. And even with the help of progressive dance specialists like Howie B. and Spring Heel Jack, Everything but the Girl retains a maturity that shouldn't alienate old fans. --Roni Sarig

5 out of 5 stars Stands the test of time.......2007-03-09

I originally bought this CD when it first came out and instantly fell in love with it. It dissapeared from my collection about 5 years ago and I have missed it since. I recently just purchased the album again and am very happy to see that the songs are just as charming and enchanting as they were 10 years ago. While drum and bass has faded into musical obscurity, the album does not fall into the trap of sounding dated. A timeless wonderfully enjoyable album from start to finish. Mirrorball and The Heart Remains a Child are true delights on the ears.
To resort to an cliche, if I were trapped on a desert island this would, without question, be on my list of must have albums.

5 out of 5 stars wonderful.......2006-11-16

I am a huge everything but the girl fan...I have all of their albums and I have to say that this is one of their best...not one song on here is bad...I also have to say that you can't go wrong buying any of their albums...

5 out of 5 stars One of the best records of the 1990's.......2006-10-09

This is one of the best albums of the 1990's. If you thought major labels couldn't put out creditable artistry then you were wrong. After EBTG's massive reinvention as a cutting edge dance music act "walking wounded" finds the duo at the full helm of this new direction. Not since New Order had I heard electronic dance music this human and this senstitive. At the peek of the dance/electronica 90's explosion, when bold and adventurous sub-genres were mutating like viruses and the human had fully re-taken the machine along came Everything But the Girl. Here they add even more soulful, existential, thoughful lyrics about love, loss, and urban life. And underneath lies a breathtaking arrangement of truely cutting edge and even avantgarde electronic dance music. A total classic.

5 out of 5 stars What a voice!.......2006-09-27

Tracey Thorn simultaneously melts and heals the heart--a singular and unique talent achieved by relatively few singers. In tone and timbre, her voice strongly recalls former Fleetwood Mac stalwart Christie McVie, but Thorn's is far more emotionally-driven. She and her partner, Ben Watts, craft the kind of songs that effortlessly weave in and out of the often complex ironies of life and love, large and small. The beats that drive and thunder through "Walking Wounded" are at times so insistent that they suggest irregular heart palpitations. "Wrong" willfully echoes their huge pop/dance club hit "Missing." Elsewhere, Thorn's melancholic affect belies the cockiness of "Before today." "Good Cop, Bad Cop" and "Single" agonize over the merits of companionship versus independence. And, best of all, "Mirrorball" ponders--and then essentially reconciles--missed possibilities. As one of EBTG's best efforts, "Walking Wounded" effectively showcases Tracey Thorn's devastatingly beautiful voice, which pricks the heart and soothes the mind.

5 out of 5 stars sad and amazing.......2006-05-09

it's very hard to make songs so personal resonate for others. tracy thorn does. the score and the beats in back of her voice are stunning in their restraint. best cut from this album? pssh, pick any one. it's wonderful all the way through.

I actually use this when I'm on my gazelle by Tony Little. Doing 30 minutes on that is BORING so I needed something to keep me going and this works great. The beat is clear and consistent so you don't get offbeat.

3 out of 5 stars Not his best...but don't pass it up........2007-02-02

As someone who's been a JT fan since Day One, this must be said: Every artist that I love has put out at least one weak album in his/her/their career. This would have to be one of James' weaker efforts (along with FLAG), but it would hardly deserve being tossed into the circular file. As I stated when I reviewed this for iTunes, there are some real clunkers on this album, and it makes me wonder what made James include them on what is otherwise another great 70's JT release. For me, the gems on here are the title track (one he thankfully still performs in concert), Let It All Fall Down, Migration, Fade Away, and ESPECIALLY Daddy's Baby. Lord, what a beautiful piece of music that is. Every dad in the world who's a musician must have wished they could write a lullaby like that for their own children. Easily one of the most gorgeous, priceless acoustic guitar ballads James has EVER written. The Vox Humana (vocal synthesizer) coda at the end of the song will send pleasant chills down your spine and maybe bring a tear to your eye.

So here's the bottom line: James has never put out a terrible album--it's not in his nature to do that. There are just other records in his library that are better than this one. But DO NOT pass on this one; for the beautiful songs in here alone, it belongs in your JT library.

5 out of 5 stars Strong and Potent James Taylor Album.......2006-02-23

I believe this album contains James Taylor's strongest strains of DNA... featuring Paul and Linda
McCartney, it has the glow of an established songwriter on par with The Beatles.
As another reviewer stated, James Taylor delivers a kind of intensity that offers no apologies to its fans...
at times it groves on things for a long period of time and uses
experimentally synthesized voices..

One can also tell that this album is quite personal based on the poignant and direct lyrics..
It also displays Taylor's quintessential compositional form.. he uses lots of overlaying textures with a
wide variety of tasteful light au naturale rock.. there's this strong jazzy feeling on the whole album
and sometimes, the jazz takes risky,
surprising and beautiful turns.. plus, there has been no other rock musician who harmonizes
with himself more tastefully than James Taylor and that is clearly evident on Walking Man... there are some stunning harmonies

4 out of 5 stars A more electric type of "sweet baby james".......2006-01-04

What I really love about this album is because it is electric taylor but it still truly maintains that awesome charm and beauty of Sweet baby James. It is not electric like "gorilla" or "In the pocket" which are good discs, but this is a more "tasteful electric". Taylor alters between ballads with strings, ballads with horns and ballads with himself, as well as jazz and folk. Not bad James! Paul and Linda McCartney as well as Carly simon are featured on a lot of songs and it gives the album a great feel. The album has 10 songs which for this type of album is perfect. You will be hooked with the first 5 songs. However, song 4 "me and my guitar" has awful lyrics but still a nice hook. skip "ain't no song"-he didn't even write it and go onto the beautiful "Hello old friend". By then you have 3 songs left and they are all soothing. the album has a few loose ends but once it's over you'll be glad you've listened to it.

4 out of 5 stars A must have for your JT collection.......2005-12-03

While this may not his best album,it has some excellent songs on it.The good songs are Walking man,Let it all fall down, the beautiful Daddys baby, written for his daughter Sarah Maria,Aint no song,Hello old friend and the mesmerizing Migration. When he sings the part,''BUT LOUD AND REALLY CLEAR'',the background harmony is hauntingly beautiful. The other four songs arent that bad either. This probably didnt go gold since there was no hit single from it.Still its one of my favorites.
