Product Description
Who said "They ain't making Jews like Jesus anymore"? It was, of course, country music's resident iconoclast Kinky Friedman. These days, you'll find more Kinky Friedman books in bookstores than Kinky Friedman records in record stores. We're trying to change that by issuing his historic second and third LPs together on one CD. The second LP included the now-classic They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore, as well as Kinky's version of Billy Swan's hit song Lover Please (Rock-a-Billy Swan had served an apprenticeship with Kinky). By the time of the third LP, Kinky was on Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue and had moved to Dylan's record label. Dylan gave him a song he had yet to record, Catfish (dedicated to the great baseball pitcher Catfish Hunter), Eric Clapton was on hand to play guitar, and Ringo Starr did a narration on one song. It was an all-star event, and, like the second LP, has never been reissued in Europe.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent reissue.......2006-12-28

Here we have the Kinkster's 1974 self-titled album and "Lasso From El Paso" from 1976, plus 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks.
Top notch packaging as usual from the German 'Bear Family' label.
Get this and the remastered "Sold American" (1973) and you'll have Kinky's finest (recorded) work.

5 out of 5 stars Love Kinky.......2006-11-04

Great CD. Never realized Kinky was so good. I play this CD for friends who are hearing it for the first time and get roars of laughter from the leadoff title tune. Its a hit with both Jews and gentiles.Later cuts display wonderful musicality by Kinky and his Texas Jewboys If we were Texans we would vote for Kinky for governor.
