Remember the Wind and the Rain
Remember the Wind and the Rain
Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Boston folkie Jaime Brockett became an underground radio sensation with his epic ballad Legend of the U.S.S. Titanic', which updated the old Leadbelly song about how black prizefighter Jack Johnson had been denied passage on the Titanic because of his race to offer an, er, alternative explanation as to why the ocean liner sank (the captain and first mate were high from smoking hemp rope)! Definitely a countercultural classic.

Customer Reviews:
Legend of The USS Titanic.......2007-05-31
I was surprised to find this "Classic" on CD. Lost my copy on cassett many years ago. Jamie Brockett sounds even better now digitized than he did in the 70's.
Remember The Wind and The Rain.......2007-03-09
If you "Google" - The Legend Of the USS Titanic or Jamie Brockett, you will find much more than I have the energy to write. "The Legend Of The USS Titanic" is one of the funniest underground "talking" folk songs ever written, right up there or (maybe) better than "Alice's Restaurant." No slur intended towards Arlo Guthrie at all.
Titanic.......2006-08-21
Perhaps one of the greatest hip/folk/pop songs ever recorded is found on track 6 of this alblum. Please give it a try!
Move over Alices Retaurant...The USS Titanic has arrived!.......2005-11-25
A CD no 60's/70's era hip music fan should be without!
Finally released(snatch it up while it's here!)Jamie dishes out some great folk fun with Legend of the USS Titanic and Talkin' Green Beret New Super Yellow Hydraulic Banana Teeny Bopper Blue. Oft overlooked but never forgotten by the faithful we now get to bask in the full glory of this LP on a clean, well transfered CD release. A must have in any self respecting collectors CD bin! Any fan of Alice's Restaurant should also posess this rare gem, mark my words it'll be gone and out of print so grab it while it's here.
Like a hippy flashback man.......2005-09-26
This CD is a hippy flashback that still is fun to hear for the song the Legend of the U.S.S. Titanic. However I sadly find that the reverence to jews wife swapping offends people. I don't think that it was ment to be a slur but I do plan to burn a Cd with it edited out. I would not want to make any one feel that I was trying to degrade them. Any nationality should have that respect.
The other fun song to hear is Talkin' Green Beret New Super Yellow Hydraulic Banana Teeny Bopper Blue. This song pokes fun at a politician and if you find that offends that's to bad, but as Americans it is almost a sacred trust to poke fun at any politician.
All of the other songs are like folk songs man. And though I find I like the guitar in them I still find them hard to listen to.

Customer Reviews:
A beautiful collection.......2000-12-13
Eileen Farrell was unfamiliar to me before I bought this recording, but since then I have become a dedicated fan. That an opera singer should be able to perform popular songs so convincingly is a wonder in itself, but Miss Farrell's very special style deserves more praise than that. She brings out the inherent mood of each song without a trace of artifice, exploring the emotions in the lyric to the full. Songs like "Where Do You Start", "Gone With The Wind" and "The Shining Sea" have never sounded so sincere and heartbreaking. Robert Farnon's warm strings are a superb foil for Miss Farrell's interpretations. This album may be difficult to obtain, but make the effort if you relish fine songs sung by a master interpreter.

Now, we dont want to accuse our customers of illegal activities, but apparently a fair minority were at the very least tuning into their FM dial during the late 60s, as we have been inundated with requests for this song and the album on which it appeared. Other tracks include the Michael Smith tongue-twister 'Talkin Green Beret New Super Yellow Hydraulic Banana Teeny Bopper Blues; Remember the Wind and the Rain; St. Botolph St. Grey Morning Dulcimer Thing; Bluechip; Nowadays; Suzzane; One Too Many Mornings', and 'Bag on the Table' on what is definitely a countercultural classic, here reissued with original art and new notes.
