Ben Weaver has a truly unique gift for music. With a rough, sturdy narrative he breathes life into the images and characters of his stories using old time flare and a bittersweet honesty. His band plays tightly and reservedly behind him, keeping a steady root in the country/folk flavor of his lyrics. The banjo, mandolin, and fiddle blend together with the vocals to form a sensual texture you almost see, touch, and smell. Weaver offers a bold look into the struggles and hopes of everyday people - he's worth checking out by anyone who appreciates an old porch and a good conversation. I highly recommend El Camino Blues as well.
