Product Description
Allow us to take a bit more space than we usually would for one recording, as it is a recording we not only feel will be critically acclaimed, but is also one of great importance in its origin and purpose...

The artist community out of Colorado Springs known as "Blue Renaissance Creative Group" is a non-profit organization which consists of the folk ensemble 100 Portraits, acoustic fusion band Calling Cedar, and several other independent artists, all holding a global vision for reaching the lost through music. They evolved organically apart from the music industry as an expression of the Body of Christ from this generation. They brought us the Enter The Worship Circle recording last year, something they threw together to document their worship time together. Astonishingly, that rough recording captured in a make-shift studio in an old house has sold over 70,000 copies.

Without much change, and paying little attention to the success of the previous recording, 100 Portraits, joined by other Blue Renaissance artists as well as Will Hunt of Apt.core, returns with more of their original and down to earth worship-oriented songs... this time with the same name, simply being distinguished by the sub-title Second Circle. Several of the folks from Blue Renaissance have often traveled to third world countries to share their talents in the outreach efforts of indigenous churches. In recent visits to India, they were inspired by the native instruments and songs found among the village churches, and in fact documented some of the sounds they encountered, mixing select portions of those samples into the new recording.

Driving Indian rhythms intertwine with fresh, intimate, uninhibited expressions of love and worship to create this ground-breaking album, using instruments such as tablas, dumbeks, an amazing sitar, and who knows what else. With all original songwriting, even a few seemingly improv lyrical inspirations captured during the live studio recording, Second Circle allows you to join the musicians in their realization of how deep, wide, and amazing the love of God is. This collection of passionate songs reflects a desire for simplicity and spontaneity in worship, with its use of basic instruments and genuine expression. Hand percussion and acoustic guitars, simple arrangements, and a new world of looping-rhythm sections blend throughout every track creating a beautiful tapestry. Blue Renaissance is designating a dollar from each sale to go to Christian orphanages and schools in India-- one US dollar is the equivalent of an entire day's wages in India.

Every once in a while something truly different comes forth from creative wombs by the grace of God, with power enough to change the way you think about music, worship, life... this is that something. We give it our strongest recommendation.

Second Circle,Enter the Worship Circle,Enter the Worship Circle,Blending the sounds of India with acoustic instruments from around the world this "live" recording is a multi-cultural journey into the world of worship.

5 out of 5 stars great for entering in to worship and His presence.......2007-05-26

This CD is really great and deep in worship for our Lord. It really helped to awaken and engage my heart in Jesus and His love. I really treasure the times I've been able to spend just listening to this cd in my room + worshiping Him. Of all of my favorite worship albums, this is one of the best I've yet heard. Some other great ones like this are "The World Can Wait" by the Merchant Band, Misty Edward's cd's, "I Can't Wait" by Various Artists (might only be available at ihop.org), the WOW greatest Worship songs, and "Worship" by Micheal W. Smith.

5 out of 5 stars crying worship.......2004-02-25

this album has been such a blessing to me! the songs on this cd are so prayerful, thankful, meditative and heartfelt! for anyone in need of pure worship in tears to God, this is it.

5 out of 5 stars Not one to pass up........2003-11-29

When I first purchased this cd off of Amazon, I was already familiar with the first circle. I had actually bought this cd for a friend of mine for her birthday. a little later, I got a chance to listen to the same songs and borrow the cd in depth. (Ok, I admit it, she burned it for me.)
Were my expectations high? Yep. Were my expectations met?
Oh yeah.
It's really hard to write a review on a worship cd, because a worship cd is either kinda dull, and you like the sound of the songs, but you dont really get anything out of it, or it blows you away. And I have to say, that the songs on this cd have blown me away, and brought me to a deeper level of worship. (If any of you gifted people who helped produce this cd are reading this, then thank you for moving in the spirit.) But, I wanted to write a short review for those of you who may be interested in this but are not sure.
The cd starts off in much of the same style as the first circle with the song I Will Bow. the first 6 tracks on this cd are incredibly powerful words that are spoken directly to God. Especially, in my opinion, Near to you, and Faithful. Rush River Rush, and Praise Awaits You, (Tracks 7 and 8) are incredible worship songs. Lost Art of Living was a bit of a culture shock to me at first. It's style is actually more eastern. But its really a cool song/poem. The rest of the songs are awesome, and I had to dance to All I Need, and I Cannot Hide My Love.
The style of the music is hard to describe for me. If you just wont listen to music without heavy guitar or drums, then you wouldnt enjoy this cd for its musical value, although there are some sweet guitar chords and combinations in here. Most of the stuff is soft, and even the faster songs are very rythmic. but if your just looking for an awesome cd to worship God to, then I would recommend this to you as a valuable treasure, and an excellent addition or start to your worship collection.

5 out of 5 stars Heavenly choir.......2003-07-05

Absolutely gorgeous a capella quartet. Stunning and soothing music. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Landini; the dawn of the Renaissance.......2003-04-27

True to thier artistry the A4 conveys Landini as a courtly master; subtle and flowing. Thier singing radiates with the freshness of May.

Landini can be likened to Duccio as Palistrina to Giotto. Duccio is not a painter of angles or the other-worldy but humans on earth. Yet they are not humanized in the Renaissance sense for they lack rotunda and gravity. Rather, they are delicate and "float" and retain something of the soaring intensity and expressive flavor of Medieval art. Yet they are very human and with Duccio as with Landini one can perceive the dawn of the Renaissance.

Like a sunset to sunrise the CD ends with the piece it began (Echo la primavera) singing it with more expansion and reflection. Not bad since the piece is so short. Perhaps the A4 wants to convey an end of a journey or "My end is my begining."

While I'm more used to this music with instruments, at least
portative organ this being Landini, Anonymous 4's is what used to be called a valid perfomance. The snatches of documentation for performance practice we have of this period certainly don't rule out an all vocal approach. I've been a musician long enough to know that given the material and the ability of the musicians they will try everything and I'm sure all vocal renditions were done if an instrument wasn't available. Landini was a part of a rather refined group and his music is very subtle. You can't perform his music as if it was a contra dance without distorting it.
While I'm disappointed, and frankly amazed, that anyone could use this a background music for reviewing a paper it isn't the fault of either the listener who can do what he likes or of the preformers who do a good job.
The performance is very good their intonation is some of the best.

    Album Description

On his second outing, tenor saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin hones a beautifully dark tone and fetching sense of melody that immediately recalls the glory of Blue Note. Consistently soulful, the Turkish raised Ersahin's playing closes the circle between the jazz of American post-bop explorers like Coltrane and Yusef Lateef and Middle Eastern modal music.

        Album Description

This is Intonarumori's first full length release. The project has been around since 1990. This is an unusual album for Intonarumori because it represents material that was all recorded live in concert recorded straight from Intonarumori's board. Listening to the album it's almost impossible to believe that the first three pieces were all recorded by one person. There are layers and shifting textures, ambiences and spaces. The second half of the album represents a work created for small chamber ensemble (Cello, Violin, Toy Piano, Found Percussion, and two vocalists) to celebrate Paul Celan. A very different sound and very unexpected from Intonarumori.

This album is a marvel. Beautiful and challenging at the same time. Not for the closed-minded. In the top ten of my CD collection.

5 out of 5 stars The other reviewer was talking about the wrong album.......2000-06-15

Their are No beats on this album, go to the Material album if that is what you want. This album is about soundscapes and textured spaces, more post-classical than post-hip-hop.

5 out of 5 stars THE AGE OF REVELATIONS.......2000-05-17

Classic. The Killah Priest recited scriptures are enough for the price tag alone, featuring an ill assemblage of M.C.'s ranging from Flavor Flav, Indelible M.C.'s, and others. The beats are sick the rhymes are sicker, Intonarumpri is a prophecy bible. Cop it! You won't be sorry for long...

This is Bill Horist's second release for Unit Circle Rekkids. His first, Soylent Radio, was an amazing exploration of sonic weirdness translated through wild guitar manipulations. Bill's style has certainly grown and his abilities have expanded in the three years since Soylent. Bill takes his patented guitar manipulations technique and expands his palette into new soundscapes and more rhythmic and textural possibilities.

I really love music. Sometimes good music makes me freak out (and crash my car for example). Of my 400-500 CDs, Songs from the Nerve Wheel is in my top 10 or 5. This CD is so good, I just have to turn it off sometimes, because I feel like I'm not ready for it yet. Plus, if you get the chance, see Bill Horist in concert. It's amazing.

4 out of 5 stars The future of the electric guitar?.......2000-08-30

Seattle prepared guitar maven Bill Horist has hit his stride on his second release. With a battered Teisco, an arsenal of rack effects and stomp boxes, and a bizarre assortment of metal and wooden objects, surgical instruments and cymbals Horist creates lush percussive and droning soundscapes, 11 of which have been documented on this CD.

Songs From The Nerve Wheel will certainly challenge many listeners' definitions of what constitutes music, but that doesn't mean that these atonal and microtonal explorations are the work of a cool snobbish aesthete. In fact, Horist brings a refreshing amount of enthusiasm to his music, and it shows.

While no recording could possibly capture the visual element of Mr. Horist molesting his guitar and pedals, the sounds captured on this disc stand on their own quite well. This CD is challenging, rewarding listening, and is well worth picking up.
